1 Ma lo Spirito dice apertamente che negli ultimi tempi alcuni apostateranno dalla fede, per dar retta agli spiriti ingannatori e alle dottrine dei demoni,	1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 ipocritamente mentitori, turpemente macchiati nella coscienza;	2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 che vietano le nozze e vogliono l'astensione dai cibi, creati da Dio per essere usati con azioni di grazie dai fedeli e da coloro che hanno conosciuta la verità;	3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 perchè tutto quello che Dio ha creato è buono e nessuna cosa è da rigettare, se presa con azioni di grazie,	4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 essendo santificata dalla parola di Dio e dall'orazione.	5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 Se proporrai queste cose ai fratelli, sarai buon ministro di Cristo Gesù nutrito delle parole della fede e della buona dottrina che tu hai ricevuta.	6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 Ma rigetta le profane favole da vecchierelle, ed esercitati invece nella pietà;	7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 perchè l'esercizio corporale serve a poco, ma la pietà è utile a tutto, avendo la promessa della vita presente e della futura.	8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 Questa è una verità certa e degna d'essere accettata,	9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 ed è per questo che ci affatichiamo e lottiamo, perchè abbiamo riposta la nostra speranza in Dio vivo, che è salvatore di tutti gli uomini, massime dei fedeli.	10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 Annunzia queste cose e insegnale.	11 These things command and teach.
12 Nessuno disprezzi la tua giovinezza, ma tu sii il modello dei fedeli nel parlare, nel conversare, nella carità, nella fede, nella castità.	12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Sino a che non vengo, attendi alla lettura, all'esortazione, all'insegnamento.	13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Non trascurare la grazia che è in te, e che ti fu data in virtù d'una profezia, coll'imposizione delle mani degli anziani.	14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Medita queste cose, vivi in esse, affinchè il tuo progresso sia palese a tutti.	15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Attendi a te e all'insegnamento e persevera in queste cose, perchè facendo così tu salverai te stesso e quelli che ti ascoltano.	16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
