Proverbi 2

DIODATI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 FIGLIUOL mio, se tu ricevi i miei detti, E riponi appo te i miei comandamenti,	1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
2 Rendendo il tuo orecchio attento alla Sapienza; Se tu inchini il tuo cuore all’intendimento,	2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
3 E se tu chiami la prudenza, E dài fuori la tua voce all’intendimento;	3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
4 Se tu la cerchi come l’argento, E l’investighi come i tesori;	4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
5 Allora tu intenderai il timor del Signore, E troverai la conoscenza di Dio.	5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
6 Perciocchè il Signore dà la sapienza; Dalla sua bocca procede la scienza e l’intendimento.	6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
7 Egli riserba la ragione a’ diritti; Egli è lo scudo di quelli che camminano in integrità;	7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
8 Per guardare i sentieri di dirittura, E custodire la via de’ suoi santi.	8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
9 Allora tu intenderai giustizia, giudicio, E dirittura, ed ogni buon sentiero	9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 Quando la sapienza sarà entrata nel cuor tuo, E la scienza sarà dilettevole all’anima tua;	10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,
11 L’avvedimento ti preserverà, La prudenza ti guarderà;	11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
12 Per liberarti dalla via malvagia, Dagli uomini che parlano di cose perverse;	12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
13 I quali lasciano i sentieri della dirittura, Per camminar per le vie delle tenebre;	13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
14 I quali si rallegrano di far male, E festeggiano nelle perversità di malizia;	14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
15 I quali son torti nelle lor vie, E traviati ne’ lor sentieri.	15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
16 Per iscamparti ancora dalla donna straniera; Dalla forestiera che parla vezzosamente;	16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
17 La quale ha abbandonato il conduttor della sua giovanezza, Ed ha dimenticato il patto del suo Dio.	17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
18 Conciossiachè la casa di essa dichini alla morte, Ed i suoi sentieri a’ morti.	18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
19 Niuno di coloro ch’entrano da essa non ne ritorna, E non riprende i sentieri della vita.	19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
20 Acciocchè ancora tu cammini per la via de’ buoni, Ed osservi i sentieri de’ giusti.	20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
21 Perciocchè gli uomini diritti abiteranno la terra, E gli uomini intieri rimarranno in essa.	21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
22 Ma gli empi saranno sterminati dalla terra, E i disleali ne saranno divelti	22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
