1 A karvezetőnek. Maszkíl Dávidtól,	1 when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.
2 amikor az edomi Dóeg elment Saulhoz és hírül adta neki: »Dávid Ahimelek házába ment be.«	2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully.
3 Mit kérkedsz a gonoszsággal, aki hatalmas vagy az igazságtalanságban?	3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
4 Álnokságot tervelsz egész nap, nyelved, mint az éles borotva, és gonoszságot művelsz.	4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
5 Jobban szereted a rosszat, mint a jót, hazugságot szívesebben szólsz, mint igazat.	5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
6 Szeretsz minden ártó beszédet, te álnok nyelv!	6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
7 El is pusztít érte Isten végleg, hajlékodból kiköltöztet téged és kigyomlál, kitépi gyökeredet az élők földjéből.	7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
8 Félve látják majd ezt az igazak, nevetnek rajta és ezt mondják:	8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
9 »Így jár az az ember, aki nem Istent választotta segítőjének, hanem gazdagsága sokaságában bízott, és felfuvalkodott hiúságában.«	9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
10 Én azonban olyan vagyok, mint a termékeny olajfa Isten házában, bízom Isten irgalmában, mindörökkön örökké.
11 Áldalak téged mindörökké, hogy így cselekszel; remélek nevedben, mert jó vagy Szentjeid színe előtt.
