1 ALL' uomo di dura cervice, che di sprezza chi lo corregge, sopravverrà repentina la perdizione, e non vi sarà rimedio per lui.	1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.
2 La moltiplicazione da' giusti sarà la letizia del popolo: quando gli empj prenderan le redini del principato, il popolo avrà da gemere.	2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 Colui che ama la sapienza, da consolazione al padre suo: ma colui che pasce le meretrici dissiperà le sue sostanze.	3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.
4 Il re giusto felicita lo stato; l'uomo avaro il distrugge.	4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.
5 L'uomo che tiene un linguaggio finto, e di adulazione col suo amico, tende una rete a' suoi piedi.	5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.
6 L'uom peccatore, e iniquo cadrà al laccio: e il giusto canterà, e farà festa.	6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.
7 Il giusto ha a cuore la causa de' poveri: l'empio non se n' informa.	7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.
8 Gli uomini malvaggi son la rovina della città: i sapienti la salvano dall'ira.	8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.
9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa collo stolto, o vada in collera, o rida, non avrà pace.	9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.
10 Gli uomini sanguinati odiano l'uomo semplice, ma i giusti cercano di salvarlo.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.
11 Lo stolto mette fuora tutto il suo spirito: il saggio va adagio, e si serba qualche cosa pell'avvenire.	11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.
12 Il principe che ascolta volentieri le menzogne, non ha se non empj ministri.	12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.
13 Il povero, e il suo creditore si vanno incontro l'uno all'altro: ad ambedue ha data la luce il Signore.	13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Se il re fa giustizia a poveri se condo la verità, il suo trono sarà stabile in eterno.	14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.
15 La verga, e la correzione danno saggezza; ma il fanciullo abbandonato a' suoi voleri è di rossore a sua madre.	15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.
16 Saran moltipllcate le scelleraggini colla moltiplicazione degli empj: e i giusti vedranno le loro rovine.	16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.
17 Istruisci il tuo figliuolo, ed egli ti recherà consolazione, e sarà la delizia dell'anima tua.	17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.
18 Quando la profezia verrà meno, il popolo sarà dissipato; ma colui che custodisce la legge, è beato.	18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.
19 A istruire un animo servile non bastano le parole: perocché egli intende quello, che tu dici, ma non si degna di rispondere.	19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.
20 Hai tu veduto un uomo, che corre a furia a parlare? Si può sperare, che si corregga la stoltezza piuttosto che egli.	20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!
21 Chi dilicatamente nutrisce il suo servo fin dall'infanzia, lo proverà poi contumace.	21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.
22 L'uomo iracondo attizza risse, e chi è facile a dare in escandescenze sarà più proclive a peccare.	22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.
23 L'umiliazione va dietro al superbo, la gloria abbraccerà l'umile di spinto.	23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.
24 Chi fa società col ladro, odia l'anima sua: sente chi gli da il giuramento, e non confessa.	24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.
25 Chi ha timore dell'uomo caderà ben presto: chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.	25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
26 Molti cercano il favore del principe: ma dal Signore dee venire il giudizio di ciascheduno.	26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.
27 I giusti hanno in abbominazione gli empj, e gli empj hanno in abominazione quelli, che sono nella buona strada. Il fanciullo, che tien conto di questa parola, sarà sicuro dalla perdizione.	27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
