1 Call now! Will anyone respond to you? To which of the holy ones will you appeal?	1 ¡Clama, a ver si alguien te responde! ¿A cuál de los santos te volverás?
2 Nay, impatience kills the fool and indignation slays the simpleton.	2 Porque la exasperación mata al insensato y la pasión hace morir al necio.
3 I have seen a fool spreading his roots, but his household suddenly decayed.	3 Yo he visto al insensato echar raíces, pero al instante maldije su morada.
4 His children shall be far from safety; they shall be crushed at the gate without a rescuer.	4 Sus hijos estarán lejos de toda ayuda, aplastados en la Puerta, sin que nadie los libre.
5 What they have reaped the hungry shall eat up; (or God shall take it away by blight;) and the thirsty shall swallow their substance.	5 Lo que ellos cosechen se lo comerá el hambriento, y el sediento suspirará por sus riquezas.
6 For mischief comes not out of the earth, nor does trouble spring out of the ground;	6 No, el mal no sale del suelo ni la miseria brota de la tierra:
7 But man himself begets mischief, as sparks fly upward.	7 es el hombre el que engendra la miseria, como las águilas levantan vuelo hacia lo alto.
8 In your place, I would appeal to God, and to God I would state my plea.	8 Yo, por mi parte, buscaría a Dios, a él le expondría mi causa.
9	9 El realiza obras grandes e inescrutables, maravillas que no se pueden enumerar.
10 He gives rain upon the earth and sends water upon the fields;	10 Derrama la lluvia sobre la tierra y hace correr el agua por los campos.
11 He sets up on high the lowly, and those who mourn he exalts to safety.	11 Pone a los humildes en las alturas y los afligidos alcanzan la salvación.
12 He frustrates the plans of the cunning, so that their hands achieve no success;	12 Hace fracasar los proyectos de los astutos para que no prospere el trabajo de sus manos.
13 He catches the wise in their own ruses, and the designs of the crafty are routed.	13 Sorprende a los sabios en su propia astucia y el plan de los malvados se deshace rápidamente.
14 They meet with darkness in the daytime, and at noonday they grope as though it were night.	14 En pleno día, chocan contra las tinieblas, y andan a tientas al mediodía, como si fuera de noche.
15 But the poor from the edge of the sword and from the hand of the mighty, he saves.	15 El salva al huérfano de la espada, y al indigente, de la mano del poderoso.
16 Thus the unfortunate have hope, and iniquity closes her mouth.	16 Así, el débil recupera la esperanza y los malvados cierran la boca.
17 Happy is the man whom God reproves! The Almighty's chastening do not reject.	17 ¡Feliz el hombre a quien Dios reprende y que no desdeña la lección del Todopoderoso!
18 For he wounds, but he binds up; he smites, but his hands give healing.	18 Porque él hiere, pero venda la herida; golpea, pero sana con sus manos.
19 Out of six troubles he will deliver you, and at the seventh no evil shall touch you.	19 Seis veces te librará de la angustia, y la séptima, el mal no te alcanzará.
20 In famine he will deliver you from death, and in war from the threat of the sword;	20 En tiempo de hambre, te librará de la muerte, y en la guerra, del filo de la espada.
21 From the scourge of the tongue you shall be hidden, and shall not fear approaching ruin.	21 Estarás protegido contra el azote de las malas lenguas y no temerás cuando llegue la devastación.
22 At destruction and want you shall laugh; the beasts of the earth you need not dread.	22 Te reirás de la devastación y del hambre y no temerás a las fieras de la tierra.
23 You shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the wild beasts shall be at peace with you.	23 Sí, tendrás una alianza con las piedras del campo y las fieras estarán en paz contigo.
24 And you shall know that your tent is secure; taking stock of your household, you shall miss nothing.	24 Sabrás que en tu carpa hay prosperidad, y cuando revises tu morada, nada faltará.
25 You shall know that your descendants are many, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.	25 Verás que se multiplica tu descendencia y que tus retoños son como la hierba de la tierra.
26 You shall approach the grave in full vigor, as a shock of grain comes in at its season.	26 Llegarás a la tumba lleno de vigor como se levanta una parva a su debido tiempo.
27 Lo, this we have searched out; so it is! This we have heard, and you should know.	27 Esto es lo que hemos comprobado, y es así: escúchalo bien, y saca provecho.
