Jeremías 35

BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Palabra que fue dirigida a Jeremías de parte de Yahveh, en tiempo de Yoyaquim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá.	1 This word came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2 «Ve a la casa de los rekabitas y les hablas. Les llevas a la Casa de Yahveh, a una de las cámaras, y les escancias vino».	2 Approach the Rechabites and speak to them; bring them into the house of the LORD, to one of the rooms, and give them wine to drink.
3 Tomé, pues, a Yazanías, hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Jabassinías, y a sus hermanos, a todos sus hijos y a toda la casa de los rekabitas,	3 So I went and brought Jaazaniah, son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, his brothers and all his sons, the whole company of the Rechabites,
4 y les llevé a la Casa de Yahveh, a la cámera de Ben Yojanán, hijo de Yigdalías, hombre de Dios, la cual cámara está al lado de la de los jefes, y encima de la de Maaseías, hijo de Sallum, guarda del umbral,	4 into the house of the LORD, to the room of the sons of Hanan, son of Igdaliah, the man of God, next to the princes' room, above the room of Maaseiah, son of Shallum, keeper of the doorway.
5 y presentando a los hijos de la casa de los rekabitas unos jarros llenos de vino y tazas, les dije: «¡Bebed vino!»	5 I set before these Rechabite men bowls full of wine and offered them cups to drink the wine.
6 Dijeron ellos: «No bebemos vino, porque nuestro padre Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, nos dio este mandato: “No beberéis vino ni vosotros ni vuestros hijos nunca jamás,	6 "We do not drink wine," they said to me: "Jonadab, Rechab's son, our father, forbade us in these words: 'Neither you nor your children shall ever drink wine.
7 ni edificaréis casa, ni sembraréis semilla, ni plantaréis viñedo, ni poseeréis nada, sino que en tiendas pasaréis toda vuestra existencia, para que viváis muchos días sobre la faz del suelo, donde sois forasteros.”	7 Build no house and sow no seed; neither plant nor own a vineyard. You shall dwell in tents all your life, so that you may live long on the earth where you are wayfarers.'
8 Nosotros hemos obedecido a la voz de nuestro padre Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, en todo cuanto nos mandó, absteniéndonos de beber vino de por vida, nosotros, nuestras mujeres, nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas,	8 Now we have heeded Jonadab, Rechab's son, our father, in all his prohibitions. All our lives we have not drunk wine, neither we, nor our wives, nor our sons, nor our daughters.
9 y no edificando casas donde vivir, ni poseyendo viña ni campo de sementera,	9 We build no houses to live in; we own no vineyards or fields or crops,
10 sino que hemos vivido en tiendas, obedeciendo y obrando en todo conforme a lo que nos mandó nuestro padre Yonadab.	10 and we live in tents; we obediently do everything our father Jonadab commanded us.
11 Pero al subir Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, contra el país, dijimos: “Venid y entremos en Jerusalén, para huir de las fuerzas caldeas y de las de Arán”, y nos instalamos en Jerusalén».	11 But when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, invaded this land, we decided to come into Jerusalem to escape the army of the Chaldeans and the army of Aram; that is why we are now living in Jerusalem."
12 Entonces fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh a Jeremías como sigue:	12 Then this word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
13 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: Ve y dices a los hombres de Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén: ¿ No aprenderéis la lección que os invita a escuchar mis palabras? - oráculo de Yahveh -.	13 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, say to the men of Judah and to the citizens of Jerusalem: Will you not take correction and obey my words? says the LORD.
14 Se ha cumplido la palabra de Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, que prohibió a sus hijos beber vino, y no han bebido hasta la fecha, porque obedecieron la orden de su padre. Yo me afané en hablaros a vosotros y no me oísteis.	14 The advice of Jonadab, Rechab's son, by which he forbade his children to drink wine, has been followed: to this day they have not drunk it; they obeyed their father's command. Me, however, you have not obeyed, although I spoke to you untiringly and insistently.
15 Me afané en enviaros a todos mis siervos los profetas a deciros: Ea, tornad cada uno de vuestro mal camino, mejorad vuestras acciones y no andéis en pos de otros dioses para servirles, y os quedaréis en la tierra que os di a vosotros y a vuestros padres; mas no aplicasteis el oído ni me hicisteis caso.	15 I kept sending you all my servants the prophets, telling you to turn back, all of you, from your evil way; to reform your conduct, and not follow strange gods or serve them, if you would remain on the land which I gave you and your fathers; but you did not heed me or obey me.
16 Así, los hijos de Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, han cumplido el precepto que su padre les impuso, mientras que este pueblo no me ha hecho caso.	16 Yes, the children of Jonadab, Rechab's son, observed the command which their father laid on them; but this people does not obey me!
17 Por tanto, así ha dicho Yahveh, el Dios Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo traigo contra Judá y contra los habitantes de Jerusalén todo el mal que pronuncié respecto a ellos, por cuanto les hablé y no me oyeron, les llamé y no me respondieron.	17 Now, therefore, says the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel: I will bring upon Judah and all the citizens of Jerusalem every evil that I threatened; because when I spoke they did not obey, when I called they did not answer.
18 A la casa de los rekabitas dijo Jeremías: «Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: Por cuanto que habéis hecho caso del precepto de vuestro padre Yonadab y habéis guardado todos esos preceptos y obrado conforme a cuanto os mandó,	18 But to the company of the Rechabites Jeremiah said: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Since you have obeyed the command of Jonadab, your father, kept all his commands and done everything he commanded you,
19 por lo mismo, así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: No faltará a Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, quien siga ante mi faz todos los días».	19 thus therefore says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Never shall there fail to be a descendant of Jonadab, Rechab's son, standing in my service.
