1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.	1 Queste son le tappe dei figli d'Israele che, divisi nelle loro schiere, uscirono dall'Egitto, sotto la guida di Mosè e di Aronne.
2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:	2 Mosè le notò secondo i luoghi degli accampamenti che essi cambiavano per comando di Dio.
3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.	3 Nel primo mese, ai quindici del primo mese, il giorno dopo pasqua, i figli d'Israele partirono da Ramesse, a mano alzata, alla vista di tutti gli Egiziani,
4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.	4 che seppellivano i loro primogeniti, percossi dal Signore, il quale fe' piombare le sue vendette anche sopra i loro dèi.
5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth.	5 S'accamparono in Soccot;
6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.	6 da Soccot andarono a Etam, che è sul limitar del deserto.
7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.	7 Partiti da Etam, giunsero davanti a Fihahirot che guarda Beelsefon, e si accamparono dinanzi a Magdalo.
8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.	8 Partiti da Fihahirot, passarono per mezzo il mare, nel deserto, e dopo aver camminato tre giorni pel deserto di Eltam, posero il campo a Mara.

50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:	50 Ivi il Signore disse a Mosè:
51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,	51 « Da' quest'ordine ai figli d'Israele e di' loro: Quando avrete passato il Giordano e sarete entrati nella terra, di Canaan,
52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.	52 sterminate tutti gli abitanti di quel paese, fate in pezzi i monumenti, riducete in polvere le statue, demolite tutti gli alti luoghi:
53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.	53 purificate la terra e poi abitatela, perche ve l'ho data io in possesso.
54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.	54 Ve la dividerete a sorte, dando una porzione maggiore a quelli che son più numerosi, una minore a quelli meno numerosi. Ognuno possederà ciò che gli sarà toccato in sorte. La divisione sarà fatta per tribù e per famiglie.
55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,	55 Ma se non ucciderete gli abitanti del paese, quelli che di loro resteranno diverran per voi come chiodi negli occhi e lance ai fianchi, e vi saran nemici nel paese che abiterete;
56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '	56 io poi farò a voi tutto ciò che avevo pensato di fare a loro »
