Sirach 2

KING JAMES BIBLE	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 My son, if thou come to serve the Lord, prepare thy soul for temptation.	1 Meu filho, se entrares para o serviço de Deus, permanece firme na justiça e no temor, e prepara a tua alma para a provação;
2 Set thy heart aright, and constantly endure, and make not haste in time of trouble.	2 humilha teu coração, espera com paciência, dá ouvidos e acolhe as palavras de sabedoria; não te perturbes no tempo da infelicidade,
3 Cleave unto him, and depart not away, that thou mayest be increased at thy last end.	3 sofre as demoras de Deus; dedica-te a Deus, espera com paciência, a fim de que no derradeiro momento tua vida se enriqueça.
4 Whatsoever is brought upon thee take cheerfully, and be patient when thou art changed to a low estate.	4 Aceita tudo o que te acontecer. Na dor, permanece firme; na humilhação, tem paciência.
5 For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity.	5 Pois é pelo fogo que se experimentam o ouro e a prata, e os homens agradáveis a Deus, pelo cadinho da humilhação.
6 Believe in him, and he will help thee; order thy way aright, and trust in him.	6 Põe tua confiança em Deus e ele te salvará; orienta bem o teu caminho e espera nele. Conserva o temor dele até na velhice.
7 Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; and go not aside, lest ye fall.	7 Vós, que temeis o Senhor, esperai em sua misericórdia, não vos afasteis dele, para que não caiais;
8 Ye that fear the Lord, believe him; and your reward shall not fail.	8 vós, que temeis o Senhor, tende confiança nele, a fim de que não se desvaneça vossa recompensa.
9 Ye that fear the Lord, hope for good, and for everlasting joy and mercy.	9 Vós, que temeis o Senhor, esperai nele; sua misericórdia vos será fonte de alegria.
10 Look at the generations of old, and see; did ever any trust in the Lord, and was confounded? or did any abide in his fear, and was forsaken? or whom did he ever despise, that called upon him?	10 Vós, que temeis o Senhor, amai-o, e vossos corações se encherão de luz.
11 For the Lord is full of compassion and mercy, longsuffering, and very pitiful, and forgiveth sins, and saveth in time of affliction.	11 Considerai, meus filhos, as gerações humanas: sabei que nenhum daqueles que confiavam no Senhor foi confundido.
12 Woe be to fearful hearts, and faint hands, and the sinner that goeth two ways!	12 Pois quem foi abandonado após ter perseverado em seus mandamentos? Quem é aquele cuja oração foi desprezada?
13 Woe unto him that is fainthearted! for he believeth not; therefore shall he not be defended.	13 Pois Deus é cheio de bondade e de misericórdia, ele perdoa os pecados no dia da aflição. Ele é o protetor de todos os que verdadeiramente o procuram.
14 Woe unto you that have lost patience! and what will ye do when the Lord shall visit you?	14 Ai do coração fingido, dos lábios perversos, das mãos malfazejas, do pecador que leva na terra uma vida de duplicidade;
15 They that fear the Lord will not disobey his Word; and they that love him will keep his ways.	15 ai dos corações tímidos que não confiam em Deus, e que Deus, por essa razão, não protege;
16 They that fear the Lord will seek that which is well, pleasing unto him; and they that love him shall be filled with the law.	16 ai daqueles que perderam a paciência, que saíram do caminho reto, e se transviaram nos maus caminhos.
17 They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and humble their souls in his sight,	17 Que farão eles quando o Senhor começar o exame?
18 Saying, We will fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men: for as his majesty is, so is his mercy.	18 Aqueles que temem ao Senhor não são incrédulos à sua palavra, e os que o amam permanecem em sua vereda.
	19 Aqueles que temem ao Senhor procuram agradar-lhe, aqueles que o amam satisfazem-se na sua lei.
	20 Aqueles que temem ao Senhor preparam o coração, santificam suas almas na presença dele.
	21 Aqueles que temem ao Senhor guardam os seus mandamentos, têm paciência até que ele lance os olhos sobre eles,
	22 dizendo: Se não fizermos penitência, cairemos nas mãos do Senhor, e não nas mãos dos homens,
	23 pois a misericórdia dele está na medida de sua grandeza.
