2 Corintios 1

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y Timoteo, el hermano, a la Iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, con todos los santos que están en toda Acaya;	1 Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, our brother, to the church of God inCorinth and to al God's holy people in the whole of Achaia.
2 a vosotros gracia y paz de parte de Dios, Padre nuestro, y del Señor Jesucristo.	2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 ¡Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de los misericordias y Dios de toda consolación,	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father and the God who givesevery possible encouragement;
4 que nos consuela en toda tribulación nuestra para poder nosotros consolar a los que están en toda tribulación, mediante el consuelo con que nosotros somos consolados por Dios!	4 he supports us in every hardship, so that we are able to come to the support of others, in everyhardship of theirs because of the encouragement that we ourselves receive from God.
5 Pues, así como abundan en nosotros los sufrimientos de Cristo, igualmente abunda también por Cristo nuestra consolación.	5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow into our lives; so too does the encouragement we receive through Christ.
6 Si somos atribulados, lo somos para consuelo y salvación vuestra; si somos consolados, lo somos para el consuelo vuestro, que os hace soportar con patiencia los mismos sufrimientos que también nosotros soportamos.	6 So if we have hardships to undergo, this wil contribute to your encouragement and your salvation; if wereceive encouragement, this is to gain for you the encouragement which enables you to bear with perseverancethe same sufferings as we do.
7 Es firme nuestra esperanza respecto de vosotros; pues sabemos que, como sois solidarios con nosotros en los sufrimientos, así lo seréis también en la consolación.	7 So our hope for you is secure in the knowledge that you share the encouragement we receive, no lessthan the sufferings we bear.
8 Pues no queremos que lo ignoréis, hermanos: la tribulación sufrida en Asia nos abrumó hasta el extremo, por encima de nuestras fuerzas, hasta tal punto que perdimos la esperanza de conservar la vida.	8 So in the hardships we underwent in Asia, we want you to be quite certain, brothers, that we wereunder extraordinary pressure, beyond our powers of endurance, so that we gave up al hope even of surviving.
9 Pues hemos tenido sobre nosotros mismos la sentencia de muerte, para que no pongamos nuestra confianza en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos.	9 In fact we were carrying the sentence of death within our own selves, so that we should be forced totrust not in ourselves but in God, who raises the dead.
10 El nos libró de tan mortal peligro, y nos librará; en él esperamos que nos seguirá librando,	10 He did save us from such a death and will save us -- we are relying on him to do so.
11 si colaboráis también vosotros con la oración en favor nuestro, para que la gracia obtenida por intervención de muchos sea por muchos agradecida en nuestro nombre.	11 Your prayer for us wil contribute to this, so that, for God's favour shown to us as the result of theprayers of so many, thanks too may be given by many on our behalf.
12 El motivo de nuestro orgullo es el testimonio de nuestra conciencia, de que nos hemos conducido en el mundo, y sobre todo respecto de vosotros, con la santidad y la sinceridad que vienen de Dios, y no con la sabiduría carnal, sino con la gracia de Dios.	12 There is one thing that we are proud of, namely our conscientious conviction that we have alwaysbehaved towards everyone, and especial y towards you, with that unal oyed holiness that comes from God,relying not on human reasoning but on the grace of God.
13 Pues no os escribimos otra cosa que lo que leéis y comprendéis, y espero comprenderéis plenamente,	13 In our writing, there is nothing that you cannot read clearly and understand;
14 como ya nos habéis comprendido en parte, que somos nosotros el motivo de vuestro orgullo, lo mismo que vosotros seréis el nuestro en el Día de nuestro Señor Jesús.	14 and it is my hope that, just as you have already understood us partial y, so you wil understand fullythat you can be as proud of us as we shal be of you when the Day of our Lord Jesus comes.
15 Con este convencimiento quería yo ir primero donde vosotros a fin de procuraros una segunda gracia,	15 It was with this assurance that I had been meaning to come to you first, so that you would benefitdoubly;
16 y pasando por vosotros ir a Macedonia y volver nuevamente de Macedonia donde vosotros, y ser encaminado por vosotros hacia Judea.	16 both to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and then to return to you again from Macedonia, so thatyou could set me on my way to Judaea.
17 Al proponerme esto ¿obré con ligereza? O ¿se inspiraban mis proyectos en la carne, de forma que se daban en mí el sí y el no?	17 Since that was my purpose, do you think I lightly changed my mind? Or that my plans are based onordinary human promptings and I have in my mind Yes, yes at the same time as No, no?
18 ¡Por la fidelidad de Dios!, que la palabra que os dirigimos no es sí y no.	18 As surely as God is trustworthy, what we say to you is not both Yes and No.
19 Porque el Hijo de Dios, Cristo Jesús, a quien os predicamos Silvano, Timoteo y yo, no fue sí y no; en él no hubo más que sí.	19 The Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed to you by us, that is, by me and by Silvanus andTimothy, was never Yes-and-No; his nature is al Yes.
20 Pues todas las promesas hechas por Dios han tenido su sí en él; y por eso decimos por él «Amén» a la gloria de Dios.	20 For in him is found the Yes to al God's promises and therefore it is 'through him' that we answer'Amen' to give praise to God.
21 Y es Dios el que nos conforta juntamente con vosotros en Cristo y el que nos ungió,	21 It is God who gives us, with you, a sure place in Christ
22 y el que nos marcó con su sello y nos dio en arras el Espíritu en nuestros corazones.	22 and has both anointed us and marked us with his seal, giving us as pledge the Spirit in our hearts.
23 ¡Por mi vida!, testigo me es Dios de que, si todavía no he ido a Corinto, ha sido por miramiento a vosotros.	23 By my life I cal on God to be my witness that it was only to spare you that I did not come to Corinthagain.
24 No es que pretendamos dominar sobre vuestra fe, sino que contribuimos a vuestro gozo, pues os mantenéis firmes en la fe.	24 We have no wish to lord it over your faith, but to work with you for your joy; for your stand in the faith isfirm.
