Proverbi 3

1 Figliuol mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento; E il cuor tuo guardi i miei comandamenti;	1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart guard my precepts.
2 Perchè ti aggiungeranno lunghezza di giorni, Ed anni di vita, e prosperità.	2 For they shall set before you length of days, and years of life, and peace.
3 Benignità e verità non ti abbandoneranno; Legateli in su la gola, scrivili in su la tavola del tuo cuore;	3 Let not mercy and truth abandon you: encircle them around your throat, and inscribe them on the tablets of your heart.
4 E tu troverai grazia e buon senno Appo Iddio, ed appo gli uomini.	4 And so shall you discover grace and good discipline, in the sight of God and men.
5 Confidati nel Signore con tutto il tuo cuore; E non appoggiarti in su la tua prudenza.	5 Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend upon your own prudence.
6 Riconoscilo in tutte le tue vie, Ed egli addirizzerà i tuoi sentieri	6 In all your ways, consider him, and he himself will direct your steps.
7 Non reputarti savio appo te stesso; Temi il Signore, e ritratti dal male.	7 Do not seem wise to yourself. Fear God, and withdraw from evil.
8 Ciò sarà una medicina al tuo bellico, Ed un inaffiamento alle tue ossa.	8 Certainly, it shall be health to your navel, and refreshment to your bones.
9 Onora il Signore con le tue facoltà, E con le primizie d’ogni tua rendita;	9 Honor the Lord with your substance, and give to him from the first of all your fruits,
10 Ed i tuoi granai saran ripieni di beni in ogni abbondanza, E le tue tigne traboccheranno di mosto.	10 and then your storehouses will be filled with abundance, and your presses shall overflow with wine.
11 Figliuol mio, non disdegnar la correzione del Signore; E non ti rincresca il suo gastigamento;	11 My son, do not discard the discipline of the Lord, and do not fall away when you are corrected by him.
12 Perciocchè il Signore gastiga chi egli ama; Anzi come un padre il figliuolo ch’egli gradisce	12 For whomever the Lord loves, he corrects, and just as a father does with a son, he wins him over.
13 Beato l’uomo che ha trovata sapienza, E l’uomo che ha ottenuto intendimento.	13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and who advances to prudence.
14 Perciocchè il traffico di essa è migliore che il traffico dell’argento, E la sua rendita è migliore che l’oro.	14 Her acquisition is better than trading in silver, and her fruit is better than the first and purest gold.
15 Ella è più preziosa che le perle; E tutto ciò che tu hai di più caro non la pareggia.	15 She is more precious than all riches, and all that can be desired cannot prevail in comparison to her.
16 Lunghezza di giorni è alla sua destra; Ricchezza e gloria alla sua sinistra.	16 Length of days is at her right hand, and at her left hand is wealth and glory.
17 Le sue vie son vie dilettevoli, E tutti i suoi sentieri sono pace.	17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
18 Ella è un albero di vita a quelli che si appigliano ad essa; E beati coloro che la ritengono.	18 She is a tree of life to those who overtake her, and he who shall take hold of her is blessed.
19 Il Signore ha fondata la terra con sapienza; Egli ha stabiliti i cieli con intendimento.	19 The Lord founded the earth on wisdom. He secured the heavens with prudence.
20 Per lo suo conoscimento gli abissi furono fessi, E l’aria stilla la rugiada	20 By his wisdom, the abyss erupted and the clouds increased with dew.
21 Figliuol mio, non dipartansi giammai queste cose dagli occhi tuoi; Guarda la ragione e l’avvedimento;	21 My son, let not these things move away from your eyes. Preserve law as well as counsel.
22 E quelle saranno vita all’anima tua, E grazia alla tua gola.	22 And so shall there be life in your soul and grace in your voice.
23 Allora camminerai sicuramente per la tua via, Ed il tuo piè non incapperà.	23 Then you shall walk confidently in your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24 Quando tu giacerai, non avrai spavento; E quando tu ti riposerai, il tuo sonno sarà dolce.	24 When you slumber, you shall not fear. When you rest, your sleep also will be sweet.
25 Tu non temerai di subito spavento, Nè della ruina degli empi, quando ella avverrà.	25 Do not fear unexpected terror, nor the power of the impious falling upon you.
26 Perciocchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco, E guarderà il tuo piè, che non sia preso	26 For the Lord will be at your side, and he will guard your feet, so that you may not be seized.
27 Non negare il bene a quelli a cui è dovuto, Quando è in tuo potere di farlo.	27 Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too.
28 Non dire al tuo prossimo: Va’, e torna, E domani te lo darò, se tu l’hai appo te.	28 Do not say to your friend: “Go away, and then return. Tomorrow I will give to you.” When you are able to do so, give in the present.
29 Non macchinare alcun male contro al tuo prossimo Che abita in sicurtà teco.	29 Do not undertake evil against your friend, even though he has trust in you.
30 Non litigar con alcuno senza cagione, S’egli non ti ha fatto alcun torto.	30 Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.
31 Non portare invidia all’uomo violento, E non eleggere alcuna delle sue vie.	31 Do not rival an unjust man, and do not imitate his ways.
32 Perciocchè l’uomo perverso è cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma egli comunica il suo consiglio con gli uomini diritti.	32 For everyone who ridicules is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is for the simple.
33 La maledizione del Signore è nella casa dell’empio; Ma egli benedirà la stanza de’ giusti.	33 Destitution in the house of the impious is from the Lord. But the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 Se egli schernisce gli schernitori, Dà altresì grazia agli umili.	34 He will ridicule those who ridicule, but he will bestow grace upon the mild.
35 I savi possederanno la gloria; Ma gli stolti se ne portano ignominia	35 The wise will possess glory. The exaltation of the foolish is disgraceful.
