2 Abraham war der Vater von Isaak, Isaak von Jakob, Jakob von Juda und seinen Brüdern.	2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 Juda war der Vater von Perez und Serach; ihre Mutter war Tamar. Perez war der Vater von Hezron, Hezron von Aram,	3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

11 Joschija war der Vater von Jojachin und seinen Brüdern; das war zur Zeit der Babylonischen Gefangenschaft.	11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

13 Serubbabel von Abihud, Abihud von Eljakim, Eljakim von Azor.	13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 Azor war der Vater von Zadok, Zadok von Achim, Achim von Eliud,	14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 Eliud von Eleasar, Eleasar von Mattan, Mattan von Jakob.	15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 Jakob war der Vater von Josef, dem Mann Marias; von ihr wurde Jesus geboren, der der Christus (der Messias) genannt wird.	16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Im Ganzen sind es also von Abraham bis David vierzehn Generationen, von David bis zur Babylonischen Gefangenschaft vierzehn Generationen und von der Babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis zu Christus vierzehn Generationen.	17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Mit der Geburt Jesu Christi war es so: Maria, seine Mutter, war mit Josef verlobt; noch bevor sie zusammengekommen waren, zeigte sich, dass sie ein Kind erwartete - durch das Wirken des Heiligen Geistes.	18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Josef, ihr Mann, der gerecht war und sie nicht bloßstellen wollte, beschloss, sich in aller Stille von ihr zu trennen.	19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 Während er noch darüber nachdachte, erschien ihm ein Engel des Herrn im Traum und sagte: Josef, Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria als deine Frau zu dir zu nehmen; denn das Kind, das sie erwartet, ist vom Heiligen Geist.	20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 Sie wird einen Sohn gebären; ihm sollst du den Namen Jesus geben; denn er wird sein Volk von seinen Sünden erlösen.	21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Dies alles ist geschehen, damit sich erfüllte, was der Herr durch den Propheten gesagt hat:	22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Seht, die Jungfrau wird ein Kind empfangen, einen Sohn wird sie gebären, und man wird ihm den Namen Immanuel geben, das heißt übersetzt: Gott ist mit uns.	23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Als Josef erwachte, tat er, was der Engel des Herrn ihm befohlen hatte, und nahm seine Frau zu sich.	24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 Er erkannte sie aber nicht, bis sie ihren Sohn gebar. Und er gab ihm den Namen Jesus.	25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
