Jeremías 8

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En aquel tiempo - oráculo de Yahveh - sacarán de sus tumbas los huesos de los reyes de Judá, los huesos de sus príncipes, los huesos de los sacerdotes, los huesos de los profetas y los huesos de los moradores de Jerusalén,	1 'When that time comes, Yahweh declares, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its chief men,the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, wil be takenfrom their tombs.
2 y los dispersarán ante el sol, la luna y todo el ejército celeste a quienes amaron y sirvieron, aquienes siguieron, consultaron y adoraron, para no ser recogidos ni sepultados más: se volverán estiércol sobre la haz de la tierra.	2 They wil be spread out before the sun, the moon, the whole array of heaven, whom they have loved andserved, fol owed, consulted and worshipped. They wil not be gathered or reburied but will be left lying on thesurface like dung.
3 Y será preferible la muerte a la vida para todo el resto que subsistiere de este linaje malo adondequiera que yo les relegue - oráculo de Yahveh Sebaot -.	3 And death will seem preferable to life to al the survivors of this wicked race, wherever I have driventhem, Yahweh Sabaoth declares.
4 Les dirás: Así dice Yahveh: Los que caen ¿no se levantan? y si uno se extravía ¿no cabe tornar?	4 'You are to tel them, "Yahweh says this: If someone fal s, can he not stand up again? If people stray,can they not turn back?
5 Pues ¿por qué este pueblo sigue apostatando, Jerusalén con apostasía perpetua? Se aferran a la mentira, rehúsan convertirse.	5 Why does this people persist in acts of infidelity, why does Jerusalem persist in continuous infidelity?They cling to il usion, they refuse to turn back.
6 He escuchado atentamente: no hablan a derechas. Nadie deplora su maldad diciendo: «¿Qué he hecho?» Todos se extravían, cada cual en su carrera, cual caballo que irrumpe en la batalla.	6 I have listened attentively: they have never said anything like that. Not one repents of wickednesssaying: What have I done? Each one keeps returning to the course like a horse charging into battle.
7 Hasta la cigüeña en el cielo conoce su estación, y la tórtola, la golondrina o la grulla observan la época de sus migraciones. Pero mi pueblo ignora el derecho de Yahveh.	7 Even the stork in the sky knows the appropriate season; turtledove, swal ow and crane observe theirtime of migration. But my people do not know Yahweh's laws!" '
8 ¿Cómo decís: «Somos sabios, y poseemos la Ley de Yahveh?» Cuando es bien cierto que en mentira la ha cambiado el cálamo mentiroso de los escribas.	8 How can you say, 'We are wise, since we have Yahweh's Law?' Look how it has been falsified by thelying pen of the scribes!
9 Los sabios pasarán vergüenza, serán abatidos y presos. He aquí que han desechado la palabra de Yahveh, y su sabiduría ¿de qué les sirve?	9 The wise are put to shame, alarmed, caught out because they have rejected Yahweh's word. What pricetheir wisdom now?
10 Así que yo daré sus mujeres a otros, sus campos a nuevos amos, porque del más chiquito al más grande todos andan buscando su provecho, y desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, todos practican el fraude.	10 So I shal give their wives to other men, their fields to new masters, for, from the least to greatest, theyare al greedy for gain; prophet no less than priest, al of them practise fraud.
11 Han curado el quebranto de la hija de mi pueblo a la ligera, diciendo: «¡Paz, paz!», cuando no había paz.	11 Without concern they dress the wound of the daughter of my people, saying, 'Peace! Peace!' whereasthere is no peace.
12 ¿Se avergonzaron de las abominaciones que hicieron? ¡Avergonzarse, no se avergonzaron; sonrojarse, tampoco supieron! Por tanto caerán con los que cayeren; tropezarán cuando se les visite - dice Yahveh -.	12 They should be ashamed of their loathsome deeds. Not they! They feel no shame, they do not evenknow how to blush. And so as others fall, they too wil fal , will be thrown down when the time for punishing themcomes, Yahweh says.
13 Quisiera recoger de ellos alguna cosa - oráculo de Yahveh - pero no hay racimos en la vid ni higos en la higuera, y están mustias sus hojas. Es que yo les he dado quien les despoje.	13 I shal put an end to them, Yahweh declares, no more grapes on the vine, no more figs on the fig treeonly withered leaves: I have found them people to trample on them!
14 - «¿Por qué nos quedamos tranquilos? ¡Juntaos, vamos a las plazas fuertes para enmudecer allí, pues Yahveh nuestro Dios nos hace morir y nos propina agua envenenada, porque hemos pecado contra Yahveh!	14 Why are we sitting still? Mobilise! Take to the fortified towns and there fall silent, since Yahweh ourGod means to silence us by giving us poisoned water to drink because we have sinned against him.
15 Esperábamos paz, y no hubo bien alguno; el tiempo de la cura, y se presenta el miedo.	15 We are hoping for peace -- no good came of it! For the time of healing -- nothing but terror!
16 Desde Dan se deja oír. el resuello de sus caballos. Al relincho sonoro de sus corceles tembló la tierra toda. Vendrán y comerán el país y sus bienes, la ciudad y sus habitantes».	16 From Dan you can hear the snorting of his horses; at the neighing of his stal ions the whole countryquakes; they are coming to devour the country and its contents, the town and those that live in it.
17 - Sí, he aquí que yo envío contra vosotros sierpes venenosas contra las que no existe encantamiento, y os picarán - oráculo de Yahveh -.	17 Yes, now I am sending you poisonous snakes against which no charm exists; and they wil bite you,Yahweh declares.
18 Sin remedio el dolor me acomete, el corazón me falla;	18 Incurable sorrow overtakes me, my heart fails me.
19 he aquí el grito lastimero de la hija de mi pueblo desde todos los rincones del país: «¿No está Yahveh en Sión? ¿su Rey no mora ya en ella? (¿Por qué me han irritado con sus ídolos, con esas Vanidades traídas del extranjero?)	19 Hark, from the daughter of my people the cry for help, ringing far and wide throughout the land! 'IsYahweh no longer in Zion, her King no longer there?' (Why have they provoked me with their idols, with theirfutile foreign gods?)
20 La siega pasó, el verano acabó, mas nosotros no estamos a salvo».	20 'Harvest is over, summer at an end, and we have not been saved!'
21 Me duele el quebranto de la hija de mi pueblo; estoy abrumado, el pánico se apodera de mí.	21 The wound of the daughter of my people wounds me too, all looks dark to me, terror grips me.
22 ¿No hay sandáraca en Galaad?, ¿no quedan médicos allí? Pues ¿cómo es que no llega el remedio para la hija de mi pueblo?	22 Is there no balm in Gilead any more? Is no doctor there? Then why is there no progress in the cure ofthe daughter of my people?
23 ¡Quién convirtiera mi cabeza en llanto, mis ojos en manantial de lágrimas para llorar día y noche a los muertos de la hija de mi pueblo!	23 Who wil turn my head into a fountain, and my eyes into a spring of tears, that I can weep day and nightover the slain of the daughter of my people?
