1 Ioatam aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò sedici anni in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Ierusa, figlia di Sadoc.	1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Jerusa, daughter of Zadok.
2 Egli fece quello che era giusto dinanzi al Signore, secondo tutto quello che aveva fatto Ozia suo padre, eccetto che egli non entrò nel tempio del Signore, ma il popolo seguitava a peccare.	2 He pleased the LORD just as his father Uzziah had done, though he did not enter the temple of the LORD; the people, however, continued to act sinfully.
3 Egli fece fare la porta alta della casa del Signore, e molte altre costruzioni sulle mura dell'Ofel.	3 He built the upper gate of the LORD'S house and had much construction done on the wall of Ophel.
4 Edificò inoltre delle città sui monti di Giuda, e dei castelli e delle torri nei boschi.	4 Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forest land he set up fortresses and towers.
5 Egli com­battè contro il re dei figli d'Ammon e li vinse. I figli d'Ammon gli diedero in quel tempo cento talenti d'argento, dieci mila cori di grano e altrettanti d'orzo. Queste cose i figli d'Ammon le diedero il secondo e il terzo anno.	5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him one hundred talents of silver, together with ten thousand kors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. They brought the same to him also in the second and in the third year.
6 Così Ioatam divenne potente, perchè aveva indirizzate le sue vie nel cospetto del Signore Dio suo.	6 Thus Jotham continued to grow strong because he lived resolutely in the presence of the LORD, his God.
7 Il resto delle azioni di Ioatam, tutte le sue battaglie e le sue imprese sono scritte nel libro dei re d'Israele e di Giuda.	7 The rest of the acts of Jotham, his wars and his activities, can be found written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

9 Poi Ioatam si addormentò coi suoi padri, fu sepolto nella città di David, e gli successe nel regno Acaz suo figlio.	9 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, and his son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
