JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Six jours avant la Pâque, Jésus vint à Béthanie, où était Lazare, que Jésus avait ressuscité d'entre lesmorts.	1 Jesus therefore, six days before the pasch, came to Bethania, where Lazarus had been dead, whom Jesus raised to life.
2 On lui fit là un repas. Marthe servait. Lazare était l'un des convives.	2 And they made him a supper there: and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that were at table with him.
3 Alors Marie, prenant une livre d'un parfum de nard pur, de grand prix, oignit les pieds de Jésus et lesessuya avec ses cheveux; et la maison s'emplit de la senteur du parfum.	3 Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
4 Mais Judas l'Iscariote, l'un de ses disciples, celui qui allait le livrer, dit:	4 Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, he that was about to betray him, said:
5 "Pourquoi ce parfum n'a-t-il pas été vendu 300 deniers qu'on aurait donnés à des pauvres?"	5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
6 Mais il dit cela non par souci des pauvres, mais parce qu'il était voleur et que, tenant la bourse, ildérobait ce qu'on y mettait.	6 Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the purse, carried the things that were put therein.
7 Jésus dit alors: "Laisse-la: c'est pour le jour de ma sépulture qu'elle devait garder ce parfum.	7 Jesus therefore said: Let her alone, that she may keep it against the day of my burial.
8 Les pauvres, en effet, vous les aurez toujours avec vous; mais moi, vous ne m'aurez pas toujours."	8 For the poor you have always with you; but me you have not always.
9 La grande foule des Juifs apprit qu'il était là et ils vinrent, pas seulement pour Jésus, mais aussi pourvoir Lazare, qu'il avait ressuscité d'entre les morts.	9 A great multitude therefore of the Jews knew that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 Les grands prêtres décidèrent de tuer aussi Lazare,	10 But the chief priests thought to kill Lazarus also:
11 parce que beaucoup de Juifs, à cause de lui, s'en allaient et croyaient en Jésus.	11 Because many of the Jews, by reason of him, went away, and believed in Jesus.
12 Le lendemain, la foule nombreuse venue pour la fête apprit que Jésus venait à Jérusalem;	12 And on the next day, a great multitude that was to come to the festival day, when they had heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 ils prirent les rameaux des palmiers et sortirent à sa rencontre et ils criaient: "Hosanna! Béni soitcelui qui vient au nom du Seigneur et le roi d'Israël!"	13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried: Hosanna, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel.
14 Jésus, trouvant un petit âne, s'assit dessus selon qu'il est écrit:	14 And Jesus found a young ass, and sat upon it, as it is written:
15 Sois sans crainte, fille de Sion: voici que ton roi vient, monté sur un petit d'ânesse.	15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy king cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
16 Cela, ses disciples ne le comprirent pas tout d'abord; mais quand Jésus eut été glorifié, alors ils sesouvinrent que cela était écrit de lui et que c'était ce qu'on lui avait fait.	16 These things his disciples did not know at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things to him.
17 La foule qui était avec lui, quand il avait appelé Lazare hors du tombeau et l'avait ressuscité d'entreles morts, rendait témoignage.	17 The multitude therefore gave testimony, which was with him, when he called Lazarus out of the grave, and raised him from the dead.
18 C'est aussi pourquoi la foule vint à sa rencontre: parce qu'ils avaient entendu dire qu'il avait fait cesigne.	18 For which reason also the people came to meet him, because they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 Alors les Pharisiens se dirent entre eux: "Vous voyez que vous ne gagnez rien; voilà le monde partiaprès lui!"	19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves: Do you see that we prevail nothing? behold, the whole world is gone after him.
20 Il y avait là quelques Grecs, de ceux qui montaient pour adorer pendant la fête.	20 Now there were certain Gentiles among them, who came up to adore on the festival day.
21 Ils s'avancèrent vers Philippe, qui était de Bethsaïde en Galilée, et ils lui firent cette demande:"Seigneur, nous voulons voir Jésus."	21 These therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying: Sir, we would see Jesus.
22 Philippe vient le dire à André; André et Philippe viennent le dire à Jésus.	22 Philip cometh, and telleth Andrew. Again Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
23 Jésus leur répond: "Voici venue l'heure où doit être glorifié le Fils de l'homme.	23 But Jesus answered them, saying: The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si le grain de blé tombé en terre ne meurt pas, il demeure seul;mais s'il meurt, il porte beaucoup de fruit.	24 Amen, amen I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,
25 Qui aime sa vie la perd; et qui hait sa vie en ce monde la conservera en vie éternelle.	25 Itself remaineth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, keepeth it unto life eternal.
26 Si quelqu'un me sert, qu'il me suive, et où je suis, là aussi sera mon serviteur. Si quelqu'un me sert,mon Père l'honorera.	26 If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.
27 Maintenant mon âme est troublée. Et que dire? Père, sauve-moi de cette heure! Mais c'est pour celaque je suis venu à cette heure.	27 Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause I came unto this hour.
28 Père, glorifie ton nom!" Du ciel vint alors une voix: "Je l'ai glorifié et de nouveau je le glorifierai."	28 Father, glorify thy name. A voice therefore came from heaven: I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 La foule qui se tenait là et qui avait entendu, disait qu'il y avait eu un coup de tonnerre; d'autresdisaient: "Un ange lui a parlé."	29 The multitude therefore that stood and heard, said that it thundered. Others said: An angel spoke to him.
30 Jésus reprit: "Ce n'est pas pour moi qu'il y a eu cette voix, mais pour vous.	30 Jesus answered, and said: This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
31 C'est maintenant le jugement de ce monde; maintenant le Prince de ce monde va être jeté dehors;	31 Now is the judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 et moi, une fois élevé de terre, j'attirerai tous les hommes à moi."	32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself.
33 Il signifiait par là de quelle mort il allait mourir.	33 (Now this he said, signifying what death he should die.)
34 La foule alors lui répondit: "Nous avons appris de la Loi que le Christ demeure à jamais. Commentpeux-tu dire: Il faut que soit élevé le Fils de l'homme? Qui est ce Fils de l'homme?"	34 The multitude answered him: We have heard out of the law, that Christ abideth for ever; and how sayest thou: The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?
35 Jésus leur dit: "Pour peu de temps encore la lumière est parmi vous. Marchez tant que vous avez lalumière, de peur que les ténèbres ne vous saisissent: celui qui marche dans les ténèbres ne sait pas où il va.	35 Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while, the light is among you. Walk whilst you have the light, that the darkness overtake you not. And he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 Tant que vous avez la lumière, croyez en la lumière, afin de devenir des fils de lumière." Ainsi parlaJésus, et s'en allant il se déroba à leur vue.	36 Whilst you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light. These things Jesus spoke; and he went away, and hid himself from them.
37 Bien qu'il eût fait tant de signes devant eux, ils ne croyaient pas en lui,	37 And whereas he had done so many miracles before them, they believed not in him:
38 afin que s'accomplît la parole dite par Isaïe le prophète: Seigneur, qui a cru à notre parole? Et le brasdu Seigneur, à qui a-t-il été révélé?	38 That the saying of Isaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: Lord, who hath believed our hearing? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Aussi bien ne pouvaient-ils croire, car Isaïe a dit encore:	39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaias said again:
40 Il a aveuglé leurs yeux et il a endurci leur coeur, pour que leurs yeux ne voient pas, que leur coeur necomprenne pas, qu'ils ne se convertissent pas et que je ne les guérisse pas.	40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 Isaïe a dit cela, parce qu'il eut la vision de sa gloire et qu'il parla de lui.	41 These things said Isaias, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
42 Toutefois, il est vrai, même parmi les notables, un bon nombre crurent en lui, mais à cause desPharisiens ils ne se déclaraient pas, de peur d'être exclus de la synagogue,	42 However, many of the chief men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, that they might not be cast out of the synagogue.
43 car ils aimèrent la gloire des hommes plus que la gloire de Dieu.	43 For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
44 Jésus a dit, il l'a clamé: "Qui croit en moi, ce n'est pas en moi qu'il croit, mais en celui qui m'aenvoyé,	44 But Jesus cried, and said: He that believeth in me, doth not believe in me, but in him that sent me.
45 et qui me voit voit celui qui m'a envoyé.	45 And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me.
46 Moi, lumière, je suis venu dans le monde, pour que quiconque croit en moi ne demeure pas dans lesténèbres.	46 I am come a light into the world; that whosoever believeth in me, may not remain in darkness.
47 Si quelqu'un entend mes paroles et ne les garde pas, je ne le juge pas, car je ne suis pas venu pourjuger le monde, mais pour sauver le monde.	47 And if any man hear my words, and keep them not, I do not judge him: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 Qui me rejette et n'accueille pas mes paroles a son juge: la parole que j'ai fait entendre, c'est elle quile jugera au dernier jour;	48 He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
49 car ce n'est pas de moi-même que j'ai parlé, mais le Père qui m'a envoyé m'a lui-même commandé ceque j'avais à dire et à faire connaître;	49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 et je sais que son commandement est vie éternelle. Ainsi donc ce que je dis, tel que le Père me l'a ditje le dis."	50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting. The things therefore that I speak, even as the Father said unto me, so do I speak.
