1 Sansón bajó a Timná y se fijó en Timná en una mujer entre las hijas de los filisteos.	1 Samson went down to Timnah and saw there one of the Philistine women.
2 Subió y se lo dijo a su padre y a su madre: «He visto en Timná una mujer de entre las hijas de los filisteos: tomádmela para esposa».	2 On his return he told his father and mother, "There is a Philistine woman I saw in Timnah whom I wish you to get as a wife for me."
3 Su padre y su madre le dijeron: «¿No hay ninguna mujer entre las hijas de tus hermanos y en todo mi pueblo, para que vayas a tomar mujer entre esos filisteos incircuncisos?» Pero Sansón respondió a su padre: «Toma a ésa para mí, porque esa es la que me gusta».	3 His father and mother said to him, "Can you find no wife among your kinsfolk or among all our people, that you must go and take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?" But Samson answered his father, "Get her for me, for she pleases me."
4 Su padre y su madre no sabían que esto venía de Yahveh, que buscaba un pretexto contra los filisteos, pues por aquel tiempo los filisteos dominaban a Israel.	4 Now his father and mother did not know that this had been brought about by the LORD, who was providing an opportunity against the Philistines; for at that time they had dominion over Israel.
5 Sansón bajó a Timná y al llegar a las viñas de Timná, vio un leoncillo que venía rugiendo a su encuentro.	5 So Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother. When they had come to the vineyards of Timnah, a young lion came roaring to meet him.
6 El espíritu de Yahveh le invadió, y sin tener nada en la mano, Sansón despedazó al león como se despedaza un cabrito; pero no contó ni a su padre ni a su madre lo que había hecho.	6 But the spirit of the LORD came upon Samson, and although he had no weapons, he tore the lion in pieces as one tears a kid.
7 Bajó y habló con la mujer, la cual le agradó.	7 However, on the journey to speak for the woman, he did not mention to his father or mother what he had done.
8 Algún tiempo después, volvió Sansón para casarse con ella. Dio un rodeo para ver el cadáver del león y he aquí que en el cuerpo del león había un enjambre de abejas con miel.	8 Later, when he returned to marry the woman who pleased him, he stepped aside to look at the remains of the lion and found a swarm of bees and honey in the lion's carcass.
9 La recogió en su mano y según caminaba la iba comiendo. Cuando llegó donde su padre y su madre les dio miel y comieron, pero no les dijo que la había cogido del cadáver del león.	9 So he scooped the honey out into his palms and ate it as he went along. When he came to his father and mother, he gave them some to eat, without telling them that he had scooped the honey from the lion's carcass.
10 Su padre bajó donde la mujer y Sansón hizo allí un banquete, pues así suelen hacer los jóvenes.	10 His father also went down to the woman, and Samson gave a banquet there, since it was customary for the young men to do this.
11 Pero, al verle, eligieron treinta compañeros para que estuvieran con él.	11 When they met him, they brought thirty men to be his companions.
12 Sansón les dijo: «Os voy a proponer una adivinanza. Si me dais la solución dentro de los siete días de la fiesta y acertáis, os daré treinta túnicas y treinta mudas.	12 Samson said to them, "Let me propose a riddle to you. If within the seven days of the feast you solve it for me successfully, I will give you thirty linen tunics and thirty sets of garments.
13 Pero si no podéis darme la solución, entonces me daréis vosotros treinta túnicas y treinta mudas». Ellos le dijeron: «Propón tu adivinanza, que te escuchamos».	13 But if you cannot answer it for me, you must give me thirty tunics and thirty sets of garments." "Propose your riddle," they responded; "we will listen to it."
14 El les dijo: «Del que come salió comida, y del fuerte salió dulzura». A los tres días aún no habían acertado la adivinanza.	14 So he said to them,
15 Al cuarto día dijeron a la mujer de Sansón: «Convence a tu marido para que nos explique la adivinanza. Si no, te quemaremos a ti y a la casa de tu padre. ¿O es que nos habéis invitado para robarnos?»	15 they said on the fourth day to Samson's wife, "Coax your husband to answer the riddle for us, or we will burn you and your family. Did you invite us here to reduce us to poverty?"
16 La mujer de Sansón se puso a llorar sobre él, y dijo: «Tú me odias y no me amas. Has propuesto una adivinanza a los hijos de mi pueblo y a mí no me la has explicado». El le respondió: «Ni a mi padre ni a mi madre se la he explicado ¿y te la voy a explicar a ti?»	16 At Samson's side, his wife wept and said, "You must hate me; you do not love me, for you have proposed a riddle to my countrymen, but have not told me the answer." He said to her, "If I have not told it even to my father or my mother, must I tell it to you?"
17 Ella estuvo llorando encima de él los siete días que duró la fiesta. Por fin el séptimo día se la explicó, porque lo tenía asediado y ella explicó la adivinanza a los hijos de su pueblo.	17 But she wept beside him during the seven days the feast lasted. On the seventh day, since she importuned him, he told her the answer, and she explained the riddle to her countrymen.
18 El séptimo día, antes que entrara en la alcoba, la gente de la ciudad dijo a Sansón: «¿Qué hay más dulce que la miel, y qué más fuerte que el león?» El les repondió: «Si no hubierais arado con mi novilla, no habríais acertado mi adivinanza».	18 On the seventh day, before the sun set, the men of the city said to him,
19 Luego el espíritu de Yahveh le invadió, bajó a Ascalón y mató allí a treinta hombres, tomó sus despojos y entregó las mudas a los acertantes de la adivinanza; luego, encendido en cólera, subió a la casa de su padre.	19 The spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, where he killed thirty of their men and despoiled them; he gave their garments to those who had answered the riddle. Then he went off to his own family in anger,
20 La mujer de Sansón pasó a ser de un compañero suyo, el que había sido su amigo de confianza.	20 and Samson's wife was married to the one who had been best man at his wedding.
