Zaccaria 7

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Nel quarto anno del re Dario, nel quarto giorno del nono mese, che è Casleu, la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Zaccaria.	1 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of Yahweh was addressed to Zechariah on the fourth day ofthe ninth month, the month of Chislev.
2 Allora avevan mandato alla casa di Dio Sarasar, Rogomelec e gli uomini che eran con lui, per pregare dinanzi al Signore,	2 Bethel sent Sharezer with a deputation to entreat Yahweh's favour
3 e per interrogare i sacerdoti della casa del Signore degli eserciti e i profeti, con queste parole: « Devo piangere il quinto mese, o devo purificarmi, come ho già fatto per molti anni? »	3 and to ask the priests in the Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth and the prophets, 'Ought I to go on mourningand fasting in the fifth month as I have been doing for so many years past?'
4 La parola del Signore degli eserciti mi fu rivolta in questi termini:	4 Then the word of Yahweh Sabaoth was addressed to me as fol ows,
5 « Parla a tutto il popolo del paese, e ai sacerdoti, e di' loro: — Quando voi digiunaste e piangeste il quinto e il settimo mese in questi settanta anni, faceste forse per me il vostro digiuno?	5 'Say to al the people of the country and to the priests, "While you have been fasting and mourning inthe fifth and seventh months for the past seventy years, have you real y been fasting for my sake?
6 E quando avete mangiato e bevuto, non avete forse mangiato e bevuto, per conto vostro?	6 And when you were eating and drinking, were you not eating and drinking for your own sake?
7 Non son forse queste le parole dette dal Signore per mezzo degli antichi profeti, quando Gerusalemme era piena di popolo e di ricchezze, essa e le città circonvicine, quando erano abitate le parti del mezzogiorno e le pianure? »	7 Do you not know the words which Yahweh proclaimed through the prophets in the past, whenJerusalem was inhabited and secure, as were her surrounding towns, and when the Negeb and the lowlandswere inhabited?" ' (
8 E la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Zaccaria in questi termini:	8 The word of Yahweh was addressed to Zechariah as fol ows,
9 « Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, dicendo: Giudicate secondo la verità, usate misericordia e compassione, ciascuno verso il suo fratello,	9 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this.) He said, "Apply the law fairly, and show faithful love and compassion towards one another.
10 e guardatevi dall'opprimer la vedova e l'orfano, il forestiero e il povero, e nessuno pensi nel suo cuore a far del male al fratello ».	10 Do not oppress the widow and the orphan, the foreigner and the poor, and do not secretly plan evilagainst one another."
11 Ma essi non vollero dar retta, voltarono lo ribelli spalle, e ingrossarono l'udito per non intendere.	11 But they would not listen; they turned a rebel ious shoulder; they stopped their ears rather than hear;
12 E resero il loro cuore come il diamante, per non ascoltare la legge e lo parole che il Signore degli eserciti, per mezzo del suo spirito, aveva messe in bocca agli antichi profeti; e ne venne la grande ira del Signore degli eserciti.	12 they made their hearts adamant rather than listen to the teaching and the words that Yahweh Sabaothhad sent -- by his spirit -- through the prophets in the past; and consequently the fury of Yahweh Sabaothovertook them.
13 E avvenne: « Siccome alle parole non han dato ascolto, essi grideranno, ed io non li esaudirò, — dice il Signore degli eserciti, — ne li ho dispersi per tutti i regni, loro ignoti, e, senza di essi, la terra è stata desolata, non essendoci chi andasse e venisse ». Così una terra di delizie l'han ridotta a un deserto.	13 And so, since when he cal ed they would not listen, "I would not listen when they called", says YahwehSabaoth,
	14 "but scattered them among al the nations unknown to them. Hence, after they had gone, the countrywas deserted, and no one came or went. They had turned a land of delights into a desert." '
