Psalms 82

1 A psalm for Asaph. God hath stood in the congregation of gods: and being in the midst of them he judgeth gods.	1 [Psalm Asaphs.] Gott tritt auf in der Gottesversammlung, inmitten der Götter hält er Gericht:
2 How long will you judge unjustly: and accept the persons of the wicked?	2 "Wie lange wollt ihr ungerecht richten und für die Frevler Partei ergreifen? [Zwischenspiel]
3 Judge for the needy and fatherless: do justice to the humble and the poor.	3 Verteidigt den Geringen und Verwaisten, schafft Recht dem Bedrängten und Dürftigen!
4 Rescue the poor; and deliver the needy out of the hand of the sinner.	4 Befreit den Geringen und Armen, entreißt ihn der Hand der Frevler!
5 They have not known nor understood: they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth shall be moved.	5 Sie haben weder Verstand noch Einsicht, sie tappen im Dunkeln dahin. So wanken alle Grundfesten der Erde.
6 I have said: You are gods and all of you the sons of the most High.	6 Ich hatte gedacht: "Ihr seid Götter und lauter Söhne des Höchsten."
7 But you like men shall die: and shall fall like one of the princes.	7 Doch wahrlich, wie Menschen sollt ihr sterben und fallen wie irgendeiner der Fürsten!"
8 Arise, O God, judge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherit among all the nations.	8 Erhebe dich, Gott, richte die Erde! Denn dein Eigentum sind sämtliche Völker.
