1 E BILDAD Suhita rispose, e disse:	1 But Baldad the Suhite, responding, said:
2 Infino a quando proferirai tali ragionamenti, E saranno le parole della tua bocca come un vento impetuoso?	2 How long will you speak this way, so that the words of your mouth are like a changeable wind?
3 Iddio pervertirebbe egli il giudicio? L’Onnipotente pervertirebbe egli la giustizia?	3 Does God supplant judgment, or does the Almighty subvert that which is just?
4 Se i tuoi figliuoli hanno peccato contro a lui, Egli altresì li ha dati in mano del lor misfatto.	4 And if now your children have sinned against him, and he has dismissed them into the power of their iniquity,
5 Ma quant’è a te, se tu ricerchi Iddio, E chiedi grazia all’Onnipotente;	5 even so, you should arise early to God, so as to beseech the Almighty.
6 Se tu sei puro e diritto, Certamente egli si risveglierà di presente in favor tuo, E farà prosperare il tuo giusto abitacolo.	6 If you approach with purity and honesty, he will quickly be attentive to you, and a peaceful life will repay your righteousness,
7 E la tua condizione di prima sarà stata piccola, E l’ultima diventerà grandissima	7 so much so that, if your former things were small, your latter things would be multiplied greatly.
8 Perciocchè domanda pur le età primiere, E disponti ad informarti da’ padri loro;	8 For inquire of the earliest generation, and investigate diligently the history of the fathers,
9 Imperocchè, quant’è a noi, siamo sol da ieri in qua, E non abbiamo intendimento; Perchè i nostri giorni son come un’ombra sopra la terra;	9 (of course, we are but of yesterday and are ignorant that our days on earth are like a shadow,)
10 Non insegnerannoti essi, e non parlerannoti, E non trarranno essi fuori ragionamenti dal cuor loro?	10 and they will teach you; they will speak with you and will offer you the eloquence of their hearts.
11 Il giunco sorgerà egli senza pantano? L’erba de’ prati crescerà ella senz’acqua?	11 Can the marsh plant live without moisture? Or can sedges grow without water?
12 E pure, mentre è ancor verde, e non è ancora segata, Si secca avanti ogni altra erba.	12 When it is still in flower, and has not been pulled up by hand, it withers before all other plants.
13 Tali son le vie di tutti quelli che dimenticano Iddio, E così perirà la speranza dell’ipocrita;	13 Just so are the ways of all who forget God, and the hope of the hypocrite will perish.
14 La cui speranza sarà troncata, E la cui confidanza sarà una casa di ragnolo.	14 His frenzy will not please him, and his faith will be like a spider’s web.
15 Egli si appoggerà in su la casa sua, ma quella non istarà ferma; Egli si atterrà ad essa, ma ella non istarà in piè.	15 He will lean on his house, and it will not stand; he will prop it up, but it will not rise.
16 Egli è verdeggiante al sole, E i suoi rami si spandono fuori in sul giardino, nel quale è piantato;	16 He seems to have moisture before the sun arrives; and at sunrise, his sprout shoots forth.
17 Le sue radici s’intralciano presso alla fonte, Egli mira la casa di pietra.	17 His roots will crowd together over a heap of stones, and among the stones he will remain.
18 Ma, se alcuno lo manderà in ruina, divellendolo dal luogo suo, Questo lo rinnegherà dicendo: Io non ti vidi giammai.	18 If someone is devoured right beside him, he will deny him and will say: “I do not know you.”
19 Ecco, tale è l’allegrezza della sua via, E dalla polvere ne germoglieranno altri	19 For this is the benefit of his way, that others in turn may spring up from the earth.
20 Ecco, Iddio non disdegna l’uomo intiero; Ma altresì non presta la mano a’ maligni.	20 God will not discard the simple, nor will he extend his hand to the spiteful,
21 Ancora empierà egli la tua bocca di riso, E le tue labbra di giubilo.	21 even until your mouth is filled with laughter and your lips with rejoicing.
22 Quelli che ti odiano saranno vestiti di vergogna; Ma il tabernacolo degli empi non sarà più	22 Those who hate you, will be clothed with confusion, and the tabernacle of the impious will not continue.
