Exodus 29

1 Sed et hoc facies, ut mihi in sacerdotio consecrentur. Tolle vitulum de armento, et arietes duos immaculatos,	1 "This is the rite you shall perform in consecrating them as my priests. Procure a young bull and two unblemished rams.
2 panesque azymos, et crustulam absque fermento, quæ conspersa sit oleo, lagana quoque azyma oleo lita : de simila triticea cuncta facies.	2 With fine wheat flour make unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil,
3 Et posita in canistro offeres : vitulum autem et duos arietes.	3 and put them in a basket. Take the basket of them along with the bullock and the two rams.
4 Et Aaron ac filios ejus applicabis ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii. Cumque laveris patrem cum filiis suis aqua,	4 Aaron and his sons you shall also bring to the entrance of the meeting tent, and there wash them with water.
5 indues Aaron vestimentis suis, id est, linea et tunica, et superhumerali et rationali, quod constringes balteo.	5 Take the vestments and clothe Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself, and the breastpiece, fastening the embroidered belt of the ephod around him.
6 Et pones tiaram in capite ejus, et laminam sanctam super tiaram,	6 Put the miter on his head, the sacred diadem on the miter.
7 et oleum unctionis fundes super caput ejus : atque hoc ritu consecrabitur.	7 Then take the anointing oil and anoint him with it, pouring it on his head.
8 Filios quoque illius applicabis, et indues tunicis lineis, cingesque balteo,	8 Bring forward his sons also and clothe them with the tunics,
9 Aaron scilicet et liberos ejus, et impones eis mitras : eruntque sacerdotes mihi religione perpetua. Postquam initiaveris manus eorum,	9 gird them with the sashes, and tie the turbans on them. Thus shall the priesthood be theirs by perpetual law, and thus shall you ordain Aaron and his sons.
10 applicabis et vitulum coram tabernaculo testimonii. Imponentque Aaron et filii ejus manus super caput illius,	10 "Now bring forward the bullock in front of the meeting tent. There Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.
11 et mactabis eum in conspectu Domini, juxta ostium tabernaculi testimonii.	11 Then slaughter the bullock before the LORD, at the entrance of the meeting tent.
12 Sumptumque de sanguine vituli, pones super cornua altaris digito tuo, reliquum autem sanguinem fundes juxta basim ejus.	12 Take some of its blood and with your finger put it on the horns of the altar. All the rest of the blood you shall pour out at the base of the altar.
13 Sumes et adipem totum qui operit intestina, et reticulum jecoris, ac duos renes, et adipem qui super eos est, et offeres incensum super altare :	13 All the fat that covers its inner organs, as well as the lobe of its liver and its two kidneys, together with the fat that is on them, you shall take and burn on the altar.
14 carnes vero vituli et corium et fimum combures foris extra castra, eo quod pro peccato sit.	14 But the flesh and hide and offal of the bullock you must burn up outside the camp, since this is a sin offering.
15 Unum quoque arietem sumes, super cujus caput ponent Aaron et filii ejus manus.	15 "Then take one of the rams, and after Aaron and his sons have laid their hands on its head,
16 Quem cum mactaveris, tolles de sanguine ejus, et fundes circa altare.	16 slaughter it. The blood you shall take and splash on all the sides of the altar.
17 Ipsum autem arietem secabis in frustra : lotaque intestina ejus ac pedes, pones super concisas carnes, et super caput illius.	17 Cut the ram into pieces; its inner organs and shanks you shall first wash, and then put them with the pieces and with the head.
18 Et offeres totum arietem in incensum super altare : oblatio est Domino, odor suavissimus victimæ Domini.	18 The entire ram shall then be burned on the altar, since it is a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
19 Tolles quoque arietem alterum, super cujus caput Aaron et filii ejus ponent manus.	19 "After this take the other ram, and when Aaron and his sons have laid their hands on its head,
20 Quem cum immolaveris, sumes de sanguine ejus, et pones super extremum auriculæ dextræ Aaron et filiorum ejus, et super pollices manus eorum ac pedis dextri, fundesque sanguinem super altare per circuitum.	20 slaughter it. Some of its blood you shall take and put on the tip of Aaron's right ear and on the tips of his sons' right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and the great toes of their right feet. Splash the rest of the blood on all the sides of the altar.
21 Cumque tuleris de sanguine qui est super altare, et de oleo unctionis, asperges Aaron et vestes ejus, filios et vestimenta eorum. Consecratisque ipsis et vestibus,	21 Then take some of the blood that is on the altar, together with some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle this on Aaron and his vestments, as well as on his sons and their vestments, that his sons and their vestments may be sacred.
22 tolles adipem de ariete, et caudam et arvinam, quæ operit vitalia, ac reticulum jecoris, et duos renes, atque adipem, qui super eos est, armumque dextrum, eo quod sit aries consecrationis :	22 "Now, from this ram you shall take its fat: its fatty tail, the fat that covers its inner organs, the lobe of its liver, its two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and its right thigh, since this is the ordination ram;
23 tortamque panis unius, crustulam conspersam oleo, laganum de canistro azymorum, quod positum est in conspectu Domini :	23 then, out of the basket of unleavened food that you have set before the LORD, you shall take one of the loaves of bread, one of the cakes made with oil, and one of the wafers.
24 ponesque omnia super manus Aaron et filiorum ejus, et sanctificabis eos elevans coram Domino.	24 All these things you shall put into the hands of Aaron and his sons, so that they may wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.
25 Suscipiesque universa de manibus eorum : et incendes super altare in holocaustum, odorem suavissimum in conspectu Domini, quia oblatio ejus est.	25 After you have received them back from their hands, you shall burn them on top of the holocaust on the altar as a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
26 Sumes quoque pectusculum de ariete, quo initiatus est Aaron, sanctificabisque illud elevatum coram Domino, et cedet in partem tuam.	26 Finally, take the breast of Aaron's ordination ram and wave it as a wave offering before the LORD; this is to be your own portion.
27 Sanctificabisque et pectusculum consecratum, et armum quem de ariete separasti,	27 "Thus shall you set aside the breast of whatever wave offering is waved, as well as the thigh of whatever raised offering is raised up, whether this be the ordination ram or anything else belonging to Aaron or to his sons.
28 quo initiatus est Aaron et filii ejus, cedentque in partem Aaron et filiorum ejus jure perpetuo a filiis Israël : quia primitiva sunt et initia de victimis eorum pacificis quæ offerunt Domino.	28 Such things are due to Aaron and his sons from the Israelites by a perpetual ordinance as a contribution. From their peace offerings, too, the Israelites shall make a contribution, their contribution to the LORD.
29 Vestem autem sanctam, qua utetur Aaron, habebunt filii ejus post eum, ut ungantur in ea, et consecrantur manus eorum.	29 "The sacred vestments of Aaron shall be passed down to his descendants, that in them they may be anointed and ordained.
30 Septem diebus utetur illa qui pontifex pro eo fuerit constitutus de filiis ejus, et qui ingredietur tabernaculum testimonii ut ministret in sanctuario.	30 The descendant who succeeds him as priest and who is to enter the meeting tent to minister in the sanctuary shall be clothed with them for seven days.
31 Arietem autem consecrationis tolles, et coques carnes ejus in loco sancto :	31 "You shall take the flesh of the ordination ram and boil it in a holy place.
32 quibus vescetur Aaron et filii ejus. Panes quoque, qui sunt in canistro, in vestibulo tabernaculi testimonii comedent,	32 At the entrance of the meeting tent Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket.
33 ut sit placabile sacrificium, et sanctificentur offerentium manus. Alienigena non vescetur ex eis, quia sancti sunt.	33 They themselves are to eat of these things by which atonement was made at their ordination and consecration; but no layman may eat of them, since they are sacred.
34 Quod si remanserit de carnibus consecratis, sive de panibus usque mane, combures reliquias igni : non comedentur, quia sanctificata sunt.	34 If some of the flesh of the ordination sacrifice or some of the bread remains over on the next day, this remnant must be burned up; it is not to be eaten, since it is sacred.
35 Omnia, quæ præcepi tibi, facies super Aaron et filiis ejus. Septem diebus consecrabis manus eorum :	35 Carry out all these orders in regard to Aaron and his sons just as I have given them to you. "Seven days you shall spend in ordaining them,
36 et vitulum pro peccato offeres per singulos dies ad expiandum. Mundabisque altare cum immolaveris expiationis hostiam, et unges illud in sanctificationem.	36 sacrificing a bullock each day as a sin offering, to make atonement. Thus also shall you purge the altar in making atonement for it; you shall anoint it in order to consecrate it.
37 Septem diebus expiabis altare, et sanctificabis, et erit Sanctum sanctorum : omnis, qui tetigerit illud, sanctificabitur.	37 Seven days you shall spend in making atonement for the altar and in consecrating it. Then the altar will be most sacred, and whatever touches it will become sacred.
38 Hoc est quod facies in altari : agnos anniculos duos per singulos dies jugiter,	38 "Now, this is what you shall offer on the altar: two yearling lambs as the sacrifice established for each day;
39 unum agnum mane, et alterum vespere,	39 one lamb in the morning and the other lamb at the evening twilight.
40 decimam partem similæ conspersæ oleo tuso, quod habeat mensuram quartam partem hin, et vinum ad libandum ejusdem mensuræ in agno uno.	40 With the first lamb there shall be a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a hin of oil of crushed olives and, as its libation, a fourth of a hin of wine.
41 Alterum vero agnum offeres ad vesperam juxta ritum matutinæ oblationis, et juxta ea quæ diximus, in odorem suavitatis :	41 The other lamb you shall offer at the evening twilight, with the same cereal offering and libation as in the morning. You shall offer this as a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
42 sacrificium est Domino, oblatione perpetua in generationes vestras, ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii coram Domino, ubi constituam ut loquar ad te.	42 Throughout your generations this established holocaust shall be offered before the LORD at the entrance of the meeting tent, where I will meet you and speak to you.
43 Ibique præcipiam filiis Israël, et sanctificabitur altare in gloria mea.	43 "There, at the altar, I will meet the Israelites; hence, it will be made sacred by my glory.
44 Sanctificabo et tabernaculum testimonii cum altari, et Aaron cum filiis suis, ut sacerdotio fungantur mihi.	44 Thus I will consecrate the meeting tent and the altar, just as I also consecrate Aaron and his sons to be my priests.
45 Et habitabo in medio filiorum Israël, eroque eis Deus,	45 I will dwell in the midst of the Israelites and will be their God.
46 et scient quia ego Dominus Deus eorum, qui eduxi eos de terra Ægypti, ut manerem inter illos, ego Dominus Deus ipsorum.	46 They shall know that I, the LORD, am their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, so that I, the LORD, their God, might dwell among them.
