Exodus 29

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Sed et hoc facies, ut mihi in sacerdotio consecrentur. Tolle vitulum de armento, et arietes duos immaculatos,	1 'This is what you will do to them, to consecrate them to my priesthood. Take one young bull and tworams without blemish;
2 panesque azymos, et crustulam absque fermento, quæ conspersa sit oleo, lagana quoque azyma oleo lita : de simila triticea cuncta facies.	2 also unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil,made from fine wheat flour,
3 Et posita in canistro offeres : vitulum autem et duos arietes.	3 and put these into a basket and present them in the basket, at the same time as the bul and the tworams.
4 Et Aaron ac filios ejus applicabis ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii. Cumque laveris patrem cum filiis suis aqua,	4 'You will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and bathe them.
5 indues Aaron vestimentis suis, id est, linea et tunica, et superhumerali et rationali, quod constringes balteo.	5 You will then take the vestments and dress Aaron in the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod, andthe breastplate, and tie the waistband of the ephod round his waist.
6 Et pones tiaram in capite ejus, et laminam sanctam super tiaram,	6 Then you will place the turban on his head, and on it put the symbol of holy consecration.
7 et oleum unctionis fundes super caput ejus : atque hoc ritu consecrabitur.	7 You will then take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and so anoint him.
8 Filios quoque illius applicabis, et indues tunicis lineis, cingesque balteo,	8 'Next, you wil bring his sons and dress them in tunics,
9 Aaron scilicet et liberos ejus, et impones eis mitras : eruntque sacerdotes mihi religione perpetua. Postquam initiaveris manus eorum,	9 and fasten waistbands round their waists and put the head-dresses on their heads. By perpetualdecree the priesthood will be theirs. Then you wil invest Aaron and his sons.
10 applicabis et vitulum coram tabernaculo testimonii. Imponentque Aaron et filii ejus manus super caput illius,	10 'You wil bring the bul in front of the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands onthe bul 's head.
11 et mactabis eum in conspectu Domini, juxta ostium tabernaculi testimonii.	11 You wil then slaughter the bull before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
12 Sumptumque de sanguine vituli, pones super cornua altaris digito tuo, reliquum autem sanguinem fundes juxta basim ejus.	12 You wil then take some of the bull's blood and with your finger put it on the horns of the altar. Next,pour out the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar.
13 Sumes et adipem totum qui operit intestina, et reticulum jecoris, ac duos renes, et adipem qui super eos est, et offeres incensum super altare :	13 And then take al the fat covering the entrails, the fatty mass over the liver, the two kidneys with theircovering fat, and burn them on the altar.
14 carnes vero vituli et corium et fimum combures foris extra castra, eo quod pro peccato sit.	14 But the young bul 's flesh, its skin and its offal, you wil burn outside the camp, for this is a sinoffering.
15 Unum quoque arietem sumes, super cujus caput ponent Aaron et filii ejus manus.	15 'Next, you will take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands on the ram's head.
16 Quem cum mactaveris, tolles de sanguine ejus, et fundes circa altare.	16 You wil then slaughter the ram, take its blood and pour it against the altar, al round.
17 Ipsum autem arietem secabis in frustra : lotaque intestina ejus ac pedes, pones super concisas carnes, et super caput illius.	17 Next, cut the ram into quarters, wash the entrails and legs and put them on the quarters and head.
18 Et offeres totum arietem in incensum super altare : oblatio est Domino, odor suavissimus victimæ Domini.	18 Then burn the whole ram on the altar. This wil be a burnt offering for Yahweh, a pleasing smel , afood offering burnt for Yahweh.
19 Tolles quoque arietem alterum, super cujus caput Aaron et filii ejus ponent manus.	19 'Next, you will take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands on the ram's head.
20 Quem cum immolaveris, sumes de sanguine ejus, et pones super extremum auriculæ dextræ Aaron et filiorum ejus, et super pollices manus eorum ac pedis dextri, fundesque sanguinem super altare per circuitum.	20 You wil then slaughter the ram, take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, onthe lobes of his sons' right ears, the thumbs of their right hands, and the big toes of their right feet, and pour therest of the blood against the altar, al round.
21 Cumque tuleris de sanguine qui est super altare, et de oleo unctionis, asperges Aaron et vestes ejus, filios et vestimenta eorum. Consecratisque ipsis et vestibus,	21 You wil then take some of the blood on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it onAaron and his vestments and on his sons and on his sons' vestments: so that he and his vestments wil beconsecrated and his sons too, and his sons' vestments.
22 tolles adipem de ariete, et caudam et arvinam, quæ operit vitalia, ac reticulum jecoris, et duos renes, atque adipem, qui super eos est, armumque dextrum, eo quod sit aries consecrationis :	22 'You wil then take the fatty parts of the ram: the tail, the fat covering the entrails, the fatty mass overthe liver, the two kidneys with their covering fat and also the right thigh -- for this is a ram of investiture-
23 tortamque panis unius, crustulam conspersam oleo, laganum de canistro azymorum, quod positum est in conspectu Domini :	23 and a loaf of bread, a cake of bread made with oil, and a wafer, from the basket of unleavened breadbefore Yahweh,
24 ponesque omnia super manus Aaron et filiorum ejus, et sanctificabis eos elevans coram Domino.	24 and put it all on the palms of Aaron and his sons, and make the gesture of offering before Yahweh.
25 Suscipiesque universa de manibus eorum : et incendes super altare in holocaustum, odorem suavissimum in conspectu Domini, quia oblatio ejus est.	25 Then you wil take them back and burn them on the altar, on top of the burnt offering, as a smelpleasing before Yahweh, a food offering burnt for Yahweh.
26 Sumes quoque pectusculum de ariete, quo initiatus est Aaron, sanctificabisque illud elevatum coram Domino, et cedet in partem tuam.	26 'You wil then take the forequarters of the ram of Aaron's investiture and with it make the gesture ofoffering before Yahweh; this wil be your portion.
27 Sanctificabisque et pectusculum consecratum, et armum quem de ariete separasti,	27 You wil consecrate the forequarters that have been thus offered, as also the thigh that is set aside --what has been offered and what has been set aside from the ram of investiture of Aaron and his sons.
28 quo initiatus est Aaron et filii ejus, cedentque in partem Aaron et filiorum ejus jure perpetuo a filiis Israël : quia primitiva sunt et initia de victimis eorum pacificis quæ offerunt Domino.	28 This, by perpetual decree, wil be the portion that Aaron and his sons wil receive from the Israelites,since it is the portion set aside, the portion set aside for Yahweh by the Israelites from their communionsacrifices: a portion set aside for Yahweh.
29 Vestem autem sanctam, qua utetur Aaron, habebunt filii ejus post eum, ut ungantur in ea, et consecrantur manus eorum.	29 'Aaron's sacred vestments must pass to his sons after him, and they wil wear them for their anointingand investiture.
30 Septem diebus utetur illa qui pontifex pro eo fuerit constitutus de filiis ejus, et qui ingredietur tabernaculum testimonii ut ministret in sanctuario.	30 Whichever of the sons of Aaron succeeds him in the priesthood and enters the Tent of Meeting toserve in the sanctuary, wil wear them for seven days.
31 Arietem autem consecrationis tolles, et coques carnes ejus in loco sancto :	31 'You wil take the ram of investiture and cook its meat in a holy place.
32 quibus vescetur Aaron et filii ejus. Panes quoque, qui sunt in canistro, in vestibulo tabernaculi testimonii comedent,	32 Aaron and his sons wil eat the meat of the ram and the bread which is in the basket, at the entranceto the Tent of Meeting.
33 ut sit placabile sacrificium, et sanctificentur offerentium manus. Alienigena non vescetur ex eis, quia sancti sunt.	33 They will eat what was used in making expiation for them at their investiture and consecration. Nounauthorised person may eat these; they are holy things.
34 Quod si remanserit de carnibus consecratis, sive de panibus usque mane, combures reliquias igni : non comedentur, quia sanctificata sunt.	34 If any of the meat from the investiture sacrifice, or the bread, should be left til morning, you wil burnwhat is left. It may not be eaten; it is a holy thing.
35 Omnia, quæ præcepi tibi, facies super Aaron et filiis ejus. Septem diebus consecrabis manus eorum :	35 This is what you wil do for Aaron and his sons, implementing al the orders I have given you. You willtake seven days over their investiture.
36 et vitulum pro peccato offeres per singulos dies ad expiandum. Mundabisque altare cum immolaveris expiationis hostiam, et unges illud in sanctificationem.	36 'On each of the days you wil also offer a young bull as a sacrifice for sin, in expiation. You wil offer asin sacrifice for the altar when you make expiation for it; then you wil consecrate it by anointing it.
37 Septem diebus expiabis altare, et sanctificabis, et erit Sanctum sanctorum : omnis, qui tetigerit illud, sanctificabitur.	37 For seven days you will make expiation for the altar, then you wil consecrate it; it will then beespecial y holy, and whatever touches the altar wil become holy.
38 Hoc est quod facies in altari : agnos anniculos duos per singulos dies jugiter,	38 'This is what you must offer on the altar: two yearling male lambs each day in perpetuity.
39 unum agnum mane, et alterum vespere,	39 The first lamb you wil offer at dawn, and the second at twilight,
40 decimam partem similæ conspersæ oleo tuso, quod habeat mensuram quartam partem hin, et vinum ad libandum ejusdem mensuræ in agno uno.	40 and with the first lamb, one-tenth of a measure of fine flour mixed with one-quarter of a hin ofpounded olive oil and, for a libation, one-quarter of a hin of wine.
41 Alterum vero agnum offeres ad vesperam juxta ritum matutinæ oblationis, et juxta ea quæ diximus, in odorem suavitatis :	41 The second lamb you wil offer at twilight, and do it with a similar cereal offering and libation as atdawn, as a pleasing smel , as an offering burnt for Yahweh,
42 sacrificium est Domino, oblatione perpetua in generationes vestras, ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii coram Domino, ubi constituam ut loquar ad te.	42 a perpetual burnt offering for al your generations to come, at the entrance to the Tent of Meetingbefore Yahweh, where I shal meet you and speak to you.
43 Ibique præcipiam filiis Israël, et sanctificabitur altare in gloria mea.	43 'There I shal meet the Israelites in the place consecrated by my glory.
44 Sanctificabo et tabernaculum testimonii cum altari, et Aaron cum filiis suis, ut sacerdotio fungantur mihi.	44 I shal consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar; I shall also consecrate Aaron and his sons, to bepriests in my service.
45 Et habitabo in medio filiorum Israël, eroque eis Deus,	45 And I shal live with the Israelites and be their God,
46 et scient quia ego Dominus Deus eorum, qui eduxi eos de terra Ægypti, ut manerem inter illos, ego Dominus Deus ipsorum.	46 and they wil know that I am Yahweh their God, who brought them out of Egypt to live among them: I,Yahweh their God.'
