1 My soul is weary of my life, I will let go my speech against myself, I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.	1 Mon âme est dégoûtée de la vie; je m'abandonnerai aux plaintes contre moi-même, je parlerai dans l'amertume de mon âme.
2 I will say to God: Do not condemn me: tell me why thou judgest me so.	2 Je dirai à Dieu : Ne me condamnez pas; indiquez-moi pourquoi Vous me traitez ainsi.
3 Doth it seem good to thee that thou shouldst calumniate me, and oppress me, the work of thy own hands, and help the counsel of the wicked?	3 Vous paraîtrait-il bon de me calomnier et de m'accabler, moi l'oeuvre de Vos mains? Favoriserez-Vous les desseins des impies?
4 Hast thou eyes of flesh: or, shalt thou see as man seeth?	4 Avez-Vous des yeux de chair, et regardez-Vous les choses comme l'homme les regarde?
5 Are thy days as the days of man, and are thy years as the times of men:	5 Vos jours sont-ils comme les jours de l'homme, et Vos années comme ses années,
6 That thou shouldst inquire after my iniquity, and search after my sin?	6 pour que Vous recherchiez mes iniquités, et que Vous scrutiez mon péché,
7 And shouldst know that I have done no wicked thing, whereas there is no man that can deliver out of thy hand.	7 quand Vous savez que je n'ai rien fait d'impie, et que personne ne peut me délivrer de Votre main?
8 Thy hands have made me, and fashioned me wholly round about, and dost thou thus cast me down headlong on a sudden?	8 Vos mains m'ont formé; elles ont façonné toutes les parties de mon corps, et Vous voudriez me perdre en un instant?
9 Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay, and thou wilt bring me into dust again.	9 Souvenez-Vous, je Vous prie, que Vous m'avez façonné comme de l'argile, et que Vous me réduirez en poussière.
10 Hast thou not milked me as milk, and curdled me like cheese?	10 Ne m'avez-Vous pas fait couler comme le lait, et coagulé comme un laitage pressé?
11 Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh: thou hast put me together with bones and sinews:	11 Vous m'avez revêtu de peau et de chairs; Vous m'avez affermi d'os et de nerfs.
12 Thou hast granted me life and mercy, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.	12 Vous m'avez donné la vie et comblé de bienfaits; et c'est Votre providence qui a gardé mon âme.
13 Although thou conceal these things in thy heart, yet I know that thou rememberest all things.	13 Quoique Vous cachiez ces choses dans Votre coeur, je sais néanmoins que Vous Vous souvenez de tout.
14 If I have sinned and thou hast spared me for an hour: why dost thou not suffer me to be clean from my iniquity?	14 Si j'ai péché, et si Vous m'avez épargné pour un instant, pourquoi ne permettez-Vous pas que je sois purifié de mon iniquité?
15 And if I be wicked, woe unto me: and if just, I shall not lift up my head, being filled with affliction and misery.	15 Si j'ai été impie, malheur à moi; et si je suis juste, je n'ose lever la tête, abreuvé d'affliction et de misère.
16 And for pride thou wilt take me as a lioness, and returning thou tormentest me wonderfully.	16 A cause de mon orgueil, Vous me saisirez comme une lionne, et de nouveau Vous me tourmenterez étrangement.
17 Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and multipliest thy wrath upon me, and pains war against me.	17 Vous produisez encore contre moi Vos témoins, Vous multipliez sur moi les effets de Votre colère, et les maux m'assiègent comme une armée.
18 Why didst thou bring me forth out of the womb: O that I had been consumed that eye might not see me!	18 Pourquoi m'avez-Vous tiré du sein de ma mère? Que n'ai-je péri sans qu'un oeil pût me voir!
19 I should have been as if I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave.	19 J'aurais été comme si je n'avais point existé, n'ayant fait que passer du sein de ma mère au tombeau.
20 Shall not the fewness of my days be ended shortly? suffer me, therefore, that I may lament my sorrow a little:	20 Les quelques jours qui me restent ne finiront-ils pas bientôt? Laissez-moi donc pleurer un instant ma douleur,
21 Before I go, and return no more, to a land that is dark and covered with the mist of death:	21 avant que je m'en aille sans retour dans cette région ténébreuse et couverte de l'obscurité de la mort:
22 A land of misery and darkness, where the shadow of death, and no order, but everlasting horror dwelleth.	22 région de misère et de ténèbres, où habite l'ombre de la mort, où il n'y a pas d'ordre, mais une éternelle horreur.
