DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW JERUSALEM
A psalm of a canticle on the sabbath day.1 [Psalm Song For the Sabbath] It is good to give thanks to Yahweh, to make music for your name, MostHigh,
It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.2 to proclaim your faithful love at daybreak, and your constancy al through the night,
To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:3 on the lyre, the ten-stringed lyre, to the murmur of the harp.
Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: with a canticle upon the harp.4 You have brought me joy, Yahweh, by your deeds, at the work of your hands I cry out,
For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.5 'How great are your works, Yahweh, immensely deep your thoughts!'
O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.6 Stupid people cannot realise this, fools do not grasp it.
The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.7 The wicked may sprout like weeds, and every evil-doer flourish, but only to be eternally destroyed;
When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:8 whereas you are supreme for ever, Yahweh.
but thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.9 Look how your enemies perish, how all evil-doers are scattered!
For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.10 You give me the strength of the wild ox, you anoint me with fresh oil;
But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.11 I caught sight of the ambush against me, overheard the plans of the wicked.
My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.12 The upright wil flourish like the palm tree, will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.
The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.13 Planted in the house of Yahweh, they wil flourish in the courts of our God.
They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.14 In old age they wil stil bear fruit, wil remain fresh and green,
They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,15 to proclaim Yahweh's integrity; my rock, in whom no fault can be found.
that they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.
