| 1 L'année où Tharthan, envoyé par Sargon, roi des Assyriens, vint à Azot, l'assiégea et la prit ; | 1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it; |
| 2 cette année-là, le Seigneur parla à Isaïe, fils d'Amos, et lui dit : Va, détache le sac de tes reins, et ôte tes souliers de tes pieds. Il fit ainsi, et il alla nu et déchaussé. | 2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot. |
| 3 Alors le Seigneur dit : De même que mon serviteur Isaïe a marché nu et déchaussé, pour être un signe et un présage de trois ans pour l'Egypte et pour l'Ethiopie, | 3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia; |
| 4 ainsi le roi des Assyriens emmènera d'Egypte et d'Ethiopie, captifs et exilés, les jeunes gens et les vieillards, nus et déchaussés, les reins découverts, à la honte (ce qui doit être caché dans le corps ayant été découvert pour l'ignominie) de l'Egypte. | 4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt. |
| 5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory. |
| 6 Alors les Juifs seront dans l'effroi (ils craindront), et ils rougiront (seront confondus par l'Ethiopie dans leur espoir, note) d'avoir mis leur espérance dans l'Ethiopie, et leur gloire dans l'Egypte.line Et les habitants de cette île diront en ce jour-là : C'était donc là notre espérance ? (,) Voilà ceux dont nous implorions le secours pour être délivrés du roi des Assyriens ! Et comment pourrons-nous échapper nous-mêmes ? | 6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape? |
