Ieremia 6

1 Confortatevi, figliuoli di Beniamin, nel mezzo di Ierusalem, (che tutta sì è uno luogo, come tu dicessi: la piazza de' signori), e in Tecua suonate colla tromba, e levate lo gonfalone sopra Betacarem; imperò che lo male è veduto d' aquilone, e grande contrizione.	1 “O sons of Benjamin, be strengthened in the midst of Jerusalem, and sound the trumpet in Tekoa, and lift up a banner over the house of Haccherem. For an evil has been seen from the north, with great destruction.
2 Io hoe assomigliata la figliuola di Sion alla persona bella e delicata.	2 I have compared the daughter of Zion to a beautiful and delicate woman.
3 Li pastori verranno a lei, e le loro greggie; ficcarono (e puosono) in lei nel circuito belle tende; ciascuno pascerà quelli li quali sono sotto la sua mano.	3 The pastors will come to her with their flocks. They have pitched their tents against her all around. Each one will feed those who are under his hand.
4 Santificate sopra lei le battaglie; levatevi suso, e ascendiamo nel mezzodì; guai a noi! però che lo die si è declinato (e venuto meno), però che l' ombra del vespro si è fatta più lunga.	4 ‘Sanctify a war against her! Rise up together, and let us ascend at midday.’ ‘Woe to us! For the day has declined; for the shadows of the evening have grown longer.’
5 Levatevi suso, e ascendiamo nella notte; e dissipiamo (e guastiamo) le sue case.	5 ‘Rise up, and let us ascend in the night, and let us destroy her houses.’ ”
6 Però che questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti (cioè Iddio): tagliate lo legno di lei, e spargete intorno a Ierusalem l' aggere; questa è la città di visitazione; ogni calunnia è in mezzo di lei.	6 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “Cut down her trees, and build a rampart around Jerusalem. This is the city of visitation! Every kind of false claim is in her midst.
7 Come la cisterna fae (e tiene) fredda l'acqua, così fece fredda la sua malizia; la iniquità e il guastamento si udirà in lei; innanzi a me sempre infirmitade e piaga.	7 Just as a cistern makes its water cold, so has she made her wickedness cold. Iniquity and devastation will be heard in her; sickness and wounds will be ever before me.
8 Ammaèstrati, Ierusalem, acciò che forse lo mio animo non si parta da te, e acciò che io forse non ti ponga per deserta, terra sanza abitazione.	8 O Jerusalem, accept instruction, lest perhaps my soul may withdraw from you; lest perhaps I may set you in a desert, in an uninhabitable land.”
9 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: insino al grappo coglieranno, quasi come nella vigna, lo rimanente d' Israel; converti la tua mano come lo vendemmiatore fae al paniere.	9 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “They will gather the remnant of Israel, even as a single cluster of grapes is gathered from a vine. Direct your hand, as a grape-gatherer directs his hand to the basket.
10 A chi parlerò io? e chi esorterò ch' elli oda? Ecco, le orecchie [loro] non sono circoncise, e non possono udire; ecco, la parola di Dio è detta loro in disonore (e non vollono udire) e non la riceveranno.	10 To whom should I speak, and to whom should I testify, so as to be heard? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and so they are unable to hear. Behold, for them, the word of the Lord has become a disgrace. And so they will not accept it.
11 Però io sono fatto ripieno del furore di Dio, io mi sono affaticato sostenendo; versa sopra lo piccolo di fuori, e insieme sopra lo consiglio de' giovani; (lo consiglio sì è propriamente lo minacciamento; così si fa per fare consiglio); l' uomo sarà preso colla femina, lo vecchio con quello che è pieno di dì.	11 For this reason, I have been filled with the fury of the Lord. I labor to bear it. Let it be poured out upon the child outside, or upon a group of young men meeting together. For a man will be taken captive with a woman, an elder will be taken captive with one who is full of days.
12 E passeranno le case loro alli altri, li campi e le mogli insieme; però ch' io estenderò la mia mano sopra quelli che àbitano la terra, dice Iddio.	12 And their houses will be given over to others, with both their lands and their wives. For I will extend my hand over the inhabitants of the earth, says the Lord.
13 Dal maggiore insino al minore, tutti studiano pure in avarizia; e da' profeti insino a' sacerdoti, tutti fanno inganno.	13 Certainly, from the least of them even to the greatest, all of them practice greed. And from the prophet even to the priest, all of them act with deceit.
14 E curavano la contrizione della figliuola del populo mio con vituperio (e con beffe) dicendo: pace pace; e non era pace.	14 And they healed the destruction of the daughter of my people with disgrace, by saying: ‘Peace, peace.’ And there was no peace.
15 Loro sono confusi, però che feciono abominazione; ma anco più, chè non sono confusi della sua confusione, e non si seppono vergognare; per la qual cosa cadranno tra coloro che ruineranno; e nel tempo della loro visitazione cadranno (morenti), dice Iddio.	15 They were confounded, because they committed an abomination. Or rather, they were not confounded with shame, because they did not know how to blush. For this reason, they will fall among those who are being destroyed. In the time of their visitation, they will fall, says the Lord.”
16 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: istate sopra le vie, e vedete e addimandate delle vie antiche, quale si è la via buona, e andate per quella; e troverete refrigerio all' anime vostre. E dissono: non v' anderemo.	16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand above the ways, and see and ask, about the ancient paths, as to which is the good way, and then walk in it. And you will find refreshment for your souls. But they said: ‘We will not walk.’
17 E io hoe ordinato sopra voi, riguardatori. Udite la voce della tromba. E dissono: non l'udiremo.	17 And I appointed watchers over you, saying: ‘Listen for the sound of the trumpet.’ And they said: ‘We will not listen.’
18 Però udite, genti, e conoscete, congregazioni, quante cose io farò loro.	18 For this reason, hear, O Gentiles, and know, O congregation, how much I will do to them.
19 Odi, terra: ecco io adduco male sopra questo populo, lo frutto delle sue cogitazioni; però che non udirono queste mie parole, e gittarono via la mia legge.	19 Hear, O earth! Behold, I will lead evils over this people, as the fruits of their own thoughts. For they have not listened to my words, and they have cast aside my law.
20 E perchè mi recate voi lo incenso di Saba (cioè d' una contrada), e lo calamo soave e odorifero di terra lontana? Li vostri olocausti non sono accetti; (lo olocausto sì è una offerta, si come diamo pane ad una chiesia); e le vostre bestie di questo sacrificio non piacqueno a me.	20 For what reason are you bringing me frankincense from Sheba, and sweet smelling reeds from a far away land? Your holocausts are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me.”
21 Però Iddio dice queste cose: ecco io darò a questo populo rovine, e rovineranno li loro padri e li figliuoli insieme; lo vicino col suo prossimo periranno.	21 Therefore, thus says the Lord: “Behold I will bring this people to utter ruin, and they will fall, with their fathers and sons; neighbor and relative will perish together.”
22 Questo dice Iddio: ecco lo popolo viene di terra d'acquilone, e grande gente si leverà de' confini della terra.	22 Thus says the Lord: “Behold, a people is coming from the land of the north, and a great nation will rise up from the ends of the earth.
23 Lo crudele si ha tolto (e preso) la saetta e lo scudo, e non averà misericordia: la voce sua sonerà come lo mare; e saliranno in su li cavalli, apparecchiati come uomo a battaglia, inverso te. figliuola di Sion.	23 They will take hold of arrow and shield. They are cruel, and they will not take pity. Their voice will roar like the ocean. And they will climb upon horses, for they have been prepared like men for battle, against you, O daughter of Zion.
24 Noi avemo udita la sua fama; dissolute sono le nostre mani, e la tribulazione ha preso noi, come li dolori di quella che partorisce.	24 ‘We have heard of their fame. Our hands have become weakened. Tribulation has overtaken us, like the pains of a woman giving birth.’
25 Non uscite fuori a campo, e e non andate nella via; però che il coltello dell' inimico è spavento nel circuito.	25 Do not choose to go out into the fields, and you should not walk along the roadway. For the sword and the terror of the enemy is on every side.
26 Figliuola del populo mio, cingiti di cilicio, e poni sopra te la cenere; fa che tu piagni come se tu avessi uno solo figliuolo, e quello fosse morto, e fa che sia pianto amaro; però che subito verrà sopra di voi chi vi dissiperà.	26 Wrap yourself in haircloth, O daughter of my people. And sprinkle yourself with ashes. Make a mourning for yourself, as for an only son, a bitter lamentation: ‘for the destroyer will overwhelm us suddenly.’
27 Io ho dato te, acciò che tu pruovi nel populo mio, e hotti fatto robusto; e saperai e proverai le vie loro.	27 I have presented you as a strong tester among my people. And you will test and know their way.
28 Tutti questi principi si partirono dalla via diritta, andando con fraude (per la via de' peccati), il rame e il ferro; tutti sono corrotti.	28 All these leaders who are turning away and walking deceitfully, they are brass and iron; they have all been corrupted.
29 Mancocci il mantice da suffiare, nel fuoco consumossi il piombo, invano il fabbro colò; però che le loro malizie non furono (purgate e) consunte.	29 The bellows has failed; the lead has been consumed by fire; the molten metal was melted to no purpose. For their wickedness has not been consumed.
30 Chiamate loro argento reprobato, però che il Signore li cacciò (da sè).	30 Call them: ‘Rejected silver.’ For the Lord has cast them aside.”
