KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;1 For the leader. A psalm of David.
Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.2 Deliver me, LORD, from the wicked; preserve me from the violent,
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.3 From those who plan evil in their hearts, who stir up conflicts every day,
Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.4 Who sharpen their tongues like serpents, venom of asps upon their lips. Selah
The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.5 Keep me, LORD, from the clutches of the wicked; preserve me from the violent, who plot to trip me up.
I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.6 The arrogant have set a trap for me; villains have spread a net, laid snares for me by the wayside. Selah
O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.7 I say to the LORD: You are my God; listen, LORD, to the words of my prayer.
Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.8 My revered LORD, my strong helper, my helmet on the day of battle.
As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.9 LORD, do not grant the desires of the wicked; do not let their plots succeed. Selah
Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.10 Around me they raise their proud heads; may the mischief they threaten overwhelm them.
Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.11 May God rain burning coals upon them, cast them into the grave never more to rise.
I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.12 Slanderers will not survive on earth; evil will quickly entrap the violent.
Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.13 For I know the LORD will secure justice for the needy, their rights for the poor.
Then the just will give thanks to your name; the upright will dwell in your presence.
