The song of songs, which is Solomon's.1 Hoheslied von Salomo.
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.2 "Mit den Küssen seines Mundes küsse er mich! Ja, deine Liebe ist köstlicher als Wein.
Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.3 An Duft sind lieblich deine Salben; dein Name ist glättendes Öl; darum haben die Mädchen dich lieb.
Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.4 Zieh mich dir nach!
Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.6 Schaut mich nicht darum an, daß ich gebräunt bin, da mich die Sonne verbrannt hat. Es zürnten mir die Söhne meiner Mutter, sie machten mich zur Weinbergwächterin; doch meinen Weinberg durfte ich nicht hüten."
Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?7 "Tu mir kund, du Liebster meiner Seele: Wo weidest du, wo läßt du mittags deine Herde lagern? Warum denn soll ich sein wie eine, die herumirrt bei den Herden deiner Genossen?"
If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.8 "Kennst du dich nicht aus, du Schönste aller Frauen, so folge nur der Spur der Schafe, und weide deine Lämmer bei den Hütten der Hirten!"
I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots.9 "Mit den Stuten an Pharaos Prachtgefährt vergleiche ich dich, meine Freundin:
Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.10 Gar schön sind deine Wangen im Zieratgehänge, dein Hals im Kettenschmuck!
We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.11 Zierat aus Gold mit silbernen Spitzen wollen wir für dich machen."
While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.12 "Solang der König weilt bei seiner Tafelrunde, spendet meine Narde ihren Duft.
A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.13 Ein Myrrhenbüschel ist mir mein Geliebter, das an meinem Busen ruht.
My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of En-gedi.14 Des Kopherstrauches Blütentraube ist mir mein Geliebter, wie er in den Weinbergen Engedis wächst."
Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.15 "Ja, schön bist du, meine Freundin, ja schön; deine Augen sind wie Täubchen!"
Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.16 "Ja, schön bist du, mein Geliebter, ganz hold; und frisches Grün ist unser Lager.
The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.17 Zedern sind unseres Hauses Balken und unsere Sparren Zypressen."
