| 6 Ainda mesmo que sua estatura chegasse até o céu e sua cabeça tocasse as nuvens, | 6 Towering to the sky he may have been, his head touching the clouds; |
| 7 como o seu próprio esterco, ele perecerá para sempre. Aqueles que tinham visto indagarão: ‘Onde ele está?’. | 7 but he vanishes, like a phantom, once for al , while those who used to see him, ask, 'Where is he?' |

| 10 Seus filhos deverão indenizar os pobres e suas mãos restituir suas riquezas. | 10 His sons will have to reimburse the poor and his children pay back his riches. |

| 14 esse alimento se transformará em suas entranhas e se converterá interiormente em fel de áspides. | 14 Such food goes bad in his bel y, working inside him like the poison of a viper. |
| 15 Ele vomitará as riquezas que engoliu; Deus as fará sair-lhe do seu ventre. | 15 Now he has to vomit up the wealth that he has swal owed, God makes him disgorge it. |
| 16 Sugava veneno de áspides e a língua da víbora o matará. | 16 He used to suck vipers' venom, and the tongue of the adder kills him. |
| 17 Não mais verá correr os riachos de óleo, nem as torrentes de mel e de manteiga. | 17 No more will he know the streams of oil or the torrents of honey and cream. |
| 18 Vomitará seu ganho sem poder engoli-lo e não gozará o lucro de seu comércio. | 18 When he gives back his winnings, his cheerfulness wil fade, and the satisfied air he had whenbusiness was thriving. |
| 19 Porque maltratou, desamparou os pobres e roubou uma casa que não tinha construído. | 19 Since he once destroyed the huts of the poor, plundering houses instead of building them up, |
| 20 Porque sua avidez é insaciável, não salvará o que lhe era mais caro. | 20 since his avarice could never be satisfied, now al his hoarding will not save him; |
| 21 Nada escapava à sua voracidade, por isso que sua felicidade não há de durar. | 21 since nothing could escape his greed, his prosperity wil not last. |
| 22 Em plena abundância sentirá escassez e todos os golpes da infelicidade caem sobre ele. | 22 When he has everything he needs, want wil seize him, and misery wil light on him with all its force. |
| 23 Para encher-lhe o ventre Deus desencadeia o fogo de sua cólera, fazendo chover a dor sobre ele. | 23 On him God looses al his burning wrath, hurling against his flesh a hail of arrows. |
| 24 Se escapa diante da arma de ferro, o arco de bronze o traspassa. | 24 If he escapes the weapons of iron, the bow of bronze wil transfix him. |
| 25 Um dardo sai-lhe das costas, um aço fulgurante sai-lhe do fígado. O terror desaba sobre ele. | 25 Out of his back sticks an arrow, from his gal a shining point. The terrors advance on him, |
| 26 Todas as trevas ocultas lhe serão reservadas. Um fogo, que o homem não acendeu, o devora e consome o que sobra em sua tenda. | 26 all the hidden darknesses are waiting to carry him off. A fire unlit by human hand devours him, andconsumes what is left in his tent. |
| 27 Os céus revelarão sua culpa e a terra se levantará contra ele. | 27 The heavens lay bare his iniquity, and the earth rises up against him. |
| 28 Uma torrente arrastará sua casa, será levada no dia da cólera divina. | 28 The income of his house pours away, like the torrents, on the day of retribution. |
| 29 Tal é a sorte que Deus reserva ao ímpio, tal é a herança que Deus lhe destina”. | 29 Such is the fate God reserves for the wicked, the inheritance he assigns to the accursed! |
