BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El Espíritu dice claramente que en los últimos tiempos algunos apostatarán de la fe entregándose a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas diabólicas,	1 The Spirit has explicitly said that during the last times some wil desert the faith and pay attention todeceitful spirits and doctrines that come from devils,
2 por la hipocresía de embaucadores que tienen marcada a fuego su propia conciencia;	2 seduced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are branded as though with a red-hot iron:
3 éstos prohíben el matrimonio y el uso de alimentos que Dios creó para que fueran comidos con acción de gracias por los creyentes y por los que han conocido la verdad.	3 they forbid marriage and prohibit foods which God created to be accepted with thanksgiving by all whobelieve and who know the truth.
4 Porque todo lo que Dios ha creado es bueno y no se ha de rechazar ningún alimento que se coma con acción de gracias;	4 Everything God has created is good, and no food is to be rejected, provided it is received withthanksgiving:
5 pues queda santificado por la Palabra de Dios y por la oración.	5 the word of God and prayer make it holy.
6 Su tú enseñas estas cosas a los hermanos, serás un buen ministro de Cristo Jesús, alimentado con las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina que has seguido fielmente.	6 If you put al this to the brothers, you wil be a good servant of Christ Jesus and show that you havereal y digested the teaching of the faith and the good doctrine which you have always fol owed.
7 Rechaza, en cambio, las fábulas profanas y los cuentos de viejas. Ejercítate en la piedad.	7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself for religion.
8 Los ejercicios corporales sirven para poco; en cambio la piedad es provechosa para todo, pues tiene la promesa de la vida, de la presente y de la futura.	8 Physical exercise is useful enough, but the usefulness of religion is unlimited, since it holds out promiseboth for life here and now and for the life to come;
9 Es cierta y digna de ser aceptada por todos esta afirmación:	9 that is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt it.
10 Si nos fatigamos y luchamos es porque tenemos puesta la esperanza en Dios vivo, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, principalmente de los creyentes.	10 I mean that the point of al our toiling and battling is that we have put our trust in the living God and heis the Saviour of the whole human race but particularly of al believers.
11 Predica y enseña estas cosas.	11 This is what you are to instruct and teach.
12 Que nadie menosprecie tu juventud. Procura, en cambio, ser para los creyentes modelo en la palabra, en el comportamiento, en la caridad, en la fe, en la pureza.	12 Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to al the believers in the way youspeak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity.
13 Hasta que yo llegue, dedícate a la lectura, a la exhortación, a la enseñanza.	13 Until I arrive, devote yourself to reading to the people, encouraging and teaching.
14 No descuides el carisma que hay en ti, que se te comunicó por intervención profética mediante la imposición de las manos del colegio de presbíteros.	14 You have in you a spiritual gift which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the body of elderslaid their hands on you; do not neglect it.
15 Ocúpate en estas cosas; vive entregado a ellas para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto a todos.	15 Let this be your care and your occupation, and everyone wil be able to see your progress.
16 Vela por ti mismo y por la enseñanza; persevera en estas disposiciones, pues obrando así te salvarás a ti mismo y a los que te escuchen.	16 Be conscientious about what you do and what you teach; persevere in this, and in this way you wilsave both yourself and those who listen to you.
