KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.1 The whole world spoke the same language, with the same vocabulary.
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.2 Now, as people moved eastwards they found a valley in the land of Shinar where they settled.
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.3 They said to one another, 'Come, let us make bricks and bake them in the fire.' For stone they usedbricks, and for mortar they used bitumen.
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.4 'Come,' they said, 'let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top reaching heaven. Let us makea name for ourselves, so that we do not get scattered all over the world.'
And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.5 Now Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower that the people had built.
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.6 'So they are al a single people with a single language!' said Yahweh. 'This is only the start of theirundertakings! Now nothing they plan to do wil be beyond them.
Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language there, so that they cannot understand one another.'
So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.8 Yahweh scattered them thence all over the world, and they stopped building the city.
Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.9 That is why it was cal ed Babel, since there Yahweh confused the language of the whole world, andfrom there Yahweh scattered them al over the world.

And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:18 When Peleg was thirty years old he fathered Reu.

And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.28 Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in his native land, Ur of the Chaldaeans.
And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.29 Abram and Nahor both married: Abram's wife was cal ed Sarai, Nahor's wife was called Milcahdaughter of Haran, father of Milcah and Iscah.
But Sarai was barren; she had no child.30 Sarai was barren, having no child.

But on arrival in Haran theysettled there.
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.32 Terah's life lasted two hundred and five years; then he died at Haran.
