ου μην δε αλλα ακουσον ιωβ τα ρηματα μου και λαλιαν ενωτιζου μου1 Therefore, hear my speeches, Job, and listen to all my words.
ιδου γαρ ηνοιξα το στομα μου και ελαλησεν η γλωσσα μου2 Behold, I have opened my mouth; let my tongue speak along with my throat.
καθαρα μου η καρδια ρημασιν συνεσις δε χειλεων μου καθαρα νοησει3 My words are from my simple heart, and my lips will speak a pure judgment.
πνευμα θειον το ποιησαν με πνοη δε παντοκρατορος η διδασκουσα με4 The Spirit of God made me, and the breath of the Almighty gave me life.
εαν δυνη δος μοι αποκρισιν προς ταυτα υπομεινον στηθι κατ' εμε και εγω κατα σε5 If you can, answer me, and oppose me to my face.
εκ πηλου διηρτισαι συ ως και εγω εκ του αυτου διηρτισμεθα6 Behold, God has made me, just as he also has made you, and I, likewise, have been formed of the same clay.
ουχ ο φοβος μου σε στροβησει ουδε η χειρ μου βαρεια εσται επι σοι7 So, truly, do not let my wonders terrify you, and do not let my eloquence be burdensome to you.
πλην ειπας εν ωσιν μου φωνην ρηματων σου ακηκοα8 For you have spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of your words, saying:
διοτι λεγεις καθαρος ειμι ουχ αμαρτων αμεμπτος δε ειμι ου γαρ ηνομησα9 “I am clean and without sin; I am immaculate, and there is no iniquity in me.
μεμψιν δε κατ' εμου ευρεν ηγηται δε με ωσπερ υπεναντιον10 Yet he has discovered blame in me, and so he has treated me like his enemy.
εθετο δε εν ξυλω τον ποδα μου εφυλαξεν δε μου πασας τας οδους11 He has put my feet in fetters; he has kept watch over all my ways.”
πως γαρ λεγεις δικαιος ειμι και ουκ επακηκοεν μου αιωνιος γαρ εστιν ο επανω βροτων12 Therefore, it is for this reason that you have not been justified. For I tell you that God is greater than man.
λεγεις δε δια τι της δικης μου ουκ επακηκοεν παν ρημα13 Do you contend against him because he has not responded to all of your words?
εν γαρ τω απαξ λαλησαι ο κυριος εν δε τω δευτερω ενυπνιον14 God speaks once, and he does not repeat the same thing a second time.
η εν μελετη νυκτερινη ως οταν επιπιπτη δεινος φοβος επ' ανθρωπους επι νυσταγματων επι κοιτης15 Through a dream in a vision of the night, when a deep sleep falls over men, and they are sleeping in their beds,
τοτε ανακαλυπτει νουν ανθρωπων εν ειδεσιν φοβου τοιουτοις αυτους εξεφοβησεν16 then, he opens the ears of men, and, educating them, he teaches discipline,
αποστρεψαι ανθρωπον εξ αδικιας το δε σωμα αυτου απο πτωματος ερρυσατο17 so that he may divert a man from the things that he is doing, and may free him from pride,
εφεισατο δε της ψυχης αυτου απο θανατου και μη πεσειν αυτον εν πολεμω18 rescuing his soul from corruption and his life from passing away by the sword.
παλιν δε ηλεγξεν αυτον εν μαλακια επι κοιτης και πληθος οστων αυτου εναρκησεν19 Likewise, he rebukes by sorrow in bed, and he causes all of his bones to become weak.
παν δε βρωτον σιτου ου μη δυνηται προσδεξασθαι και η ψυχη αυτου βρωσιν επιθυμησει20 Bread becomes abominable to him in his life, and, to his soul, the meat which before he desired.
εως αν σαπωσιν αυτου αι σαρκες και αποδειξη τα οστα αυτου κενα21 His body will waste away, and his bones, which had been covered, will be revealed.
ηγγισεν δε εις θανατον η ψυχη αυτου η δε ζωη αυτου εν αδη22 His soul has approached corruption, and his life has drawn near to what is deadly.
εαν ωσιν χιλιοι αγγελοι θανατηφοροι εις αυτων ου μη τρωση αυτον εαν νοηση τη καρδια επιστραφηναι επι κυριον αναγγειλη δε ανθρωπω την εαυτου μεμψιν την δε ανοιαν αυτου δειξη23 If there were an angel speaking for him, one among thousands, to declare the fairness of the man,
ανθεξεται του μη πεσειν αυτον εις θανατον ανανεωσει δε αυτου το σωμα ωσπερ αλοιφην επι τοιχου τα δε οστα αυτου εμπλησει μυελου24 he will have mercy on him, and he will say, “Free him, so that he will not descend to destruction. I have found a reason to be favorable to him.
απαλυνει δε αυτου τας σαρκας ωσπερ νηπιου αποκαταστησει δε αυτον ανδρωθεντα εν ανθρωποις25 His body is consumed by suffering. Let him return to the days of his youth.”
ευξαμενος δε προς κυριον και δεκτα αυτω εσται εισελευσεται δε προσωπω καθαρω συν εξηγορια αποδωσει δε ανθρωποις δικαιοσυνην26 He will beg pardon from God, and he will be soothing to him; and he will look upon his face in jubilation, and he will restore his justice to man.
ειτα τοτε απομεμψεται ανθρωπος αυτος εαυτω λεγων οια συνετελουν και ουκ αξια ητασεν με ων ημαρτον27 He will consider mankind, and he will say: “I have sinned and truly I have offended, yet I was not treated as I deserved.”
σωσον ψυχην μου του μη ελθειν εις διαφθοραν και η ζωη μου φως οψεται28 He has freed his soul from continuing into destruction, so that, in living, it may see the light.
ιδου παντα ταυτα εργαται ο ισχυρος οδους τρεις μετα ανδρος29 Behold, all these things God works three times within each one,
αλλ' ερρυσατο την ψυχην μου εκ θανατου ινα η ζωη μου εν φωτι αινη αυτον30 so that he may revive their souls from corruption and enlighten them with the light of life.
ενωτιζου ιωβ και ακουε μου κωφευσον και εγω ειμι λαλησω31 Pay attention Job, and listen to me; and remain silent, while I speak.
ει εισιν λογοι αποκριθητι μοι λαλησον θελω γαρ δικαιωθηναι σε32 Yet, if you have anything to say, answer me and speak, for I want you to be treated justly.
ει μη συ ακουσον μου κωφευσον και διδαξω σε σοφιαν33 But if you do not have anything to say, then listen to me. Be quiet and I will teach you wisdom.
