Isaías 28

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ¡Ay, corona de arrogancia - borrachos de Efraím - y capullo marchito - gala de su adorno - que está en el cabezo del valle fértil, aficionados al vino!	1 Woe to the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards, to the fading flower of its proud splendour sited atthe head of the lush val ey, to those prostrated by wine!
2 He aquí que uno, fuerte y robusto, enviado por el Señor, como una granizada, como huracán devastador, como aguacero torrencial de desbordadas aguas, los echará a tierra con la mano.	2 See, a strong and mighty man in the Lord's service, like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, likeimmense flood-waters overflowing, with his hand he throws them to the ground.
3 Con los pies será hollada la corona de arrogancia, los borrachos de Efraím,	3 They wil be trampled underfoot, the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards,
4 y el capullo marchito, gala de su adorno, que está en el cabezo del valle fértil; y serán como la breva que precede al verano, que, en cuanto la ve uno, la toma con la mano y se la come.	4 and the faded flower of its proud splendour sited at the head of the lush val ey. Like a fig ripe beforesummer comes: whoever spots it forthwith picks and swal ows it.
5 Aquel día será Yahveh Sebaot corona de gala, diadema de adorno para el resto de su pueblo,	5 That day Yahweh Sabaoth wil be a crown of splendour and a proud diadem for the remnant of hispeople,
6 espíritu de juicio para el que se siente en el tribunal, y energía para los que rechazan hacia la puerta a los atacantes.	6 a spirit of fair judgement for him who sits in judgement, and the strength of those who repel the assaulton the gate.
7 También ésos por el vino desatinan y por el licor divagan: sacerdotes y profetas desatinan por el licor, se ahogan en vino, divagan por causa del licor, desatinan en sus visiones, titubean en sus decisiones.	7 These too have been confused by wine, have gone astray owing to liquor. Priest and prophet havebecome confused by liquor, are sodden with wine, have strayed owing to liquor, have become confused in theirvisions, have strayed in their decisions.
8 Porque todas las mesas están cubiertas de vómito asqueroso, sin respetar sitio.	8 Yes, every table is covered in filthy vomit, not one is clean!
9 «¿A quién se instruirá en el conocimiento? ¿a quién se le hará entender lo que oye? A los recién destetados, a los retirados de los pechos.	9 'Whom does he think he is lecturing? Whom does he think his message is for? Babies just weaned?Babies just taken from the breast?
10 Porque dice: Sau la sau, sau la sau, cau la cau, cau la cau, zeer sam, zeer sam».	10 With his "Sav lasav, sav lasav, kav lakav, kav lakav, zeer sham, zeer sham!"
11 Sí, con palabras extrañas y con lengua extranjera hablará a este pueblo	11 Now, with stammering lips and in a foreign language, he wil talk to this nation.
12 él, que les había dicho: «¡Ahora, descanso! Dejad reposar al fatigado. ¡Ahora, calma!» Pero ellos no han querido escuchar.	12 He used to say to them, 'Here you can rest! Here you can let the weary rest! Here al is quiet.' But theyrefused to listen.
13 Ahora Yahveh les dice: «Sau la sau, sau la sau, cau la cau, cau la cau, zeer sam, zeer sam», de suerte que vayan y caigan hacia atrás y se fracturen, caigan en la trampa y sean presos.	13 Now Yahweh is going to say this to them, 'Sav lasav, sav lasav, kav lakav, kav lakav, zeer sham, zeersham.' So that when they walk they wil fal over backwards and so be broken, trapped and taken captive.
14 Por tanto oíd la palabra de Yahveh, hombres burlones, señores de este pueblo de Jerusalén.	14 Hence listen to Yahweh's word, you insolent men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem.
15 Porque habéis dicho: «Hemos celebrado alianza con la muerte, y con el seol hemos hecho pacto, cuando pasare el azote desbordado, no nos alcanzará, porque hemos puesto la mentira por refugio nuestro y en el engaño nos hemos escondido».	15 Because you have said, 'We have made a treaty with Death and have struck a pact with Sheol. Whenthe scourging flood comes over, it wil not touch us, for we have made lies our refuge and hidden underfalsehood.'
16 Por eso, así dice el Señor Yahveh: «He aquí que yo pongo por fundamento en Sión una piedra elegida, angular, preciosa y fundamental: quien tuviere fe en ella no vacilará.	16 So the Lord Yahweh says this, 'Now I shall lay a stone in Zion, a granite stone, a precious corner-stone, a firm foundation-stone: no one who relies on this will stumble.
17 Pondré la equidad como medida y la justicia como nivel». Barrerá el granizo el refugio de mentira y las aguas inundarán el escondite.	17 And I wil make fair judgement the measure, and uprightness the plumb-line.' But hail wil sweep awaythe refuge of lies and floods wash away the hiding-place;
18 Será rota vuestra alianza con la muerte y vuestro pacto con el seol no se mantendrá. Cuando pasare el azote desbordado, os aplastará.	18 your treaty with Death wil be broken and your pact with Sheol wil not hold. When the scourging floodcomes over, you wil be trodden down by it;
19 Siempre que pase os alcanzará. Porque mañana tras mañana pasará, de día y de noche, y habrá estremecimiento sólo con oírlo.	19 every time it comes over, it wil seize on you, for it wil come over, morning after morning, day by dayand night by night. Nothing but fear will make you understand what you hear.
20 La cama será corta para poder estirarse y el cobertor será estrecho para poder taparse.	20 For the bed is too short to stretch in, the blanket too narrow for covering.
21 Porque como en el monte Perasim surgirá Yahveh, como en el valle de Gabaón se enfurecerá para hacer su acción, su extraña acción, y para trabajar su trabajo, su exótico trabajo.	21 Yes, as on Mount Perazim, Yahweh will rise, as in the Val ey of Gibeon, he wil storm to do his work,his mysterious work, to do his deed, his extraordinary deed.
22 Ahora no os burléis, no sea que se aprieten vuestras ligaduras. Porque cosa concluida y decidida he oído de parte de Yahveh Sebaot, tocante a toda la tierra.	22 Stop scoffing, then, or your bonds wil be tightened further, for I have heard it: it has been irrevocablydecided as regards the whole country by the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.
23 Escuchad y oíd mi voz, atended y oíd mi palabra.	23 Listen closely to my words, be attentive, understand what I am saying.
24 ¿Acaso cada día ara al arador para sembrar, abre y rompe su terreno?	24 Does the ploughman plough al day to sow, breaking up and harrowing his ground?
25 Luego que ha igualado su superficie, ¿no esparce la neguilla, y desparrama el comino, y pone trigo, cebada y espelta, cada cosa en su tablar?	25 Once he has level ed its surface, does he not scatter fennel, sow cummin? Then he puts in wheat,mil et, barley and, round the edges, spelt,
26 Quien le enseña esta usanza, quien le instruye es su Dios.	26 for his God has taught him this rule and instructed him.
27 Porque no con el trillo es trillada la neguilla, ni se hace girar rueda de carreta sobre el comino; sino que con el bastón es apaleada la neguilla, y el comino con la vara.	27 Fennel must not be crushed with a sledge, nor cart-wheels driven over cummin; fennel must bebeaten with a stick, and cummin with a flail.
28 ¿Se tritura el grano? No. No se le trilla indefinidamente; se hace girar la rueda de la carreta, y se le limpia, pero sin triturarlo.	28 When you are threshing wheat, you do not waste time crushing it; you get the horse and cart-wheelmoving, but you do not grind it fine.
29 También esto de Yahveh Sebaot ha salido: trazar un plan maravilloso, llevar a un gran acierto.	29 Al this is a gift from Yahweh Sabaoth, marvel ous advice leading to great achievements.
