Lettera agli Efesini 6

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Figlioli, obbedite ai vostri genitori nel Signore; ciò è giusto:	1 Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord -- that is what uprightness demands.
2 « Onora il tuo padre e la tua madre » è il primo comandamento accompagnato da promessa:	2 The first commandment that has a promise attached to it is: Honour your father and your mother,
3 affinchè tu sia felice e viva lunga­mente sulla terra ».	3 and the promise is: so that you may have long life and prosper in the land.
4 E voi, padri, non irritate i vostri figlioli, ma allevateli nella disciplina e negli ammonimenti del Signore.	4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and adviceinspired by the Lord.
5 Servi, obbedite a quelli che secondo la carne vi sono padroni, con rispetto e timore, nella semplicità del vostro cuore, come a Cristo,	5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are, according to human reckoning, your masters, with deep respectand sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ:
6 servendo non all'occhio quasi per piacere agli uomini, ma come servi di Cristo, facendo di cuore la volontà di Dio,	6 not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but as slaves ofChrist who wholeheartedly do the wil of God.
7 e servendo con affezione, come se si trattasse del Signore e non di uomini,	7 Work wil ingly for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of human beings.
8 ben sapendo che ciascuno, servo o libero che sia, riceverà dal Signore la ricompensa di ciò che avrà fatto di bene.	8 Never forget that everyone, whether a slave or a free man, wil be rewarded by the Lord for whateverwork he has done wel .
9 É voi, o padroni, fate altrettanto riguardo ad essi, astenendovi dalle minacce, ben sapendo che il padrone loro e vostro è nei cieli e che davanti ad esso non ci sono preferenze personali.	9 And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; do without threats, and neverforget that they and you have the same Master in heaven and there is no favouritism with him.
10 Del resto, o fratelli, diventate forti nel Signore e nella sua virtù potente.	10 Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.
11 Rivestitevi del­l'armatura di Dio per poter re­sistere alle insidie del diavolo;	11 Put on the ful armour of God so as to be able to resist the devil's tactics.
12 perchè non abbiamo da com­battere colla carne o col sangue, ma contro i principi e le potestà, contro i dominatori di questo mondo tenebroso, contro i mali­gni spiriti dell'aria.	12 For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and theruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.
13 Prendete quindi l'armatura di Dio, per poter resistere nel giorno cattivo, e, in tutto perfetti, restar vittoriosi.	13 That is why you must take up al God's armour, or you wil not be able to put up any resistance on theevil day, or stand your ground even though you exert yourselves to the ful .
14 State dunque saldi, cingendo il vostro fianco colla verità, vestiti della corazza della giustizia,	14 So stand your ground, with truth a belt round your waist, and uprightness a breastplate,
15 avendo i piedi calzati in preparazione al Vangelo di pace.	15 wearing for shoes on your feet the eagerness to spread the gospel of peace
16 Prendete sopra tutto lo scudo della fede, col quale possiate estinguere tutti gli infocati dardi del maligno.	16 and always carrying the shield of faith so that you can use it to quench the burning arrows of the EvilOne.
17 Prendete ancora l'elmo della saldezza e la spada dello spirito, cioè la Parola di Dio.	17 And then you must take salvation as your helmet and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.
18 E pregate continuamente in spirito, con ogni sorta di preghiere e di suppliche, e nello stesso spirito vegliate pregando con incessante perseveranza per tutti i santi,	18 In al your prayer and entreaty keep praying in the Spirit on every possible occasion. Never get tired ofstaying awake to pray for al God's holy people,
19 ed anche per me, affinchè quando parlo mi sia data la parola per manifestare francamente il mistero del Vangelo,	19 and pray for me to be given an opportunity to open my mouth and fearlessly make known the mysteryof the gospel
20 del quale sono un ambasciatore in catena, affinchè ne parli col coraggio che è conve­niente.	20 of which I am an ambassador in chains; pray that in proclaiming it I may speak as fearlessly as I oughtto.
21 Ora, affinchè voi pure siate informati riguardo alle mie cose, a ciò che faccio, tutto vi notifi­cherà Tichico, carissimo fratello e ministro fedele nel Signore.	21 So that you know, as well, what is happening to me and what I am doing, my dear friend Tychicus, mytrustworthy helper in the Lord, wil tel you everything.
22 Ve l'ho mandato appunto per farvi conoscere le mie cose e per­ chè egli consoli i vostri cuori.	22 I am sending him to you precisely for this purpose, to give you news about us and encourage youthoroughly.
23 Pace ai fratelli e carità e fede da Dio Padre e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	23 May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ grant peace, love and faith to al the brothers.
24 La grazia sia con tutti quelli che, senza lasciarsi corrompere, amano il Signore nostro Gesù Cristo. Così sia.	24 May grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ, in life imperishable.
