LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Al maestro di coro. Sulle corde. Maskil. Di Davide.	1 [For the choirmaster For strings Poem Of David] God, hear my prayer, do not hide away from my plea,
2 Ascolta, o Dio, la mia preghiera e non ti nascondere dalla mia implorazione;	2 give me a hearing, answer me, my troubles give me no peace. I shudder
3 prestami attenzione ed esaudiscimi: sono in ansia nella mia tristezza e sono turbato	3 at the enemy's shouts, at the outcry of the wicked; they heap up charges against me, in their angerbring hostile accusations against me.
4 alle grida del nemico, al clamore del malvagio; poiché essi fanno cadere su di me sventure e con rabbia mi avversano.	4 My heart writhes within me, the terrors of death come upon me,
5 Il mio cuore trema nel mio petto, e terrori di morte si sono abbattuti su di me.	5 fear and trembling overwhelm me, and shuddering grips me.
6 Timore e tremore vengono dentro di me e l'orrore mi sommerge.	6 And I say, 'Who will give me wings like a dove, to fly away and find rest?'
7 Per questo dico: "Oh, se avessi le ali! Come aquila volerei in cerca di riposo.	7 How far I would escape, and make a nest in the desert!Pause
8 Ecco: lontano fuggirei per starmene nel deserto.	8 I would soon find a refuge from the storm of abuse, from the

10 Disperdili, o Signore, confondi le loro lingue, poiché violenza vedo e rissa nella città;	10 day and night they make their rounds along the city wal s, Inside live malice and mischief,
11 giorno e notte la circondano al di sopra delle sue mura, in essa regnano malvagità e nequizia.	11 inside lives destruction, tyranny and treachery never absent from its central square.
12 Insidie regnano nel suo interno e non si allontanano dalla sua piazza oppressione e frode.	12 Were it an enemy who insulted me, that I could bear; if an opponent pitted himself against me, I couldturn away from him.
13 Certo, non è un nemico che m'insulta: lo potrei sopportare. Non è chi mi odia che su di me s'inorgoglisce: mi potrei nascondere da lui.	13 But you, a person of my own rank, a comrade and dear friend,
14 Ma tu, uomo a me pari, a me amico e familiare...	14 to whom I was bound by intimate friendship in the house of God! May they recoil in disorder,
15 Un dolce colloquio era fra noi, in letizia camminavamo nella casa di Dio.	15 may death descend on them, may they go down alive to Sheol, since evil shares their home withthem.
16 S'abbatta la morte su di loro, scendano vivi negli inferi, poiché v'è nequizia dentro le loro dimore.	16 For my part, I appeal to God, and Yahweh saves me;
17 Io invoco il Signore ed egli mi salverà.	17 evening, morning, noon, I complain and I groan. He hears my cry,
18 Sera e mattino e mezzodì voglio gemere e sospirare, affinché oda la mia voce;	18 he ransoms me and gives me peace from the feud against me, for they are taking me to law.
19 riscatterà in pace l'anima mia da coloro che mi assalgono, poiché in molti si sono levati contro di me.	19 But God wil listen and wil humble them, he who has been enthroned from the beginning; no changeof heart for them, for they do not fear God.
20 Ascolterà Dio e li umilierà egli che troneggia dall'eternità; poiché non ci sono per loro mutamenti: non temono Dio.	20 They attack those at peace with them, going back on their oaths;
21 Alzò le sue mani contro i suoi alleati, infranse il suo patto.	21 though their mouth is smoother than butter, enmity is in their hearts; their words more soothing thanoil, yet sharpened like swords.
22 Morbida più che burro è la sua bocca, guerra è invece nel suo cuore; molli sono le sue parole più che olio, esse invece sono spade affilate.	22 Unload your burden onto Yahweh and he wil sustain you; never wil he allow the upright to stumble.
23 Getta sul Signore il tuo affanno, ed egli ti sosterrà: non lascerà che in eterno vacilli il giusto.	23 You, God, wil thrust them down to the abyss of destruction, men bloodthirsty and deceptive, beforehalf their days are spent. For my part, I put my trust in you.
24 E tu, o Dio, li farai discendere nel profondo della fossa, gli uomini di sangue e di frode non raggiungeranno la metà dei loro giorni. Io invece mi voglio rifugiare in te.
