1 The following are the stages by which the Israelites journeyed up by companies from the land of Egypt under the guidance of Moses and Aaron.	1 Queste sono le tappe degli Israeliti che uscirono dalla terra d'Egitto, ordinati secondo le loro schiere, sotto la guida di Mosè e di Aronne.
2 By the LORD'S command Moses recorded the starting places of the various stages. The starting places of the successive stages were:	2 Mosè scrisse i loro punti di partenza, tappa per tappa, per ordine del Signore; queste sono le loro tappe nell'ordine dei loro punti di partenza.
3 They set out from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the Passover morrow the Israelites went forth in triumph, in view of all Egypt,	3 Partirono da Ramses il primo mese, il quindicesimo giorno del primo mese. Il giorno dopo la Pasqua, gli Israeliti uscirono a mano alzata, sotto gli occhi di tutto l'Egitto,
4 While the Egyptians buried their first-born all of whom the LORD had struck down; on their gods, too, the LORD executed judgments.	4 mentre gli Egiziani seppellivano quelli che il Signore aveva colpito fra loro, cioè tutti i primogeniti, quando il Signore aveva pronunciato il suo giudizio anche sui loro dèi.
5 Setting out from Rameses, the Israelites camped at Succoth.	5 Gli Israeliti partirono dunque da Ramses e si accamparono a Succot.
6 Setting out from Succoth, they camped at Etham near the edge of the desert.	6 Partirono da Succot e si accamparono a Etam, che è sull'estremità del deserto.
7 Setting out from Etham, they turned back to Pi-hahiroth, which is opposite Baal-zephon, and they camped opposite Migdol.	7 Partirono da Etam e piegarono verso Pi-Achiròt, che è di fronte a Baal-Sefòn, e si accamparono davanti a Migdol.
8 Setting out from Pi-hahiroth, they crossed over through the sea into the desert, and after a three days' journey in the desert of Etham, they camped at Marah.	8 Partirono da Pi-Achiròt, passarono in mezzo al mare in direzione del deserto, fecero tre giornate di marcia nel deserto di Etam e si accamparono a Mara.

38 (Aaron the priest ascended Mount Hor at the LORD'S command, and there he died in the fortieth year from the departure of the Israelites from the land of Egypt, on the first day of the fifth month.	38 Il sacerdote Aronne salì sul monte Or per ordine del Signore e in quel luogo morì il quarantesimo anno dopo l’uscita degli Israeliti dalla terra d'Egitto, il quinto mese, il primo giorno del mese.
39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.	39 Aronne era in età di centoventitré anni quando morì sul monte Or.
40 Now, when the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negeb in the land of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming. . . . )	40 Il cananeo re di Arad, che abitava nel Negheb, nella terra di Canaan, venne a sapere che gli Israeliti arrivavano.

49 Their camp along the Jordan on the plains of Moab extended from Beth-jeshimoth to Abelshittim.	49 Si accamparono presso il Giordano, da Bet-Iesimòt fino ad Abel-Sittìm, nelle steppe di Moab.
50 The LORD spoke to Moses on the plains of Moab beside the Jericho stretch of the Jordan and said to him:	50 Il Signore parlò a Mosè nelle steppe di Moab, presso il Giordano di Gerico, e disse:
51 "Tell the Israelites: When you go across the Jordan into the land of Canaan,	51 «Parla agli Israeliti dicendo loro: “Quando avrete attraversato il Giordano verso la terra di Canaan
52 drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you; destroy all their stone figures and molten images, and demolish all their high places.	52 e avrete cacciato dinanzi a voi tutti gli abitanti della terra, distruggerete tutte le loro immagini, distruggerete tutte le loro statue di metallo fuso e devasterete tutte le loro alture.
53 "You shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land as your property.	53 Prenderete possesso della terra e in essa vi stabilirete, poiché io vi ho dato la terra perché la possediate.
54 You shall apportion the land among yourselves by lot, clan by clan, assigning a large heritage to a large group and a small heritage to a small group. Wherever anyone's lot falls, there shall his property be within the heritage of his ancestral tribe.	54 Dividerete la terra a sorte secondo le vostre famiglie. A chi è numeroso darai numerosa eredità e a chi è piccolo darai piccola eredità. Ognuno avrà quello che gli sarà toccato in sorte; farete la divisione secondo le tribù dei vostri padri.
55 "But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those whom you allow to remain will become as barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they will harass you in the country where you live,	55 Ma se non caccerete dinanzi a voi gli abitanti della terra, quelli di loro che vi avrete lasciati saranno per voi come spine negli occhi e pungoli nei fianchi e vi tratteranno da nemici nella terra in cui abiterete.
56 and I will treat you as I had intended to treat them."	56 Allora io tratterò voi come mi ero proposto di trattare loro”».
