Isaia 57

BIBBIA VOLGARE	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Lo giusto perisce, e non è chi pensi nel suo cuore; e li uomini della misericordia sono ricolti, però che non è chi c' intenda; e lo giusto perisce, (cioè Cristo, lo quale morì per noi, e non è chi ne pensi nel suo cuore, e li uomini della misericordia, cioè li apostoli, li quali furono mandati a noi, per la misericordia, a predicare e a narrare la fede di Cristo).	1 The just man perishes, and there is no one who acknowledges it in his heart; and men of mercy are taken away, for there is no one who understands. For the just man has been taken away before the face of malice.
2 Venga la pace; e riposisi nel suo letto, il quale andò e fu uomo di dirittura. (Per la pace s'intende Cristo, il quale fu tutto pacifico e diritto).	2 Let peace arrive. Let he who has walked in his righteousness find rest on his bed.
3 Ma voi venite qua, figliuoli della indovinatrice, che siete seme dello adultero e della fornicazione; (e ditemi:)	3 But come here, you sons of the prophetess, you offspring of an adulterous man and a fornicating woman.
4 Sopra cui avete fatto schernimento, e sopra cui si ampiaste la bocca e metteste fuori la lingua? or non siete voi figliuoli dello scellerato, e (siete) seme bugiardo?	4 Whom are you mocking? Against whom have you opened your mouth wide and wagged your tongue? Are you not sons of wickedness, a lying offspring,
5 Li quali avete la vostra consolazione nelli iddii, e offerite li vostri piccolini figliuoli sotto ad ogni arboro fronduto, (nelli fossatelli e) sotto le grandi pietre, soprastandovi nella parte del torrente?	5 who are being consoled by idols under every leafy tree, immolating little children at the torrents, under the high rocks?
6 La tua parte si è nelli nuvoli, e questa è la tua natura; e a coloro (desti e) spargesti lo sacrificio, e offeristi l'offerta. Or (non averò io indignazione sopra tutte queste cose?	6 Your portion is in the currents of the torrent; this is your lot! And you yourselves have poured out libations to them; you have offered sacrifice. Should I not be angry over these things?
7 Tu ponesti lo tuo letto sopra ogni grande e alto monte, e quivi salisti acciò che tu offerissi ivi le tue ostie.	7 Upon a high and lofty mountain, you have placed your bed, and you have ascended to that place to immolate victims.
8 E dopo l'uscio, di dietro ponesti lo tuo memoriale; però che ti scopristi a lato a me, e ricevesti l'adultero; allargasti lo tuo letto, e facesti con loro lo patto, e amasti lo loro letto colla mano aperta.	8 And behind the door, and beyond the post, you have set up your memorial. For you uncovered yourself next to me, and you received an adulterer. You widened your bed, and you formed a pact with them. You loved their bed with an open hand.
9 E adornasti te d' unguento regale, e moltiplicasti li tuoi lisciamenti (e li tuoi ornamenti varii). Mandasti li tuoi messaggi alla lunga (cioè a offerire), e seiti adumiliata (cioè messa a ogni miseria) insino alle estreme cose.	9 And you have adorned yourself for the king with ointments, and you have increased your cosmetics. You have sent your representatives to distant places, and you have debased yourself all the way to Hell.
10 Tu ti faticasti nella moltitudine della tua via, e non dicesti: io poserò; tu trovasti la vita alla tua mano, e però non pregasti.	10 You have been wearied by the multitude of your own ways. Yet you did not say, “I will cease.” You have found life by your own hand; because of this, you have not prayed.
11 E tu, (misera) sollecita, per chi temesti, però. che hai mentito, e non ti ricordasti di me, e non pensasti nel tuo cuore? Chè io son stato tacito, e quasi non vedente, e hai tu dimenticato me.	11 For whose sake have you been anxiously afraid, so that you would lie and not be mindful of me, nor consider me in your heart? For I am silent, and I am like someone who does not see, and so you have forgotten me.
12 Io annunzierò la tua giustizia, e le tue opere non faranno prode a te.	12 I will announce your justice, and your works will not benefit you.
13 Conciosia cosa che tu abbi gridato, allora vogli che li tuoi raccolti lìberino te; e tutti quelli (torrà e) porterà via lo vento; ma coloro, i quali hanno fidanza di me, erediteranno [la terra], e possederanno lo mio santo monte.	13 When you cry out, let your followers free you. But the wind will carry them all away; a breeze will take them up. But he who has faith in me will inherit the earth and will possess my holy mountain.
14 E io dirò fateli la via e dateli l'andare, partitevi del sentiere e togliete via l' offensione della via del populo mio.	14 And I will say: “Make way! Grant passage! Move to the side of the path! Take the obstacles out of the way of my people!”
15 Però che questo dice lo Signore alto e grande, il quale abita la eternitade; il suo santo nome istà in alto, e abita nel santo luogo, e con umile e contrito spirito, acciò ch' egli dia vita allo spirito ... de' contriti.	15 For this is said by the Most High, the Sublime One, who dwells in eternity. And his name is Holy, for he dwells in the exalted and holy place, and he acts with a restrained and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
16 Però ch' io non combatterò in sempiterno, e non mi adirerò insino alla fine; però che lo spirito uscirà fuori dalla mia faccia, e io farò li fiati.	16 For I will not contend unceasingly, and I will not be angry to the end. For I will exhale my breath, and the Spirit will go forth from my face.
17 E io mi sono adirato per la malvagitade della sua avarizia, e percossilo; e io nascosi a te la mia faccia, e sono indegnato (fortemente); e lo svagato andò pure per la via del suo cuore.	17 Because of the iniquity of his avarice, I was angry, and I struck him down. I concealed my face from you, and I was angry. And he went astray by wandering in his heart.
18 Io vidi le sue vie, e lo sanai e rimenai, e rendiedi le sue consolazioni a lui e alli suoi dolenti.	18 I saw his ways, and I healed him, and I led him back again, and I restored consolations to him and to those who mourn for him.
19 Io creai la pace, frutto delle labbra; e diedi pace a colui il quale è dalla lunga, e a colui che è appresso, così disse Iddio, e diedigli sanitade.	19 I created the fruit of the lips: peace, peace to him who is far away, and peace to him who is near, said the Lord, and I healed him.
20 Ma li malvagi sono sì come è il mare tempestoso, il quale non si puote posare; e la sua onda rendendo venne in conculcazione e pianto.	20 But the impious are like the raging sea, which is not able to be quieted, and its waves stir up dirt and mud.
21 E lo dice lo Signore Iddio, che niuno malvagio (spietato) mai puote avere pace.	21 There is no peace for the impious, says the Lord God.
