1 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.	1 Cantico de' gradi. Di Salomone. Se il Signore non edifica egli la casa, invano si affaticano quegli, che la edificano.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.	2 Se il Signore non sarà egli il custode della città, indarno veglia colui, che la custodisce.
3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.	3 E cosa inutile a voi il levarvi prima del giorno: levatevi dopo, che avrete riposato voi, che mangiate pan di dolore.
4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.	4 Quando egli a' suoi diletti avrà dato il sonno, ecco dal Signore l'eredità, i figliuoli, il lucro, i parti.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.	5 Quai saette nella mano d'uomo possente, cosi sono i figliuoli dei tribolati.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.	6 Beato l'uomo, il di cui desiderio riguardo ad essi è adempiuto: ei non sarà svergognato quando avrà da parlare co' suoi nemici alla porta.
