KING JAMES BIBLE | NOVA VULGATA |
---|---|
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; | 1 Fili mi, si susceperis sermones meos et mandata mea absconderis penes te, |
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; | 2 intendens ad sapientiam aurem tuam, inclinans cor tuum ad cognoscendam prudentiam; |
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; | 3 si enim sapientiam invocaveris et dederis vocem tuam prudentiae, |
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; | 4 si quaesieris eam quasi pecuniam et sicut thesauros conquisieris illam, |
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. | 5 tunc intelleges timorem Domini et scientiam Dei invenies. |
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. |
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. | 7 Thesaurizabit rectis sollertiam et clipeus erit gradientibus simpliciter |
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. | 8 servans semitas iustitiae et vias sanctorum custodiens. |
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. | 9 Tunc intelleges iustitiam et iudicium et aequitatem et omnem semitam bonam, |
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; | 10 quia intrabit sapientia cor tuum, et scientia animae tuae placebit. |
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: | 11 Consilium custodiet te, et prudentia servabit te, |
To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; | 12 ut eruaris a via mala et ab homine, qui perversa loquitur; |
Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; | 13 qui relinquunt iter rectum, ut ambulent per vias tenebrosas; |
Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; | 14 qui laetantur, cum malefecerint, et exsultant in rebus pessimis: |
Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: | 15 quorum viae perversae sunt, et pravi gressus eorum. |
To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words; | 16 Ut eruaris a muliere aliena et ab extranea, quae mollit sermones suos |
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God. |
For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life. |
That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it. |
