Eliu also proceeded, and said :1 Continuing in a similar manner, Eliu had this to say:
Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee : for I have yet somewhat to speak in God's behalf.2 Bear with me for a little while and I will show you; for I have still more to say in favor of God.
I will repeat my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker just.3 I will review my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker to be just.
For indeed my words are without a lie, and perfect knowledge shall be proved to thee.4 For truly my words are without any falsehood and perfect knowledge will be proven to you.
God doth not cast away the mighty, whereas he himself also is mighty.5 God does not abandon the powerful, for he himself is also powerful.
But he saveth not the wicked, and he giveth judgment to the poor.6 But he does not save the impious, though he grants judgment to the poor.
He will not take away his eyes from the just, and he placeth kings on the throne for ever, and they are exalted.7 He will not take his eyes away from the just, and he continually establishes kings on their throne, and they are exalted.
And if they shall be in chains, and be bound with the cords of poverty :8 And, if they are in captivity, or are bound with the chains of poverty,
He shall shew them their works, and their wicked deeds, because they have been violent.9 he will reveal to them their works, as well as their sinfulness, in that they were violent.
He also shall open their ear, to correct them : and shall speak, that they may return from iniquity.10 Likewise, he will open their ears to his correction, and he will speak to them, so that they may return from iniquity.
If they shall hear and observe, they shall accomplish their days in good, and their years in glory.11 If they listen and obey, they will fill their days with goodness and complete their years in glory.
But if they hear not, they shall pass by the sword, and shall be consumed in folly.12 But if they will not listen, they will pass away by the sword and will be consumed by foolishness.
Dissemblers and crafty men prove the wrath of God, neither shall they cry when they are bound.13 The false and the crafty provoke the wrath of God, yet they do not cry out to him when they are chained.
Their soul shall die in a storm, and their life among the effeminate.14 Their soul will die in a storm, and their life, among the unmanly.
He shall deliver the poor out of his distress, and shall open his ear in affliction.15 He will rescue the poor from his anguish, and he will open his ear during tribulation.
Therefore he shall set thee at large out of the narrow mouth, and which hath no foundation under it : and the rest of thy table shall be full of fatness.16 Therefore, he will save you from the narrow mouth very widely, even though it has no foundation under it. Moreover, your respite at table will be full of fatness.
Thy cause hath been judged as that of the wicked, cause and judgment thou shalt recover.17 Your case has been judged like that of the impious; you will withdraw your plea and your judgment.
Therefore let not anger overcome thee to oppress any man : neither let multitude of gifts turn thee aside.18 Therefore, do not let anger overwhelm you so that you oppress another; neither should you allow a multitude of gifts to influence you.
Lay down thy greatness without tribulation, and all the mighty of strength.19 Lay down your greatness without distress, and put aside all of your power with courage.
Prolong not the night that people may come up for them.20 Do not prolong the night, even if people rise on their behalf.
Beware thou turn not aside to iniquity : for this thou hast begun to follow after misery.21 Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity; for, after your misery, you have begun to follow this.
Behold, God is high in his strength, and none is like him among the lawgivers.22 Behold, God is exalted in his strength, and there is no one like him among the law-givers.
Who can search out his ways? or who can say to him : Thou has wrought iniquity?23 Who is able to investigate his ways? And who can say, “You have done iniquity,” to him?
Remember that thou knowest not his work, concerning which men have sung.24 Remember that you are ignorant of his work, yet men have sung its praises.
All men see him, every one beholdeth afar off.25 All men consider him; and each one ponders from a distance.
Behold, God is great, exceeding our knowledge : the number of his years is inestimable.26 Behold, God is great, defeating our knowledge; the number of his years is inestimable.
He lifteth up the drops of rain, and poureth out showers like floods :27 He carries away the drops of rain, and he sends forth showers like a raging whirlpool;
Which flow from the clouds that cover all above.28 they flow from the clouds that are woven above everything.
If he will spread out clouds as his tent,29 If he wills it, he extends the clouds as his tent
And lighten with his light from above, he shall cover also the ends of the sea.30 and shines with his light from above; likewise, he covers the oceans within his tent.
For by these he judgeth people, and giveth food to many mortals.31 For he judges the people by these things, and he gives food to a multitude of mortals.
In his hands he hideth the light, and commandeth it to come again.32 Within his hands, he hides the light, and he commands it to come forth again.
He sheweth his friend concerning it, that it is his possession, and that he may come up to it.33 He announces it to his friend, for it is his possession and he is able to reach out to it.
