1 Moisés era pastor del rebaño de Jetró su suegro, sacerdote de Madián. Una vez llevó las ovejas más allá del desierto; y llegó hasta Horeb, la montaña de Dios.	1 Meanwhile Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. Leading the flock across the desert, he came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
2 El ángel de Yahveh se le apareció en forma de llama de fuego, en medio de una zarza. Vio que la zarza estaba ardiendo, pero que la zarza no se consumía.	2 There an angel of the LORD appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire, was not consumed.
3 Dijo, pues, Moisés: «Voy a acercarme para ver este extraño caso: por qué no se consume la zarza.»	3 So Moses decided, "I must go over to look at this remarkable sight, and see why the bush is not burned."
4 Cuando vio Yahveh que Moisés se acercaba para mirar, le llamó de en medio de la zarza, diciendo: «¡Moisés, Moisés!» El respondió: «Heme aquí.»	4 When the LORD saw him coming over to look at it more closely, God called out to him from the bush, "Moses! Moses!" He answered, "Here I am."
5 Le dijo: «No te acerques aquí; quita las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás es tierra sagrada.»	5 God said, "Come no nearer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.
6 Y añadió: «Yo soy el Dios de tu padre, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.» Moisés se cubrió el rostro, porque temía ver a Dios.	6 I am the God of your father," he continued, "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob." Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
7 Dijo Yahveh: «Bien vista tengo la aflicción de mi pueblo en Egipto, y he escuchado su clamor en presencia de sus opresores; pues ya conozco sus sufrimientos.	7 But the LORD said, "I have witnessed the affliction of my people in Egypt and have heard their cry of complaint against their slave drivers, so I know well what they are suffering.
8 He bajado para librarle de la mano de los egipcios y para subirle de esta tierra a una tierra buena y espaciosa; a una tierra que mana leche y miel, al país de los cananeos, de los hititas, de los amorreos, de los perizitas, de los jivitas y de los jebuseos.	8 Therefore I have come down to rescue them from the hands of the Egyptians and lead them out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey, the country of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
9 Así pues, el clamor de los israelitas ha llegado hasta mí y he visto además la opresión con que los egipcios los oprimen.	9 So indeed the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have truly noted that the Egyptians are oppressing them.
10 Ahora, pues, ve; yo te envío a Faraón, para que saques a mi pueblo, los israelitas, de Egipto.»	10 Come, now! I will send you to Pharaoh to lead my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt."
11 Dijo Moisés a Dios: ¿Quién soy yo para ir a Faraón y sacar de Egipto a los israelitas?»	11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt?"
12 Respondió: «Yo estaré contigo y esta será para ti la señal de que yo te envío: Cuando hayas sacado al pueblo de Egipto daréis culto a Dios en este monte .»	12 He answered, "I will be with you; and this shall be your proof that it is I who have sent you: when you bring my people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this very mountain."
13 Contestó Moisés a Dios: «Si voy a los israelitas y les digo: “El Dios de vuestros padres me ha enviado a vosotros”; cuando me pregunten: “¿Cuál es su nombre?”, ¿qué les responderé?»	13 "But," said Moses to God, "when I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' if they ask me, 'What is his name?' what am I to tell them?"
14 Dijo Dios a Moisés: «Yo soy el que soy.» Y añadió: «Así dirás a los israelitas: “Yo soy” me ha enviado a vosotros.»	14 God replied, "I am who am." Then he added, "This is what you shall tell the Israelites: I AM sent me to you."
15 Siguió Dios diciendo a Moisés: «Así dirás a los israelitas: Yahveh, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, me ha enviado a vosotros. Este es mi nombre para siempre, por él seré invocado de generación en generación.»	15 God spoke further to Moses, "Thus shall you say to the Israelites: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. "This is my name forever; this is my title for all generations.
16 «Ve, y reúne a los ancianos de Israel, y diles: “Yahveh, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, se me apareció y me dijo: Yo os he visitado y he visto lo que os han hecho en Egipto.	16 "Go and assemble the elders of the Israelites, and tell them: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I am concerned about you and about the way you are being treated in Egypt;
17 Y he decidido sacaros de la tribulación de Egipto al país de los cananeos, los hititas, los amorreos, perizitas, jivitas y jebuseos, a una tierra que mana leche y miel.”	17 so I have decided to lead you up out of the misery of Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.
18 Ellos escucharán tu voz, y tú irás con los ancianos de Israel donde el rey de Egipto; y le diréis: “Yahveh, el Dios de los hebreos, se nos ha aparecido. Permite, pues, que vayamos camino de tres días al desierto, para ofrecer sacrificios a Yahveh, nuestro Dios.”	18 "Thus they will heed your message. Then you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him: The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent us word. Permit us, then, to go a three days' journey in the desert, that we may offer sacrifice to the LORD, our God.
19 Ya sé que el rey de Egipto no os dejará ir sino forzado por mano poderosa.	19 "Yet I know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go unless he is forced.
20 Pero yo extenderé mi mano y heriré a Egipto con toda suerte de prodigios que obraré en medio de ellos y después os dejará salir.»	20 I will stretch out my hand, therefore, and smite Egypt by doing all kinds of wondrous deeds there. After that he will send you away.
21 «Yo haré que este pueblo halle gracia a los ojos de los egipcios, de modo que cuando partáis, no saldréis con las manos vacías, 22 sino que cada mujer pedirá a su vecina y a la que mora en su casa objetos de plata, objetos de oro y vestidos, que pondréis a vuestros hijos y a vuestras hijas, y así despojaréis a los egipcios.»	21 I will even make the Egyptians so well-disposed toward this people that, when you leave, you will not go empty-handed.
	22 Every woman shall ask her neighbor and her house guest for silver and gold articles and for clothing to put on your sons and daughters. Thus you will despoil the Egyptians."
