Seconda Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Corinti 8

1 Fratelli, facciovi manifesta la grazia di Dio, la quale è data alle Chiese di Macedonia.	1 And so we are making known to you, brothers, the grace of God that has been given in the churches of Macedonia.
2 Chè in molto esperimento di tribulazione sì fu l'abbondanza del gaudio nostro; e l'altissima povertà loro abbondò nelle divizie dalla loro simplicità.	2 For within a great experience of tribulation, they have had an abundance of joy, and their profound poverty has only increased the richness of their simplicity.
3 Chè io rendo a loro testimonianza, secondo la loro virtù, o altra loro potenza,	3 And I bear witness to them, that they were willing to accept what was in accord with their ability, and even what was beyond their ability.
4 pregandoci con molta confortanza per avere la grazia e la communicazione ... la quale è fatta alli santi.	4 For they were begging us, with great exhortation, for the grace and the communication of the ministry that is with the saints.
5 E non solamente secondo che speravamo, ma eziandio diedero sè medesimi primieramente a Dio, e poi a noi per volontà di Dio,	5 And this is beyond what we had hoped, since they gave themselves, first of all to the Lord, and then also to us, through the will of God,
6 in tal guisa che noi pregammo Tito, ch' elli compia, secondo ch' elli incominciò, in questa grazia.	6 so much so that we petitioned Titus, that in the same manner as he had begun, he would also complete in you this same grace.
7 Pregovi che così abbondiate in questa grazia, secondo che voi in tutte cose abbondate, cioè in fede e in sermone, e nella scienza e in ogni sollecitudine, e in carità in noi.	7 But, just as in all things you abound in faith and in word and in knowledge and in all solicitude, and even more so in your charity toward us, so also may you abound in this grace.
8 E questo non dico secondo che comandatore, ma per sollecitudine delli altri, eziandio lodando li buoni ingegni della vostra carità.	8 I am speaking, not commanding. But through the solicitude of others, I approve of the good character of your charity.
9 Chè voi sapete la grazia che ne fece il nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, che essendo egli ricco, fece sè per noi povero, acciò che per la sua povertà voi fuste ricchi.	9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that through his poverty, you might become rich.
10 E in questo do consiglio; chè [quest' è utile a voi], secondo che voi incominciaste, non solamente a fare, ma eziandio a volere insino dal primo anno,	10 And about this, I give my counsel. For this is useful to those of you who, only a year earlier, had just begun to act, or even to be willing to act.
11 che voi ora compiate di fatto; e secondo ch' egli è pronto l' animo della volontà (a volere), così è pronto a compiere di quella cosa che avete (accetta).	11 So, truly now, accomplish this in deed, so that, in the same manner as your willing mind is prompted, you may also act, out of that which you have.
12 Chè se la volontà è pronta, a quello ch' ella ha ricevuto sì è piacevole, e non secondo quello che non ha.	12 For when the will is prompted, it receives according to what that person has, not according to what that person does not have.
13 E questo non dico, perchè sia agli altri remissione (e allargamento) e a voi tribulazione, ma perchè con eguaglianza	13 And it is not that others should be relieved, while you are troubled, but that there should be an equality.
14 in questo presente tempo la vostra ricchezza riempia la loro povertà, acciò che l'abbondanza loro sia riempimento della vostra menomanza, perchè sia agguaglianza, secondo ch' è scritto:	14 In this present time, let your abundance supply their need, so that their abundance may also supply your need, in order that there may be an equality, just as it was written:
15 quelli che molto ha, non abbondò; e quelli che ha poco, non gli venne meno.	15 “He with more did not have too much; and he with less did not have too little.”
16 Grazia rendo a Dio, il quale diede quella medesima sollecitudine nel cuore di Tito per voi,	16 But thanks be to God, who has granted to the heart of Titus, this same solicitude for you.
17 (secondo che diede a me) chè certo egli ricevette confortamento; e con ciò sia che fosse più sollicito, con propria volontà venne a voi.	17 For certainly, he accepted the exhortation. But since he was more solicitous, he went to you of his own free will.
18 Mandammo con lui il nostro fratello (Luca), la laude del quale è per tutte le Chiese, per l' evangelio ( ch' elli fece).	18 And we have even sent with him a brother whose praise accompanies the Gospel throughout all the churches.
19 E non solamente egli è questo, ma eziandio egli è ordinato dalle Chiese per mio compagno (a predicare la parola di Dio) in questa grazia, la quale è amministrata (e donata) da noi a gloria di Dio, cessandone la nostra volontà.	19 And not only that, but he was also chosen by the churches to be a companion for our sojourn in this grace, which is ministered by us with our determined will, to the glory of the Lord.
20 E questo si è, perchè alcuno non ci vituperi in questa pienezza ch' é ministrata da noi.	20 So let us avoid this, lest anyone disparage us over the abundance that is ministered by us.
21 E provvedemo le buone cose, non solamente davanti a Dio, ma eziandio davanti alli uomini.	21 For we provide for what is good, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of men.
22 Mandammo (ancora) con loro eziandio il nostro fratello (Apollo), il quale avemo provato spesse volte in molte guise, ch' egli è sollecito; e ora è molto più sollecito, avendo molta fidanza in voi,	22 And we have also sent with them our brother, whom we have proven to be frequently solicitous in many matters. But now there is a greater solicitousness, which is greatly entrusted to you;
23 (adunque) ovver per Tito il quale è mio compagno e vostro aiutatore, ovver per li miei tratelli, apostoli delle [Chiese], gloria di Dio.	23 and whether it concerns Titus, who is a companion to me and a helper to you, or whether it concerns our brothers, the Apostles of the churches, it is to the glory of Christ.
24 Mostrate a costoro mostramento della vostra carità, e della nostra gloria per voi, veduta dalle Chiese di Dio.	24 Therefore, in the sight of the churches, show them the proof of your charity and of our glorying about you.
