BIBBIA VOLGARE	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figliuolo, quando vai a servire a Dio, sta nella giustizia e nel timore (suo), e apparecchia l' anima tua alle tentazioni.	1 Son, when you apply yourself to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare your soul for temptation.
2 Costrigni il cuore tuo, e sostieni; e inchina l'orecchie tue, e ricogli le parole e lo intendimento; e non ti affrettare nel tempo della contrarietade.	2 Humble your heart, and persevere. Incline your ear, and accept words of understanding. And you should not hurry away in the time of distress.
3 Sostieni le fatiche mandate da Dio; congiugniti a Dio e sostieni, a ciò che la vita tua finalmente cresca.	3 Endure steadfastly for God. Join yourself to God, and persevere, so that your life may increase in the very end.
4 Togli ciò che t'è dato; e sii paziente nel dolore, e abbi pazienza nelle tribulazionì e cadimento tuo.	4 Accept everything that will happened to you, and persevere in your sorrow, and have patience in your humiliation.
5 Però che nello fuoco s' affina l'oro e l'ariento; e li uomini che sono da ricevere si provano nella fornace della umiliazione.	5 For gold and silver are tested in fire, yet truly, acceptable men are tested in the furnace of humiliation.
6 Credi a Dio, ed egli ti riceverae e dirizzerae la via tua; e spera in lui, e guarda il timore di lui, e in esso invecchia.	6 Believe God, and he will restore you to health. And straighten your way, and hope in him. Observe his fear, and grow old in it.
7 Voi che temete Iddio, sostenete l'afflizione sua; e non vi piegate da lui, sì che voi non caggiate.	7 You who fear the Lord, wait for his mercy. And do not turn away from him, lest you fall.
8 Voi che temete Iddio, credete a lui; e non perderete la mercede vostra.	8 You who fear the Lord, believe in him. And your reward will not be taken away.
9 Voi che temete Iddio, sperate in lui; e fiavi diletto l'afflizione.	9 You who fear the Lord, hope in him. And mercy will approach you, to your delight.
10 Voi che temete Iddio, amate lui; e alluminerannosi i cuori vostri.	10 You who fear the Lord, love him. And your hearts will be illuminated.
11 O figliuoli, guardate le nazioni degli uomini; e saperete (per) che niuno sperò in Dio, il quale poi fusse confuso.	11 My sons, consider the nations of men, and know that not one of them hoped in the Lord and was confounded.
12 È niuno, che perseverò nelli comandamenti suoi, lo quale poi sia abbandonato? or chi invocò lui, il quale egli dispregiasse?	12 For who has remained in his commandment and been abandoned? Or who has called upon him, and yet he despised him?
13 Iddio sì è pietoso e misericordioso, il quale perdona a' peccatori nel tempo della tribulazione; e sì è protettore di tutti coloro i quali nella verità cercano lui.	13 For God is upright and merciful, and he will forgive sins in the day of tribulation. And he is the Protector to all those who seek him in truth.
14 Guai a coloro che sono di cuore doppio; e guai alle lingue scellerate, guai alle mani malfattrici, e guai al peccatore che entra nella terra per due vie!	14 Woe to the duplicitous heart, and to the wicked lips, and to the hands that do evil, and to the sinner who walks the earth by two ways!
15 Guai a coloro che sono dissoluti di cuore, e che non credono a Dio; però non fieno difesi da lui.	15 Woe to the dissolute in heart, who do not trust God! For, as a result, they will not be protected by him.
16 Guai a coloro che perderono la pazienza, e che lasciarono le vie diritte ed entrarono nelle vie malvagie!	16 Woe to those who have lost endurance, and who have abandoned upright ways, and who have turned aside to depraved ways!
17 Che faranno egli, quando Iddio gli comincerà a guatare?	17 And what will they do when the Lord begins to examine them?
18 Coloro che temono Iddio, non saranno incredibili della parola di colui; e coloro che l' amano, conserveranno la sua via.	18 Those who fear the Lord will not be unbelieving toward his Word. And those who love him will keep to his way.
19 Coloro che temono Iddio, cercheranno per quelle cose che bene piacciono a lui; e coloro che amano lui, si riempieranno della legge sua.	19 Those who fear the Lord will seek the things that are well-pleasing to him. And those who love him will be filled with his law.
20 Coloro che temono Iddio, apparecchieranno i cuori loro, e nel suo conspetto santificheranno l'anime loro.	20 Those who fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and they will sanctify their souls in his sight.
21 Coloro che temono Iddio, guardano li comandamenti suoi, e averanno pazienza infino allo agguardamento,	21 Those who fear the Lord keep his commandments, and they will have patience even until his examination,
22 dicendo: se noi non faremo penitenza, cadremo nelle mani di Dio, e non nelle mani delli uomini.	22 saying: “If we do not do penance, then we will fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men.”
23 Secondo che è la grandezza di colui, così è la misericordia sua.	23 For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him.
