1 Salomone cominciò a edificare la casa del Signore in Gerusa­lemme sul monte Moria, che era stato indicato a David suo padre nel luogo da David preparato nell'aia di Ornan Gebuseo.	1 Solomon then began building the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah where David hisfather had had a vision -- on the site which David had prepared -- on the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
2 Ne cominciò la costruzione nel secondo mese, l'anno quarto del suo regno.	2 He began building it on the second day of the second month of the fourth year of his reign.
3 Ecco i fondamenti che Salomone gettò per edificare la casa di Dio: lunghezza in cubiti di misura antica, sessanta; larghezza venti cubiti.	3 These are the dimensions which Solomon fixed for the structure of the house of God: its length incubits, according to the old standard, was sixty cubits and its width twenty cubits;
4 Il portico davanti alla facciata, lungo quanto era larga la casa, aveva venti cubiti, ed era alto centoventi cubiti. Salomone lo fece indorare al di dentro con oro finissimo;	4 and the portico in front of the house was the ful width of the house, that is, twenty cubits, and its heightwas a hundred and twenty cubits; on the inside he overlaid it with pure gold.
5 e rivestì la casa maggiore di tavole d'abete, e vi affisse sopra, da tutte le parti, lamine d'oro finissimo, e vi scolpi delle palme e delle catenelle intrecciate le une alle altre.	5 The Great Hall he lined with juniper, which he overlaid with fine gold and ornamented with palm treesand festoons,
6 Lastricò il pavimento del tempio di marmo preziosissimo con molte decorazioni.	6 and he decorated the hall beautifully with precious stones and with gold from Parvaim,
7 L'oro delle lamine con cui rivestì la casa, le sue travi, gli stipiti, le pareti e le porte era finissimo. Sulle pareti fece intagliare dei Cherubini.	7 overlaying the hal , its beams and its thresholds, its walls and its doors, with gold and engraving thewal s with great winged creatures.
8 Fece anche la casa del Santo dei Santi, che era lunga venti cubiti, quanto la larghezza della casa, e larga pure venti cubiti. La rivesti di lamine d'oro del peso di circa seicento talenti.	8 He also made the Holy of Holies, the length of which corresponded to the width of the Great Hal , beingtwenty cubits, with a width of twenty cubits, and this he overlaid with fine gold weighing six hundred talents,
9 Fece pure dei chiodi d'oro, tali che ciascuno pesava cinquanta sicli. Rivestì d'oro anche le camere alte.	9 while the weight of the gold nails was fifty shekels. He also overlaid the upper rooms with gold.
10 Nella casa del Santo dei Santi fece due cherubini scolpiti, e li rivestì d'oro.	10 In the Holy of Holies he model ed two winged creatures of wrought metal work and overlaid them withgold.
11 Le ali dei cherubini si stendevano per venti cubiti; e in modo che un'ala, di cinque cubiti, toccava la muraglia della casa, l'altra ala, pure di cinque cubiti, toccava l'ala dell'altro cherubino;	11 The total span of their wings was twenty cubits; one wing, being five cubits long, touched the wal ofthe house and the other wing, being five cubits long, touched the wing of the other winged creature;
12 così pure un'ala dell'altro cherubino, di cinque cubiti, toc­cava la muraglia, e l'altra ala, di cinque cubiti, toccava l'ala dell'altro cherubino.	12 while one wing of the other, five cubits long, touched the other wall of the house and the other wing,five cubits long, touched the wing of the other winged creature.
13 Così le ali dei due cherubini, spiegate, si stendevano per venti cubiti: essi poi stavano ritti sui loro piedi colle faccie volte verso la casa esteriore.	13 The spread of these creatures' wings was twenty cubits. They stood in an upright position, with theirfaces towards the Hall.
14 Fece anche il velo di giacinto, di porpora, di scarlatto e di bisso, e vi fece ricamare dei cherubini.	14 He also made the Curtain of violet, scarlet, crimson and fine linen, working a design of wingedcreatures on it.
15 Di più, dinanzi alla porta del tempio, fece due colonne di trentacinque cubiti d'altezza, con capitelli di cinque cubiti.	15 In front of the Hal he made two pil ars thirty-five cubits high, and on the top of each a capitalmeasuring five cubits.
16 Fece pure delle catenelle, come nell'oracolo e le sovrappose ai capitelli delle colonne, e anche cento melagrane, che intrecciò nelle catenelle.	16 He made festoons, in the Debir, to go at the tops of the pil ars, and made a hundred pomegranates togo on the festoons.
17 Queste colonne le collocò nel vestibolo del tempio, una a destra e l'altra a sinistra: quella a destra la chiamò Iachin; quella a sinistra Booz.	17 He erected the pil ars in front of the Temple, one on the right, the other on the left; the one on the righthe cal ed Jachin and the one on the left, Boaz.
