1 Io vi ho detto queste cose, acciò non vi scandalizzate.	1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2 Vi faranno essere senza le sinagoghe; ma egli è venuta l'ora, che ogni uomo che vi uccide, creda prestare servizio a Dio.	2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3 E queste cose faranno a voi, imperò che non hanno conosciuto il Padre, nè etiam me.	3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4 Ma vi ho detto queste cose, perchè quando sarà venuta l' ora, vi arricordiate ch' io ve l'ho detto.	4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5 Ma queste cose non ve le ho detto dal principio, imperò ch' io era vosco; e [ora] io vo a quello che mi mandò; e nullo di voi mi dimanda: dove vai?	5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6 Ma perchè io ho parlato con voi, il cuore vostro è ripieno di tristizia.	6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7 Ma io vi dico la verità; egli è di bisogno a voi, ch' io vada; imperò che se io non vo, il Paraclito non verrà a voi; ma se io vo, io il mandarò a voi.	7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 E quando egli verrà, lui reprenderà il mondo. del peccato, e di giudicio, e di giustizia.	8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Di peccato, imperò che non credettero in me.	9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 E di giustizia, imperò ch' io vo al Padre, e più non mi vederete.	10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Di giudizio, imperò che il principe di questo mondo è già giudicato.	11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 Anche vi ho io a dire molte cose, le quali voi non le potreste ora portare.	12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Ma quando verrà lo Spirito della verità, egli v' insegnarà ogni verità, e non parlarà da sè; ma parlarà quello che ha udito, e quelle cose che debbono venire annunciarà a voi.	13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 Egli mi clarificarà, imperò che 'l torrà del mio, e annunciaravvelo.	14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 Tutte le cose che ha il Padre (mio), sono mie. Però vi ho detto, che egli toglierà del mio, e annunciarà a voi.	15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16 Uno poco, e già non mi vederete; e poi uno poco, e vederetemi, imperò ch' io vo al Padre.	16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
17 Dissero gli discepoli suoi l'uno all' altro : che è questo ch' egli dice a noi: uno poco, e non mi vederete, e poi uno poco, e vederetemi, imperò ch' io vo al Padre?	17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
18 Dissero infra loro: che è questo ch' egli dice: [uno poco]? imperò che noi non sappiamo quello ch' egli parla.	18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
19 Ma Iesù conobbe che loro il volevano dimandare, e disse a loro: voi dimandate infra voi di quello che dissi, cioè: uno poco, e non mi vederete, e poi uno poco, e vederetemi.	19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
20 In verità, in verità io vi dico: voi vi contristarete e piangerete, e il mondo si rallegrárà; e voi vi contristarete, ma la vostra tristizia si convertira in gaudio.	20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
21 La femina, quando partorisce, ha tristizia, però che viene l' ora sua; ma quando ha partorito il fanciullo, non si ricorda più della pena, per la allegrezza ha, ch' è nato l' uomo nel mondo.	21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22 E voi avete ora tristizia; ma ancora io vi vederò, e rallegrarassi il cuore vostro, e la vostra allegrezza niuno toglierà da voi.	22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
23 E in quello giorno a me non dimandarete alcuna cosa. In verità, in verità vi dico che se voi addimandarete alcuna cosa nel nome mio al Padre mio, egli ve la darà.	23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Insino a ora voi non avete dimandato alcuna cosa nel mio nome; addimandate, e riceverete, sì che la allegrezza vostra sia piena.	24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
25 Queste cose vi ho io detto in proverbio. Ma il viene l'ora nella quale io non vi parlerò più in proverbii, ma manifestamente vi annunciarò del Padre mio.	25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
26 E in quello giorno addimandarete nel nome mio; e io non vi dico che io prego il Padre mio per voi.	26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27 Imperò ch' esso Padre ama voi, imperò che voi avete amato me, e avete creduto che da Dio sono venuto.	27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 Io sono uscito dal Padre, e venuto nel mondo; ora lascio il mondo, e vo al Padre.	28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29 Dissero a lui gli discepoli suoi: ecco che ora ci parli apertamente, e non ci dici in proverbio.	29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30 Ora sappiamo che tu sai tutte le cose, e non è di bisogno che altri di nulla addimandi; e (imperò) crediamo questo, che da Dio sei uscito.	30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31 Rispose Iesù a quelli, (e disse:) ora credete?	31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 Ecco che il viene l'ora, e ora è venuta, che ciascuno sia disperso nella propria terra, e che me solo lasciate; e io non sono solo, imperò che il Padre è meco.	32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 Queste cose vi ho detto, perchè abbiate in me pace. Nel mondo voi avrete tribulazione; ma confidatevi, io ho vinto il mondo.	33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
