Tabernaculum vero ita facies : decem cortinas de bysso retorta, et hyacintho, ac purpura, coccoque bis tincto, variatas opere plumario facies.1 'The Dwelling itself you wil make with ten sheets of finely woven linen dyed violet-purple, red-purpleand crimson. You will have them embroidered with great winged creatures.
Longitudo cortinæ unius habebit viginti octo cubitos : latitudo, quatuor cubitorum erit. Unius mensuræ fient universa tentoria.2 The length of a single sheet is to be twenty-eight cubits, its width four cubits, al the sheets to be of thesame size.
Quinque cortinæ sibi jungentur mutuo, et aliæ quinque nexu simili cohærebunt.3 Five of the sheets are to be joined to one another, and the other five sheets are to be joined to oneanother.
Ansulas hyacinthinas in lateribus ac summitatibus facies cortinarum, ut possint invicem copulari.4 You will make violet loops along the edge of the first sheet, at the end of the set, and do the samealong the edge of the last sheet in the other set.
Quinquagenas ansulas cortina habebit in utraque parte, ita insertas ut ansa contra ansam veniat, et altera alteri possit aptari.5 You will make fifty loops on the first sheet and fifty loops along the outer edge of the sheet of thesecond set, the loops corresponding to one another.
Facies et quinquaginta circulos aureos quibus cortinarum vela jungenda sunt, ut unum tabernaculum fiat.6 You will also make fifty gold clasps, and join the sheets together with the clasps. In this way theDwelling wil be a unified whole.
Facies et saga cilicina undecim, ad operiendum tectum tabernaculi.7 'You will make sheets of goats' hair to form a tent over the Dwel ing; you wil make eleven of these.
Longitudo sagi unius habebit triginta cubitos, et latitudo, quatuor : æqua erit mensura sagorum omnium.8 The length of a single sheet must be thirty cubits and its width four cubits, the eleven sheets to be alof the same size.
E quibus quinque junges seorsum, et sex sibi mutuo copulabis, ita ut sextum sagum in fronte tecti duplices.9 You will join five sheets together into one set, and six sheets into another; the sixth you wil fold doubleover the front of the tent.
Facies et quinquaginta ansas in ora sagi unius, ut conjungi cum altero queat, et quinquaginta ansas in ora sagi alterius, ut cum altero copuletur.10 You wil make fifty loops along the edge of the first sheet, at the end of the first set, and fifty loopsalong the edge of the sheet of the second set.
Facies et quinquaginta fibulas æneas quibus jungantur ansæ, ut unum ex omnibus operimentum fiat.11 You wil make fifty bronze clasps and insert the clasps into the loops, to draw the tent together and tomake it a unified whole.
Quod autem superfuerit in sagis quæ parantur tecto, id est unum sagum quod amplius est, ex medietate ejus operies posteriora tabernaculi.12 'Of the extra part of the sheets that overlap, half is to hang down the back of the Dwel ing.
Et cubitus ex una parte pendebit, et alter ex altera qui plus est in sagorum longitudine, utrumque latus tabernaculi protegens.13 The extra cubit on either side along the length of the tent sheets must hang down the sides of theDwelling on either side to cover it.
Facies et operimentum aliud tecto de pellibus arietum rubricatis : et super hoc rursum aliud operimentum de janthinis pellibus.14 'And for the tent you will make a cover of rams' skins dyed red and a cover of fine leather over that.
Facies et tabulas stantes tabernaculi de lignis setim,15 'For the Dwelling you wil make vertical frames of acacia wood.
quæ singulæ denos cubitos in longitudine habeant, et in latitudine singulos ac semissem.16 Each frame must be ten cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.
In lateribus tabulæ, duæ incastraturæ fient, quibus tabula alteri tabulæ connectatur : atque in hunc modum cunctæ tabulæ parabuntur.17 Each frame must have twin tenons; that is how al the frames for the Dwelling must be made.
Quarum viginti erunt in latere meridiano quod vergit ad austrum.18 You wil make frames for the Dwel ing: twenty frames for the south side, to the south,
Quibus quadraginta bases argenteas fundes, ut binæ bases singulis tabulis per duos angulos subjiciantur.19 and make forty silver sockets under the twenty frames, two sockets under one frame for its twotenons, two sockets under the next frame for its two tenons;
In latere quoque secundo tabernaculi quod vergit ad aquilonem, viginti tabulæ erunt,20 and for the other side of the Dwel ing, the north side, twenty frames
quadraginta habentes bases argenteas, binæ bases singulis tabulis supponentur.21 and forty silver sockets, two sockets under one frame, two sockets under the next frame.
Ad occidentalem vero plagam tabernaculi facies sex tabulas,22 For the back of the Dwel ing, on the west, you wil make six frames,
et rursum alias duas quæ in angulis erigantur post tergum tabernaculi.23 and make two frames for the corners at the back of the Dwel ing;
Eruntque conjunctæ a deorsum usque sursum, et una omnes compago retinebit. Duabus quoque tabulis quæ in angulis ponendæ sunt, similis junctura servabitur.24 these must be coupled together at the bottom, and right up to the top, to the level of the first ring; thisfor the two frames that must form the two corners.
Et erunt simul tabulæ octo, bases earum argenteæ sedecim, duabus basibus per unam tabulam supputatis.25 Thus there wil be eight frames with their silver sockets: sixteen sockets; two sockets under oneframe and two sockets under the next frame.
Facies et vectes de lignis setim quinque ad continendas tabulas in uno latere tabernaculi,26 'You wil make crossbars of acacia wood: five for the frames of the first side of the Dwelling,
et quinque alios in altero, et ejusdem numeri ad occidentalem plagam :27 five crossbars for the frames of the opposite side of the Dwel ing, and five crossbars for the frameswhich form the back of the Dwel ing, to the west.
qui mittentur per medias tabulas a summo usque ad summum.28 The middle bar must join the frames from one end to the other, halfway up.
Ipsas quoque tabulas deaurabis, et fundes in eis annulos aureos per quos vectes tabulata contineant : quos operies laminis aureis.29 You wil overlay the frames with gold, make gold rings for them, through which to place thecrossbars, and overlay the crossbars with gold.
Et eriges tabernaculum juxta exemplar quod tibi in monte monstratum est.
This is how you must erect the Dwel ing, fol owing the design shown you on the mountain.
Facies et velum de hyacintho, et purpura, coccoque bis tincto, et bysso retorta, opere plumario et pulchra varietate contextum :31 'You wil make a curtain of finely woven linen, dyed violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, andembroidered with great winged creatures,
quod appendes ante quatuor columnas de lignis setim, quæ ipsæ quidem deauratæ erunt, et habebunt capita aurea, sed bases argenteas.32 and put it on four poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold, with golden hooks for them, set in foursockets of silver.
Inseretur autem velum per circulos, intra quod pones arcam testimonii, quo et sanctuarium, et sanctuarii sanctuaria dividentur.33 You wil put the curtain below the clasps, so that inside behind the curtain, you can place the ark ofthe Testimony, and the curtain wil mark the division for you between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.
Pones et propitiatorium super arcam testimonii in Sancto sanctorum,34 You wil put the mercy-seat on the ark of the Testimony in the Holy of Holies.
mensamque extra velum, et contra mensam candelabrum in latere tabernaculi meridiano : mensa enim stabit in parte aquilonis.35 You wil place the table outside the curtain, and the lamp-stand on the south side of the Dwel ing,opposite the table; you will put the table on the north side.
Facies et tentorium in introitu tabernaculi de hyacintho, et purpura, coccoque bis tincto, et bysso retorta, opere plumarii.36 For the entrance to the tent you wil make a screen of finely woven linen embroidered with violet-purple, red-purple and crimson,
Et quinque columnas deaurabis lignorum setim, ante quas ducetur tentorium : quarum erunt capita aurea, et bases æneæ.37 and for the screen you wil make five poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, with goldenhooks, and for them you wil cast five sockets of bronze.'
