1 Fugge l'empio senza avere chi lo incalzi: ma il giusto è franco come un lione, e senza timore.	1 The wicked man flees although no one pursues him; but the just man, like a lion, feels sure of himself.
2 A motivo de' peccati del mondo si moltiplicano li suoi principi; ma per la sapienza di un uomo, e per la cognizione delle cose che si insegnano, la vita del principe sarà più lunga.	2 If a land is rebellious, its princes will be many; but with a prudent man it knows security.
3 Un uomo povero, che opprime i poveri, è simile ad una pioggia violenta, che prepara la carestia.	3 A rich man who oppresses the poor is like a devastating rain that leaves no food.
4 Quelli, che abbandonan la legge, lodano l'empio: quelli, che la osservano ardono di zelo contro di lui.	4 Those who abandon the law praise the wicked man, but those who keep the law war against him.
5 I malvaggi non pensano a quel, che è giusto; ma quelli, che cercano il Signore badano a ogni cosa.	5 Evil men understand nothing of justice, but those who seek the LORD understand all.
6 E più stimabile il povero, che cammina nella sua semplicità, che il ricco negli storti suoi andamenti.	6 Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than he who is crooked in his ways and rich.
7 Chi osserva la legge è un saggio figliuolo; ma chi pasce i mangiatori, fa vergogna a suo padre.	7 He who keeps the law is a wise son, but the gluttons' companion disgraces his father.
8 Chi aduna ricchezze per mezzo di usure, e di scrocchi, le aduna per un uomo liberale verso de' poveri.	8 He who increases his wealth by interest and overcharge gathers it for him who is kind to the poor.
9 Chi chiude le orecchie per non ascoltare la legge, la orazione di lui sarà in esecrazione.	9 When one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
10 Chi con frode conduce i giusti nella mala via, precipiterà nella propria sua fossa: e gli innocenti saran padroni de' beni di lui.	10 He who seduces the upright into an evil way will himself fall into his own pit. (And blameless men will gain prosperity.)
11 L'uomo ricco si crede sapiente: ma il povero dotato di prudenza lo smaschererà.	11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who is intelligent sees through him.
12 Nella prosperità de' giusti travasi gloria grande: sotto il regno degli empj vanno in rovina gli uomini.	12 When the just are triumphant, there is great jubilation; but when the wicked gain preeminence, people hide.
13 Chi nasconde i suoi delitti, non avrà bene; ma chi li confessa, e gli abbandona, otterrà misericordia.	13 He who conceals his sins prospers not, but he who confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy.
14 Beato l'uomo, che è sempre timoroso; ma chi è duro di cuore precipiterà in sciagure.	14 Happy the man who is always on his guard; but he who hardens his heart will fall into evil.
15 Lion che rugge, orso affamato egli è un principe empio, che regna sopra un povero popolo.	15 Like a roaring lion or a ravenous bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 Un principe che manca di prudenza, opprimerà molti con vessazioni: ma chi odia l'avarizia farà lunga vita.	16 The less prudent the prince, the more his deeds oppress. He who hates ill-gotten gain prolongs his days.
17 Chi per via di calunnie sparge il sangue, in cui è la vita, quand'anche fugga sino a gittarsi in un baratro, nissuno lo riterrà.	17 Though a man burdened with human blood were to flee to the grave, none should support him.
18 Chi cammina con semplicità, avrà salute; chi batte vie storte, caderà una volta.	18 He who walks uprightly is safe, but he whose ways are crooked falls into the pit.
19 Chi lavora la sua terra, avrà del pane da satollarsi; ma chi è amico dell'ozio, abbonderà di miserie.	19 He who cultivates his land will have plenty of food, but from idle pursuits a man has his fill of poverty.
20 L'uomo leale sarà lodato assai: ma chi ha fretta di farsi ricco, non sarà innocente.	20 The trustworthy man will be richly blessed; he who is in haste to grow rich will not go unpunished.
21 Chi in giudizio è accettator di persone, non fa bene; costui anche per un tozzo di pane abbandona la verità.	21 To show partiality is never good: for even a morsel of bread a man may do wrong.
22 L'uomo, che ha fretta di arricchire, e porta invidia ad altri, ci non sa che lo invaderà repentinamente la povertà.	22 The avaricious man is perturbed about his wealth, and he knows not when want will come upon him.
23 Chi corregge un uomo sarà alla fine più accetto a lui, che quegli, il quale con lingua lusinghiera lo inganna.	23 He who rebukes a man gets more thanks in the end than one with a flattering tongue.
24 Chi ruba a suo padre, ed a sua madre, e dice ciò non esser peccato, è compagno dell'omicida.	24 He who defrauds father or mother and calls it no sin, is a partner of the brigand.
25 Colui, che si millanta, e si gonfia, fa nascere delle contese; ma chi spera nel Signore otterrà salute.	25 The greedy man stirs up disputes, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
26 Chi si confida ne' suoi consigli è uno stolto; ma chi cammina con saggezza, sarà salvo:	26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is safe.
27 Chi dona al povero non sarà mai in bisogno; ma chi disprezza colui che domanda, soffrirà penuria.	27 He who gives to the poor suffers no want, but he who ignores them gets many a curse.
28 Quando gli empj alzeranno il capo, gli uomini anderanno a nascondersi: quando quelli saranno spenti, moltiplicheranno i giusti.	28 When the wicked gain pre-eminence, other men hide; but at their fall the just flourish.
