1 A psalm for David. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye just: praise becometh the upright.	1 Fêtez le Seigneur, peuple des justes, c’est aux cœurs droits de l’acclamer.
2 Give praise to the Lord on the harp; sing to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings.	2 Prenez la guitare pour lui rendre grâce, jouez pour lui sur la harpe à dix cordes.
3 Sing to him a new canticle, sing well unto him with a loud noise.	3 Chantez pour lui un chant nouveau avec de beaux accords pour l’ovation!
4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are done with faithfulness.	4 Car la parole du Seigneur est droite, sa fidélité paraît en toutes ses œuvres.
5 He loveth mercy and judgment; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.	5 Il aime la justice et le droit, la terre est remplie de sa grâce.
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth:	6 Par sa parole les cieux ont été faits, par son souffle ils ont reçu leur panoplie,
7 Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses.	7 lorsqu’il avait encore l’eau des mers en son outre et dans ses réservoirs retenait les eaux profondes.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him.	8 Terre entière, redoute le Seigneur, et que tes habitants soient saisis de crainte
9 For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.	9 car il n’a dit qu’un mot et cela fut, il a donné un ordre et tout est apparu.
10 The Lord bringeth to naught the counsels of nations; and he rejecteth the devices of people, and casteth away the counsels of princes.	10 Il mène à l’échec le projet des nations, il réduit à rien ce qu’ont pensé les peuples.
11 But the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever: the thoughts of his heart to all generations.	11 Mais son projet à lui tient à jamais, ce qu’a pensé le Seigneur passera les âges.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance.	12 Heureuse la nation qui a le Seigneur pour Dieu, le peuple qu’il a choisi pour en faire son peuple!
13 The Lord hath looked from heaven: he hath beheld all the sons of men.	13 Du ciel le Seigneur regarde et voit tous les fils d’Adam.
14 From his habitation which he hath prepared, he hath looked upon all that dwell on the earth.	14 Depuis le lieu de sa demeure il observe les habitants du monde.
15 He who hath made the hearts of every one of them: who understandeth all their works.	15 Il a formé, lui seul, tous les cœurs, et de même il comprend tous leurs actes.
16 The king is not saved by a great army: nor shall the giant be saved by his own great strength.	16 Le roi ne vaincra pas parce qu’il a du monde, le brave ne se sauvera pas parce qu’il est fort.
17 Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength.	17 Pour vaincre, le cheval n’est pas le moyen sûr, quelle que soit sa valeur, ce n’est pas lui qui sauve.
18 Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him: and on them that hope in his mercy.	18 Mais le Seigneur suit des yeux ceux qui le craignent, ceux qui comptent sur son amour,
19 To deliver their souls from death; and feed them in famine.	19 pour les sauver de la mort violente et les maintenir en vie en temps de famine.
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helper and protector.	20 Nos âmes espèrent dans le Seigneur, il est notre secours et notre bouclier.
21 For in him our heart shall rejoice: and in his holy name we have trusted.	21 Nos cœurs trouvent en lui leur joie, en son saint Nom nous avons mis notre espérance.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have hoped in thee.	22 Que ta grâce, Seigneur, nous protège notre confiance est toute en toi!
