¹ My son, if thou come to serve the Lord, prepare thy soul for temptation.	¹ Synu, jeżeli masz zamiar służyć Panu, przygotuj swą duszę na doświadczenie!
² Set thy heart aright, and constantly endure, and make not haste in time of trouble.	² Zachowaj spokój serca i bądź cierpliwy, a nie trać równowagi w czasie utrapienia!
³ Cleave unto him, and depart not away, that thou mayest be increased at thy last end.	³ Przylgnij do Niego, a nie odstępuj, abyś był wywyższony w twoim dniu ostatnim.
⁴ Whatsoever is brought upon thee take cheerfully, and be patient when thou art changed to a low estate.	⁴ Przyjmij wszystko, co przyjdzie na ciebie, a w zmiennych losach utrapienia bądź wytrzymały!
⁵ For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity.	⁵ Bo w ogniu doświadcza się złoto, a ludzi miłych Bogu - w piecu utrapienia.
⁶ Believe in him, and he will help thee; order thy way aright, and trust in him.	⁶ Bądź Mu wierny, a On zajmie się tobą, prostuj swe drogi i Jemu zaufaj!
⁷ Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; and go not aside, lest ye fall.	⁷ Którzy boicie się Pana, oczekujcie Jego zmiłowania, nie zbaczajcie z drogi, abyście nie upadli.
⁸ Ye that fear the Lord, believe him; and your reward shall not fail.	⁸ Którzy boicie się Pana, zawierzcie Mu, a nie przepadnie wasza zapłata.
⁹ Ye that fear the Lord, hope for good, and for everlasting joy and mercy.	⁹ Którzy boicie się Pana, spodziewajcie się dobra, wiecznego wesela i zmiłowania!
¹⁰ Look at the generations of old, and see; did ever any trust in the Lord, and was confounded? or did any abide in his fear, and was forsaken? or whom did he ever despise, that called upon him?	¹⁰ Popatrzcie na dawne pokolenia i zobaczcie: któż zaufał Panu, a został zawstydzony? Albo któż trwał w bojaźni Pańskiej i był opuszczony? Albo któż wzywał Go, a On nim wzgardził?
¹¹ For the Lord is full of compassion and mercy, longsuffering, and very pitiful, and forgiveth sins, and saveth in time of affliction.	¹¹ Dlatego że Pan jest litościwy i miłosierny, odpuszcza grzechy i zbawia w czasie utrapienia.
¹² Woe be to fearful hearts, and faint hands, and the sinner that goeth two ways!	¹² Biada sercom tchórzliwym, rękom opuszczonym i grzesznikowi chodzącemu dwiema ścieżkami.
¹³ Woe unto him that is fainthearted! for he believeth not; therefore shall he not be defended.	¹³ Biada sercu zniechęconemu: ponieważ nie ma ufności, nie dozna opieki.
¹⁴ Woe unto you that have lost patience! and what will ye do when the Lord shall visit you?	¹⁴ Biada wam, którzy straciliście cierpliwość: cóż uczynicie, kiedy Pan nawiedzi?
¹⁵ They that fear the Lord will not disobey his Word; and they that love him will keep his ways.	¹⁵ Którzy się Pana boją, będą posłuszni Jego słowom, a miłujący Go pójdą Jego drogami.
¹⁶ They that fear the Lord will seek that which is well, pleasing unto him; and they that love him shall be filled with the law.	¹⁶ Którzy się Pana boją, będą szukać Jego upodobania, a miłujący Go w Prawie znajdą nasycenie.
¹⁷ They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and humble their souls in his sight,	¹⁷ Którzy się Pana boją, przygotują swe serca, a przed obliczem Jego uniżą swe dusze.
¹⁸ Saying, We will fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men: for as his majesty is, so is his mercy.	¹⁸ Wpadnijmy raczej w ręce Pana niż w ręce ludzi: jaka jest bowiem Jego wielkość, takie też i miłosierdzie.
