KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.1 [Song of Ascents *{* The Songs of Ascents (Pss 120-134) were sung by pilgrims on their way up toJerusalem.} ] To Yahweh when I am in trouble I call and he answers me.
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.2 Yahweh, save me from lying lips and a treacherous tongue!
What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?3 What will he repay you, what more, treacherous tongue?
Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.4 War-arrows made sharp over red-hot charcoal.
Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!5 How wretched I am, living in Meshech, dwel ing in the tents of Kedar!
My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.6 Too long have I lived among people who hate peace.
I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.7 When I speak of peace they are all for war!
