1 [Dem Chorleiter. Von David. Ein Psalm. Ein Lied.]	1 For the leader. A psalm of David; a song.
2 Gott erhebt sich. Da zerstieben seine Feinde, seine Gegner fliehen vor ihm.	2 God will arise for battle; the enemy will be scattered; those who hate God will flee.
3 Wie flüchtiger Rauch verweht, wie Wachs vor dem Feuer zerfließt, so vergehen die Frevler vor Gottes Antlitz.	3 The wind will disperse them like smoke; as wax is melted by fire, so the wicked will perish before God.
4 Doch die Gerechten freuen sich und jubeln vor dem Angesicht Gottes; sie jauchzen vor Freude.	4 Then the just will be glad; they will rejoice before God; they will celebrate with great joy.
5 Singet Gott, preist seinen Namen! Bahnt einen Weg ihm, der durch die Steppen einherfährt! Freut euch des Herrn und jubelt vor ihm!	5 Sing to God, praise the divine name; exalt the rider of the clouds. Rejoice before this God whose name is the LORD.
6 Vater der Waisen und Anwalt der Witwen ist Gott in seiner heiligen Wohnstatt.	6 Father of the fatherless, defender of widows-- this is the God whose abode is holy,
7 Vereinsamte bringt Gott nach Hause, Gefangene führt er heraus ins Heil, nur Trotzige bleiben in dürrem Land.	7 Who gives a home to the forsaken, who leads prisoners out to prosperity, while rebels live in the desert.
8 Gott, als du herzogst vor deinem Volke, als du einherschrittest in der Wüste, [Zwischenspiel]	8 God, when you went forth before your people, when you marched through the desert, Selah
9 da bebte die Erde, ja es triefte der Himmel vor Gott [am Sinai], vor Gott, dem Gott Israels.	9 The earth quaked, the heavens shook, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.
10 Großmütig sandtest du Regen, o Gott, dein verschmachtendes Erbland hast du erquickt.	10 You claimed a land as your own, O God;
11 Dein zeltendes Volk fand Wohnung darin; du erquicktest den Armen in deiner Güte, o Gott.	11 your people settled there. There you poured abundant rains, God, graciously given to the poor in their need.
12 Der Herr gab Befehl, der großen Heereszug verkündete.	12 All you people so numerous,
13 Die Könige der Heere flohen, ja flohen, und die Frau im Hause verteilte die Beute.	13 b) Every household will share the booty,
14 Mögt ihr (andern) auch lagern am warmen Herd - die Flügel der Taube sind bedeckt mit Silber und ihre Schwingen mit gelbem Gold.	14 c) its wings covered with yellow gold."
15 Als der Allmächtige Könige zerstreute, damals schneite es auf dem Zalmon. -	15 When the Almighty routed the kings there, the spoils were scattered like snow on Zalmon.
16 Ein erhabenes Gebirge ist Basans Gebirge, ein gipfelreiches Gebirge ist Basans Gebirge.	16 You high mountains of Bashan, you rugged mountains of Bashan,
17 Warum schaut ihr voll Neid, ihr gipfelreichen Berge, auf den Berg, den Gott sich zum Sitz erkor, ja, auf dem der Herr für ewige Zeiten thront?	17 You rugged mountains, why look with envy at the mountain where God has chosen to dwell, where the LORD resides forever?
18 Der Wagen Gottes sind zehntausende, abertausende! Der Herr kam vom Sinai ins Heiligtum gezogen.	18 God's chariots were myriad, thousands upon thousands; from Sinai the Lord entered the holy place.
19 Du stiegst zur Höhe empor, führtest Gefangene mit, empfingst Geschenke von den Menschen, selbst von jenen, die sich sträubten, zu wohnen beim Herrn und Gott.	19 You went up to its lofty height; you took captives, received slaves as tribute. No rebels can live in the presence of God.
20 Gepriesen sei der Herr Tag für Tag! Er trägt unsre Last; Gott ist unsre Hilfe. [Zwischenspiel]	20 Blessed be the Lord day by day, God, our salvation, who carries us. Selah
21 Gott ist für uns ein helfender Gott! Der Herr und Gebieter weiß Auswege vor dem Tod.	21 Our God is a God who saves; escape from death is in the LORD God's hands.
22 Ja, Gott zerschmettert das Haupt seiner Feinde, den Haarscheitel dessen, der einhergeht in seinen Sünden.	22 God will crush the skulls of the enemy, the hairy heads of those who walk in sin.
23 Der Herr hat gesprochen: "Aus Basan bringe ich heim, bringe heim aus den Tiefen des Meeres,	23 The Lord has said: "Even from Bashan I will fetch them, fetch them even from the depths of the sea.
24 daß dein Fuß sich bade in Blut, die Zunge deiner Hunde Anteil bekomme an den Feinden."	24 You will wash your feet in your enemy's blood; the tongues of your dogs will lap it up."
25 Man schaut deinen Einzug, o Gott, den Einzug meines Gottes, meines Königs, ins Heiligtum:	25 Your procession comes into view, O God, your procession into the holy place, my God and king.
26 Voraus ziehen die Sänger, dann folgen die Saitenspieler inmitten paukenschlagender Mädchen.	26 The singers go first, the harpists follow; in their midst girls sound the timbrels.
27 "In Gruppen lobpreist Gott, lobpreist den Herrn, ihr vom Stamm Israels!"	27 In your choirs, bless God; bless the LORD, you from Israel's assemblies.
28 Da ist Benjamin - klein, doch ihr Führer -, die Fürsten von Juda mit Jubelrufen, die Fürsten von Sebulun, die Fürsten von Naphtali!	28 In the lead is Benjamin, few in number; there the princes of Judah, a large throng, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali, too.
29 Entbiete, o Gott, deine Macht, die göttliche Macht, die du an uns erwiesen,	29 Summon again, O God, your power, the divine power you once showed for us.
30 von deinem Tempel her über Jerusalem! Dir sollen Könige Gaben bringen! -	30 Show it from your temple on behalf of Jerusalem, that kings may bring you tribute.
31 Bedrohe das Tier im Schilf, die Rotte der Stiere unter den Völkerkälbern! Tritt nieder, die Wohlgefallen haben an Silber! Zerstreue die Völker, die Kriege wünschen!	31 Roar at the wild beast of the reeds, the herd of mighty bulls, the lords of nations; scatter the nations that delight in war.
32 Man bringe aus Ägypten eherne Geräte, Kusch erhebe seine Hände zu Gott!	32 Exact rich tribute from lower Egypt, from upper Egypt, gold and silver; make Ethiopia extend its hands to God.
33 Ihr Reiche der Erde, singet Gott, preiset den Herrn! [Zwischenspiel]	33 You kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; chant the praises of the Lord, Selah
34 Ihn, der hinfährt über den Himmel, den ewigen Himmel! Siehe, er läßt seine Stimme ertönen, die mächtige Stimme!	34 Who rides the heights of the ancient heavens, whose voice is thunder, mighty thunder.
35 Rühmt Gottes Macht! Über Israel strahlt seine Hoheit, bis zu den Wolken seine Macht.	35 Confess the power of God, whose majesty protects Israel, whose power is in the sky.
36 Furchtgebietend ist Gott von seinem Heiligtum her. Israels Gott gibt seinem Volke Kraft und Stärke. Gepriesen sei Gott!	36 Awesome is God in his holy place, the God of Israel, who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!
