1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Announce his works among the nations.	1 Mon âme, bénis le Seigneur! Seigneur, mon Dieu, tu es si grand, paré de gloire et de majesté!
2 Sing to him, and sing psalms to him. Describe all his wonders.	2 Tu t’es fait de la lumière un manteau, les cieux sont les tentures de ta demeure,
3 Be praised in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.	3 au-dessus de leurs eaux s’élèvent tes chambres hautes. Tu fais des nuées ton char lorsque tu t’avances sur les ailes du vent.
4 Seek the Lord, and be confirmed. Seek his face always.	4 Tu prends les vents pour messagers, les éclairs de feu sont tes serviteurs.
5 Remember his miracles, which he has done, his portents and the judgments of his mouth:	5 Tu as posé la terre sur ses bases, rien ne viendra l’ébranler jamais.
6 you offspring of Abraham his servant, you sons of Jacob his elect.	6 Tu l’as couverte du manteau des océans, avec des eaux en réserve au haut des monts;
7 He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout the entire earth.	7 à ta menace elles fuient: ton tonnerre se fait entendre, elles se précipitent.
8 He has remembered his covenant for all ages: the word that he entrusted to a thousand generations,	8 Elles gravissent les monts, descendent les vallées, courant au lieu que tu leur as indiqué.
9 which he assigned to Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.	9 Tu as fixé les bornes qu’elles ne passeront pas: elles ne reviendront plus pour submerger la terre.
10 And he stationed the same for Jacob with a precept, and for Israel with an eternal testament,	10 Tu conduis vers les ravins les eaux des sources, elles cheminent entre les montagnes
11 saying: To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance.	11 pour abreuver tout ce qui vit sur terre: les ânes sauvages y étanchent leur soif.
12 Though they may have been but a small number, very few and foreigners there,	12 Les oiseaux du ciel s’arrêtent aux abords et dans la ramure lancent leurs appels.
13 and though they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,	13 Du haut de tes demeures tu abreuves les monts, la terre se rassasie de tes œuvres.
14 he allowed no man to harm them, and he reproved kings on their behalf.	14 Tu fais pousser l’herbe pour le bétail, et les plantes où l’homme aura son travail. Il fera sortir de la terre le pain,
15 Do not be willing to touch my Christ, and do not be willing to malign my prophets.	15 le vin aussi, qui réjouit le cœur de l’homme. L’huile fera briller son visage, le pain lui donnera du cœur.
16 And he called a famine upon the land, and he crushed every foundation of the bread.	16 Les arbres du Seigneur sont rassasiés, les cèdres du Liban qu’il a plantés lui-même.
17 He sent a man before them: Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.	17 Les passereaux y font leur nid et tout en haut la cigogne a sa maison.
18 They humbled his feet in shackles; the iron pierced his soul,	18 La haute montagne appartient aux chamois, le creux des roches est le refuge des damans.
19 until his word arrived. The eloquence of the Lord inflamed him.	19 Tu as placé la lune pour le calendrier, le soleil, qui sait au moins l’heure de son coucher.
20 The king sent and released him; he was the ruler of the people, and he dismissed him.	20 Tu amènes les ténèbres et c’est la nuit: les bêtes de la forêt vont commencer leurs rondes.
21 He established him as master of his house and ruler of all his possessions,	21 Les jeunes lions rugissent après la proie, dans leur langage ils réclament à Dieu leur manger.
22 so that he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his elders prudence.	22 Quand le soleil se lève, ils se retirent et vont au repos dans leurs demeures,
23 And Israel entered into Egypt, and Jacob became a sojourner in the land of Ham.	23 alors que l’homme sort pour sa tâche, pour son travail jusqu’au soir.
24 And he helped his people greatly, and he strengthened them over their enemies.	24 Que tes œuvres sont nombreuses, Seigneur, tu les fis toutes avec sagesse, remplissant le monde de tes inventions!
25 He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.	25 Voici la mer, grande, ouverte en tous sens, où fourmillent innombrables les êtres vivants petits et grands.
26 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the one whom he chose.	26 Les bateaux s’y risquent sans craindre Léviathan, le monstre que tu fis pour t’en amuser.
27 He placed with them signs of his word, and portents in the land of Ham.	27 Tous attendent de toi que tu leur donnes la provende en son temps.
28 He sent darkness and made it conceal, and he did not afflict them with his speech.	28 Tu la leur donnes, ils la recueillent, tu ouvres ta main, et les voilà rassasiés.
29 He turned their waters into blood, and he slaughtered their fish.	29 Tu caches ta face, ils ne sont plus; tu leur reprends le souffle, ils expirent et retournent à leur poussière.
30 Their land brought forth frogs, even in the inner chambers of their kings.	30 Mais tu envoies ton souffle, ils sont créés, tu renouvelles la face de la terre.
31 He spoke, and there came forth common flies and gnats, in every region.	31 Que le Seigneur ait à jamais sa gloire, que le Seigneur jouisse de ses œuvres,
32 He gave them a shower of hail and a burning fire, in the same land.	32 lui qui regarde la terre, et elle tremble, et s’il touche aux montagnes, elles jettent le feu.
33 And he struck their vineyards and their fig trees, and he crushed the trees of their region.	33 Je veux toute ma vie chanter le Seigneur, le célébrer aussi longtemps que je serai.
34 He spoke, and the locust came forth, and the caterpillar, of which there was no number.	34 Mon poème peut-être plaira à mon Seigneur: moi, de toute façon, je suis content de lui.
35 And it devoured all the grass in their land, and it consumed all the fruit of their land.	35 Que les pécheurs disparaissent de la terre, qu’on n’y voie plus de méchanceté! Mais toi, ô mon âme, bénis le Seigneur!
36 And he struck all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their labor.
37 And he led them out with silver and gold, and there was not an infirm one among their tribes.
38 Egypt was joyful at their departure, for the fear of them lay heavy upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for their protection, and a fire, to give them light through the night.
40 They petitioned, and the quail came; and he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He ruptured the rock and the waters flowed: rivers gushed in the dry land.
42 For he had called to mind his holy word, which he kept near to his servant Abraham.
43 And he led forth his people in exultation, and his elect in rejoicing.
44 And he gave them the regions of the Gentiles, and they possessed the labors of the peoples,
45 so that they might observe his justifications, and inquire about his law.
